  • @dazaro3 Where can I buy Ferric Chloride?

  • If it works you should make step by step instructions. I'm not a computer nerd but I want this so I need them.

  • So sick!

  • NICE!!!!

  • Very informative

  • first of all, good job for video. i 'm planning to bild one today/tomorrow. I just could not find electret mic. if i use just a regular mic (headset), and if i take care of polarity, should it still work properly?

    Thanks for your time.

  • my airtrimmer has 3 terminals how to use this????? help me

  • @chaitunani4ever

use the middle leg and any 1 of the 2 legs on the side

  • was airtrimmer u used have 2 or 3 terminals?????

  • need help...

i done circuit but not getting any radio output....

    any help plsssss.......

any voltage ratings at outputs or any testing ..... any thingggggg

  • I NEED YOUR HELP dazaro3.If i use a Darlington pair i will optimize the output power?????And something else:the 0v rail is the negative pole of the battery????

Please answer me as soon as you can.i have to finish that project today!!!!!

  • when u gonna make me one and send it to America

  • has anyone made it. i still don't believe that it will transfer good signal at even 20 metres far. just need a proof so that i can start building it.

  • @Arjoonmoal

Yes they work very very well .i have made over 2000 of the type in this video.

Transmission range is very much down to the FM radio sensitivity

My hand held FM radio a Sony ICF-S22 it can only pickup this transmitter from about 200ft but if i use my TECSUN PL-380 then the range is more like 3000ft!

  • @dazaro3 id love to make it but iv got no tools, experience, money

  • where did you get the parts?

  • I'm having problems finding magnet wire or enamel wire...

    Any alternatives? :\

  • @firelordf16

    Any solid wire will work.

  • @firelordf16 look on ebay

  • HELP AGAIN!!!HOW CAN I INCREASE THE OUTPUT MILLLIWATTS OF THE TRANSMITTER???PLEASE ANSWER ME SOON!!!

  • @vasoeo11

To get a lot more power you will need to use

a different design ,you need to add a amplifier stage,

thats a 3 transistor design, use Google to look for that type

of FM transmitter design or on the talking electronics website.

Or with this type of design try using other transistors ,not the

1st transistor the one near the Mic thats the mic amp the other one.

  • @dazaro3 thanks a lot.You are great!!!!

  • Please help me to make an amplifier for that transmittor. On the internet i found only audio amplifiers. Please help me .If you can, give a link for everything useful for me you found. Thanks a lot for your help!!!Write me soon!!!

  • i would like to tell me if i can increase the output power...and how. Thanks for answering to me so fast!!!

  • HELP HELP!!!!HOW CAN I INCREASE THE RANGE OF THE FM BUG???please answer me soon!!!!

  • @vasoeo11

Transmission range is not an exact science because the transmission range works with the power of the transmitter and more important the sensitivity of the FM radio ,FM radio's sensitivity is not all the same ,some radios are good with small low power transmitters and others are not good ,i can test this with my small hand held FM radio a Sony ICF-S22 it can only pickup this transmitter from about 200ft but if i use my TECSUN PL-380 then the range is more like 3000ft!

  • 175 or 165 antenna?

  • Jesus Christ, you should not have such a loud immediate intro to the video. You made my cat jump 10 feet.

  • That's pretty cool! Nice build!

  • are you able to record it or can you only listen live on fm radio and if able to record how would you set that up

  • can you solder the componets anywere on the board and were do you get the srip things lke that thing that has all the dots

  • да конечно! восемьсот метров!

  • This is a great video. I am trying to build this with my son. I cannot find this "air trimmer" anywhere. In the comments you suggest "stretching the coil" of a 10pf capacitor. Could you tell me what that means? Do I just order a regular 10pf capacitor and open it? Thanks.

  • @jeffpeck stretching the coil has nothing to do with capacitors. it means widening the coil turns or tightening them

  • will 6p to 50p trimmer work?

  • MAke a video about tuning with a test

  • hi friend , how can i increase the range of coverage???

  • thank you....................................

  • but i have to tell u one thing that u are genius............

  • hey please give me the design which you got from talking electronics please mail me

    my email id is parth_thunder33@yahoo.in

    pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Will this circuit work if built on copper strip board? I don't have the stuff to print PCB at the moment.

    Thanks

  • @mikewenham

Yes ,will work fine ,you may need to play about with the number of coils.

Please see my other video where i build a FM Transmitter on a piece of wood ! and it worked very well

  • Just curious is it possible to in cress the range say like 3 miles ?

  • Where to he best best place tor order the parts from beside radio shack ?

  • @tbenefi33

rs online ,rapidonline or the best one farnell

  • @dazaro3 Thank you

  • i don't have 1 - 5p to 30p air trimmer. is it possible to make it plz reply

  • @arounder1

If u cannot find a trimmer then use a fixed value capacitor (10pf-25pf) and adjust frequency by stretching the coil.

  • you may use 30 t0 60 pf air trimmer...another option is to use any capacitor between 10 to 30 pf but problem is that with it you can not change transmitting frequency

  • Comment removed

  • pinture resistor out, more more more camara pinture lead resistor.

  • what's the song's name?

    Thanks in advance

  • hi! this is a student of intermediat but dont know how to convert big pcb print picture into page for a small pcb print can u guide me

  • Thanks for show it. . i will be make it

  • Hi, there! How can i reduce the range of the transmitter? Here, in Portugal, it´s a crime to interfer with radio stations frequencys, so i just want a low range, like 5-10 meters... Maybe if i just use one transistor???

  • @BPereirinha

To reduce the range is very easy to do

This transmitter will work down to just under 3v ,if you use 3v you

will need change only 1 part and that is the 68k resistor , change that

to a 22k one .if you use 9v just cut the antenna down to 10cm.

  • Is that little company still around with FM Bugs? :)

He has been selling them for 25yrs plus by now

  • Nice! I'll try it.

    It can trespass walls?

  • @dazaro3 .does the diameter of the coil matter plz reply fast...

  • hey why is 100nf ceramic capacitor not in the parts used list??

  • Okay I'd like to build this, it seems fun but I've only found:

    10k resistor

    47k resistor

    1 Megohm resistor

    470 ohm resistor

and I'm not even sure if the last two I listed are right. I guess what I'm saying is where can I buy the rest? I've been to RadioShack and there's no other place I can think of... please help me :)

  • I need five of these, who can build them for me and how much will it cost? markferaatyahoodotcom

  • fuck this music, click

  • can i use BC547C transistors instead of BC547???

  • 800m .... did you test?

  • @levettp

Yes ,we used the super TECSON PL380 radio and got over 800 meters ,but the TECSON PL380 has got a very sensitive FM tuner and is the best hand held radio we have ever tested with small low power FM transmitters ,some cheap FM radios will have very little range like 50 meters ,so its not all down to the power of the transmitter but how sensitive the radio is ,and the transmitter in this video will have only about 8-12mw of output power.

  • @dazaro3 can you build me five of these? How much would they cost? thanks mark

  • @dazaro3 , can i use a 10 pf capacitor instead of the air trimmer?

  • @aayush10001

If u cannot find a trimmer then use a fixed value capacitor (10pf) and adjust frequency by stretching the coil.

  • what program do you use to make pcb designs?

  • What is the name of the song?

  • Wow cool project :D Might have to try this some time!

By the way, who is singing this song? I like this version

  • I'd like to know if there is some way to attach this transmitter to a router ?

Because I'd like to do a long range router.

  • Thank you for showing how to make the PCB step by step. Very helpful and very easy to follow.

  • I cannot find a 22n axial ceramic capacitor or ceramic trimmer capacitor - 5.2-30pf

Where can I buy them. Any help from anyone would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • @leknifmy

    rapidonline

You can use any 22nf ,order code:08-0916

and trimmer: 12-0145,but you are not from UK so may be better to use Ebay

  • I just built a diffenent one then and it does 1000 meters

  • @HEYLON96 ,,, HI ,,I m in texas usa,,i m really interested about kind fm transmitter,, i buy some ,but are lie,,just to sale samething,,it say 400 meters,,,but that is only 40 meters,,,so if you build one and have range more then 400 meters,,please givme the schematic,,,THANKS a lot

  • if u cannot find a trimmer then use a fixed value capacitor (10pf) and adjust frequency by stretching the coil. A frequency counter would come handy.Any general purpose small signal transistor with an ft of 300mhz should work ok.pn2222 , 2n3904 are both good.

  • dazaro3,

    I have a question:the 2-10p air trimmer,which i got has 3 leads ,but in the schematic are only 2 leads.Which leads should i connect?

  • Could you please tell me how to determine the inductance of the copper coil.

Am asking hoping this will help me determine the frequency range of my transmitter..

Am looking forward to your reply

  • how do i determine the coil inductance of the copper wire..

i hope this would help me determine the frequency range within which my bug will work..

    looking forward to a reply

  • What is being used as the tunner. I am trying to make an FM transmitter and have little knowledge of electronics. Is it the ceramic trimming capacitor?

  • coool

  • If you replace the microphone with a 1/8 or 1/4 inch phone jack you could plug in your I-pod and have a tiny tiny music broadcasting thing.

  • @Cds56

    See my other videos

  • I replaced the 1nF with a 10nF. Is it okay? Then when I tried it, it doesn't work. What should I do? (10nF due to misgiven capacitor)

  • @hbar45

You will need a 1n ,it can work with a 10n ,you may have a problem with some other part like the coil

  • can you use a 2N4401? I couldn't find any 2n3904 around...

  • do you know how to make a long range transmitter, around 1 watt...just enough to broadcast 2-10 miles...because thats not illegal!!! (not joking, really requires no license)

  • please can you send me the circuit board my mail is nick0418@live.nl

  • if your having trouble finding the capacitors, you should convert their values. a simple conversion table is like this:: uf nf pf ::to convert capacitor values, you move three decimals, in the direction you need to convert so for a 1n ceramic capacitor, you start at nf, converting to uf, you move three decimals to the left so a 1.0 nf capacitor becomes a .001 uf capacitor, and a 22n capacitor, converted to uf becomes a .022 uf capacitor, both are at radioshack labeled as uf.

  • can you plz tell song AND singer name ,,,plz.thanks

  • Can i use 2n3906 instead of 2n3904 for any of the two? because i only have 1 2n3904 transistor here but i do have a 2n3906. i need answer ASAP

  • @beehard44

You can NOT use the 2n3906 ,the 2n3906 is a PNP

Transistor ,this circuit uses a NPN transistor,

There are two types of standard transistors, NPN and PNP

look up PNP and NPN transistors on Google.

  • @dazaro3 ok, i'll just find another general purpose NPN transistor, thanks

  • @dazaro3 So I could use a number of my NPNs such as a 2222a?

  • @Cds56

    Yes

  • Ahhh genius children.

  • isn´t this illegal ??

  • @ExPlOdInGmAn1980 as long as it doesn't broadcast to far, say a mile, doesn't interfere with any radio stations and isn't actually used to bug a room it's legal.

  • Do you use new paper's paper to print the toner in the board?

    sorry for my bad inglish.

  • @Ne555N

No ,not news paper ,best to use glossy magazine paper,

  • Please can you send me picture of your PCB design?? =)

  • Good work,can i use the transistor 2N3904 like substitute by BC547

  • nice one Darren. good work.

  • COOL!!!!.

  • How do you listen to the bug

  • hello.. i have a question??? i have never did somthing like this before i got all the parts but one...

i dont have a green trimmer 5.2-30. i have a red 4.2-20pF, a yellow 6.8-40pF and brown 9.8-50pF. let me know what one i should use. thank you

if i can, how can i hook up my mhz tester to see what the mhz is once im done. thanks again :)

  • @jeproxgigolo

Use the 6.8-40pF or the 9.8-50pF

  • You forgot to put 100 nf on that list of components, so I did not buy it, so now I`m dead, I need this for tomorrow :( Can this work without that capacitor?

  • Can BC550C work instead of BC547?

  • @dazaro3 Please, can you send me the schematic design, that from 0:25 I cannot design the same :( Please help me.

  • Hey could you send me the shematics, those you printed on a PCB board, I cannot draw them like you did.

    Thanks in advance,

    Igor

  • Hi, I just made this and am having some trouble finding the right frequency to listen on. Can you please give me some pointers. Thanks

  • i've made the same circuit, yes i can listen my radio about 500 meters away but with a 20uV sensitive receiver. if i have a 1uV sensitive receiver i can read the signals more than 1000 meters away. receiver sensitivity is very important. consider this before make the circuit.

  • Can i BUY a completed one from you. Please message me.

  • hey whos this song by

  • wow that song sucks lol but good video

  • can something similar be made but powered not by a battery but by another power source using alternating current ?

  • @Scorpion0125

I believe that some 220 AC->9v DV adapter would do the trick, just be careful with hiss from it. ;)

  • @oOfretlessOo

yeah.i thought of that but i was thinking about changes in the construction of the bug so it can work on ac. a video of such a device would be nice :D

  • awesome, were making this in electronics at high school.

  • can you give me a pcb design?prety video plz plz plz

  • can u give me the PCB design???????????plzplzplz

  • what was the total cost of this project (not including your tools) only the parts mentioned in the description.?

  • wats da nameof da song???

  • is dis one better or da other one??

  • Can I connect an amplified source instead of the microphone to this transmitter?

  • could you mod this to transmit at 49 mhz?

  • nonono

  • it is possible if you replace the 1 - 5p to 30p air trimmer with a .05p - .5 to 30p air trimmer since it controls the frequency that is if you could find the part but that's in theory

  • I'd say no more than $10-$15 USD

  • In the beginning of the video you stated that you changed the 2pf to10pf air trimmer to an 5pf to 30pf air trimmer, and later in the video you stated you solder a 5pf to 30p ceramic trimmer.

I would like to know which type you used? and if it is a ceramic trimmer you used, why did u choose it over an air trimmer, is it because they have more precision? Thank you!

  • Hi, can i replace 30pf trimer with 1.4-10pF 7.5mm air trimmer ?

  • You guys have problems with the dimensions of the print because you aint using a CAD program. If you do it will make your life much easier. I use EAGLE, its a good program and there are some great video tutorials for this software.

  • mR. DAzaro3, you forgot about the 104 Cap (100nF) from the schematics in the list! Thank you for the video, I'm having some troubles with two things: Will it override a radio station that is playing already in my radio? Does the copper wire diameter matter much? 0.5 mm or 1 mm is great problem? How can I tune it to certain frequency correctly and how do I test the transistors? thank again!

  • Where can i find your all spy bugs PCB layouts???

Can you give us some links from talkingelectronics ????

  • Thank you very much, this is a great tutorial!

  • Hi, great tut :)

    I'we got a question!

Can i replace the air trimmer with something else?

I'me form Latvia, i can't find 30p air trimmer on any inthernet store around here. Thank you!

  • @jammeroPSP

Yes you can use a ceramic capacitor

say a 5pf upto 33pf then you can stretch

and compress the coil to change the

    frequency.

  • why did you change the 2p-10p air trimmer and the 39p capacitor?

  • To give more frequency adjustment ,it can go under and above the FM Radio band

  • @dazaro3 hey i have a question i have built this thing what do i need to listen to the voices.

    thanks

  • @maliktary

    Any FM radio!

  • @dazaro3 thanks 4 reply

  • where can i find your all spy bugs PCB layouts & other your cool PCB layouts????????????

Can you upload it on to somewhere then i can download it..........plzplzplzplzplzplzplzplz

  • read the damn text, dont expect to get spoonfeeded.

  • dazaro3, bro, can you tell us what is the voltage of each of the capacitors? i went to an electronic shop to buy the components but they said the capacitors i wanted to buy has to be with not only the capacitance but the voltage too, bro...

were they right or you forgot to give the capacitors specifications, i dont know, so i ask you that, mate...

    please reply me, ok bro

  • Hi

    General purpose disc capacitors.

The voltage of the capacitors can be

10v and upto 100v ,most of the ones we use

    are 50v capacitors.

    Thanks

  • thank you very much, mate

  • @dazaro3 thanks you very much, mate

  • would it be possible to make some version of this to transmit internet? kind of like a long range router.

  • LMAO, please read up before you ask sensible questions. You wanna put telcos and router producers out of market you can go try. What a nut~!

  • Also, does increasing the aerial length and power increase broadcast range?

  • Aerial length ,no 175cm antenna is the best setup ,more power will only give a few more meters, uoto about 12v.

  • How much does this weigh? I have a prank for my school in mind...

  • I want to use this design to send a signal to a alpha numeric pager. Can this work? The pager frequency is 929 to 932MHZ. Also, where can I buy these components? Your video is great, it shows a lot detail.

  • Can't seem to find a axial capacitor. Can I use a normal one? Thanks

  • O yes ,any one will do the job ,i only used a axial capacitor becuase they look better then a ceramic capacitor .

  • hey Darren,

i wanted to know if this 2-transistor bug had a better sound-quality at the receiver than the 1-transistor bug you made.

2ndly can i use a 10-100pF cap and also solder caps in parallel to acquire desired capacitances.

3rdly great job. its really helpful and fun!

  • a membrane that vibrates due to sound waves hitting it and transferred into electronic pulses :) Microphone :)

  • How could I make this use a 3.5 mm stereoplug? Or both, 3.5 mm stereoplug and mic with "ON-ON-ON switch".

What kind of antenna wire you are using?

  • And is that electret microphone?
