McCain not knowing about Dr. King at 47yrs. old proves just how out of touch he is with not only the African-American population, but an entire GENERATION of people who devoted their lives to Civil Rights. Granted the struggle for civil rights is still an on-going process, its a little too late to be pretending as if he's interested in this struggle and the people involved in it. McCain trivializes Dr. King's legacy and that "apology" was nothing more than a dance on his grave.

Just a wild guess here, but they probably hated them AFTER the white kids hung nooses on a school yard tree that was blatently nicknamed "the White tree." There are blacks that don't like white people, but given the HISTORICAL ramifications between blacks and whites in this country (examples that are steadily happening on a DAILY basis), don't you think many blacks have a right to be angry and untrusting of white Americans? Barack Obama did not attend the Memphis tribute honoring MLK on 04/04/08 because he doesn't agree with MLK's beliefs. MLK was a peace maker and uniter, where as Obama is a divider, who associates with those who spread hate. Senator McCain and Clinton were there to pay their respects.

No, Obama didn't appear in Memphis because he didn't want to cheapen the experience to a mere photo op and FAKE rehashing of Dr. King's "dream" like Sen. McCain and Clinton did. Both could care less about Dr. King. Their journey there was purely for their own personal benefit; to gain the black vote in the upcoming election. The entire time Clinton & McCain have been in the public eye, they never even thought about doing anything like this. Just a poor strategic dance on Dr. King's legacy.
