an anthology would sell if it was a flagship book. if one of the avengers books out now was a 'solo' avengers anthology for characters that wouldn't otherwise hold their own title, with hot creators like warren ellis and bryan hitch or something.
I love the format of Astonoshing Tales.. but if there is a crap story in it, - then it ruins the comic of the other good ones.. so its harder to find one that you like.
Not really. We do have signs up around the new comics that ask people politely not to read the comics in the store. Also if we put bags on all the comics we have on the racks we would just be losing money on account of the big volume we deal with.
I love Mark Bagley's art in Ultimate Spider-Man. That's some of the best I've seen. He's art in Trinity(see I do read DC) isn't quite up to par on what he did in USM.
Anthologies don't sell? They seem to sell in Japan, the UK, Spain...seems to be in the states that theres this prejudice against Anthologies.
And what about anthologies like McSweeneys, Flight, Brunetti's Yale press anthology, these are all great books that are targeted towards bookshops rather than comics shops and do well.
The newsprint thing on Wednesday comics is disappointing, as you say its going to yellow. Hopefully the collected edition will be a Kramers Ergot sized book
WEDS COMICS was such a good idea but i dont even want to read a FREE somic shop news because the format is cheap and annoying.
No way id even consider paying a $1.00 plus for this format. Id rather STEAL the content online as I have with half the first issue already.
In this economy $4.00 for ANYTHING in comics is not smart period.

i think if they made it $1.50 it and added a lil more to it, it would be perfect

First off CHIPP KIDDs comic career is an INSULT to graphic designers struggling to catch a break. He is HORRIBLE in every utter sense of the word.

Again, I give credit to DC for consistently trying new things even when they're getting their asses kicked sales wise by Marvel.

how are they going to reach mainstream audiences in a comic shop? they need to get back on newstands with a cheap book

i would actually enjoy the art on that texture of paper.
if they had good stories and a cheap price i dont care that it will be yellow when im dead. i think it would be very nostalgic and a good read.
BUT has to be a cheap buy!

oh i just realised something.. im pretty familiar to my comic store and they are cool with me reading the comics.
is that why your comics dont have plastic bags?
