@paidskn1488 It seems there were two clans in Scotland named MacAulay (Gaelic: Mac Amhlaidh). One clan was based around Dunbarton, and the other in Lewis, in the Western Isles.

The Dunbarton Clan were a branch of the great Clan Alpine, and had links to the Earl of Lennox and Clan MacGregor.

@paidskn1488 The MacAulays of Lewis were supporters of Clan MacLeod of Lewis, and claim descent from Aula (Olave) the Black, King of the Isles in the 13th Century. There were also MacAulays in Wester Ross (in the Ullapool area) and Sutherlandshire.

Macleans and Macdonalds would ally with the english against the king of scotland when the situation suited them and at that time the campbells defended scotland at that time against these clans.

And the massacre of glencoe was carried out by a scottish army regiment, most of the men were not cambells, but men from various clans.

- Campbell clan defended the King of Scotland against OTHER Scottish clans in the period your on about. This doesn't make them English or not Scottish...

- And yes fought for the English, what am I on???? what I am on about is 1715 to 1719 Chief John Campbell, 2nd Duke of Argyll. British government forces, with the forces of Clan Campbell, fought and defeated the Jacobites at the Battle of Sheriffmuir in 1715 and this was only 2 decades after the massacre of Glencoe MacDonalds

Every Clan were cattle thieves, if you actually read the history. And yes it was a massacre, because another clan were killed elsewhere in the country doesn't mean that it wasn't a massacre. You and people like you, need to actually read something about the culture of highland society before you start using that black hole above your chin.
