I have this same exact sub...only thing is..I don't know shit about any of it....do you have messenger or facebook? I need to get a box for it and a good sub, got any ideas? I don't want to push the sub to the max, i just want to get a good bump, and still be able to hear the lyrics to the music clearly, this sounds pretty good. I hate it when all you feel is the bass, and can't hear the lyrics for shit. Hit me up with any ideas. I'm lookin to spend like $200/$400.
I have the same amp with a 12 inch alpine x type. I got a battery ran to the amp so its getting the power. I have a kenwood head unit. It wont hit the hard note if i turn the can past half way. It will just skip the note. I dont know whats wroung can you or anyone help me. I Got the box custom built ported 2 sq ft. I dont know whats wrong i had them swap amp and it is the same problem if anyone can help i will be happy thanks.
@559bigkrazy From where I've bought my Type-X, the JL is 2-3 times more expensive. And it is rated @ 750 RMS. I haven't heard a JL subwoofer so I can't say... It could be a better subwoofer then the Alpine, but personally I wouldn't throw that kind of money on a subwoofer.
@eppi1064 I dont' know if it will be louder, a 12" square subwoofer has more surface area then a 10" round one, so I think the L7 would be louder, but I am not a pro in this field, I could be wrong, all I know is that not only the RMS wattage makes a subwoofer louder then another one.
@eppi1064 depending on how many rms watts your putting to the l7s they would be louder being as you would have 24 inches of airspace moving compared to 10
@ecp3792 well i was feeding my 12L7 close to 900 watts, maybe less.. but do you think one single 10 inch Type X be louder than a 12 inch L7? cause ur sub can handle 1K RMS. and the L7 only 750RMS.
@eppi1064 The Type-X isn't build primary for SPL, so if you want loud and you have a L7, keep it, if you want louder get a Champion PRO Series Pioneer (1000W RMS), it's cheap and loud, I've heard a 400W RMS Pioneer and it was very close to my subwoofer regardin "loudness". If you have more money to spend you have a lot of other options...
@CoupeDeville23 I think a subwoofer needs to be helped by mid-range speakers for a big bandwidth of frequencies... And it's not bottoming out, maybe the sound recorded by my camera is different.
@danibwr yeah, maybe its not, its really hard to tell with camera mics... as far as midrange is concerned, that should be picked up by your interior speakers, with HPF around 80hz, and the sub should intersect that point, and only play the frequencies under that setting.. not sure what you meant by 'subwoofer needs to be helped by mid-range'... nice setup though
@MrFatman212 Yea if he only plays them in short bursts. Max wattage is the maximum amount of power it can handle in short musical bursts. rms is the max power it can handle for long periods of time. So if you like to listen to alot of bass for extended periods of time, you need an amp thats at least 200 watts lower than the rms rating of your sub. Trust me I learned that the hard way when i fried my voice coils because at the time I wasn't aware of the whole rms/max thing.
@smiley2557 its a capacitor and you use it if your battery cant handle to current draw from the system, it doesnt really do alot but reduce the strain on a battery and make it more constant......................
impressive box!
