I used to enjoy Ren & Stimpy but this sort of art style really treads a thin line between disgusting and edgy - it all depends on the writing for the episode. And in the later seasons, Ren & Stimpy just got too fucking weird and disgusting to be enjoyable. I think the same could be said for John's later shows - such as The Ripping Friends.

I don't really have much to say for the above because honestly, the art was too distracting to notice anything else. I guess that's the point though.

The furry poke is outdated. We all know some that furries will get upset at this and cause drama. Others will laugh. Some outright don't care. Not quite sure what to say / think about this one, personally. The animation is smooth, yet repetitive, and the overuse of biology jargon isn't seen in furry subculture. Finally, the joke about them both being men inside the suits? I saw it coming from a solar system's distance away, if not further.

As both a furry and a longtime John K. fan, I think that people in general (furry or not) should just take this for the joke it is. Laugh! It's good for you. John K. has always highlighted the unseemly parts of life in exaggerated and funny ways -- there is an air of sardonicism in all of his work. Though as a side note, I agree with many of the commenters who say this is derivative of Keller's work, but at the same time, Keller always drew heavily from John K. in the first place.

@maikutx you're right, keller did have poor humor + he was a hypocrite. his stuff was still better than this and slightly more accurate, at least for the time it was produced. nowadays, furry fandom is growing to be dominated by far more adapted, sociable people and extremely talented artists. cartoon animals turn me on but i dont think im actually an animal and i recognize its all fiction. im tired of furries who act like they're "above it" by laughing at this unfunny crap.

Keller was an old school furry and both his and John's cartoons about furries are dated. In fact I'd go as far to say that John K. pretty much just copied Keller's caricature of furry fans. I'm surprised that John K being in the industry for so long couldn't produce something better then what Shawn Keller produced. It's a shame John K's idea of a good cartoon is profusions of bodily fluids and flatulence. Gross out style was one of the worst parts of the cartoon industry history.

@maikutx I feel it only worked because it was one of the first network cartoons that threw it in the viewers face and seemed like the new thing. The novel concept grew tiring fairly quickly though. Same with Howard Stern, the shock DJs that came after him were just rehashing the same thing and trying to one-up each other without really adding anything new to the scene.

But then everyone else did it without understanding that it was funny in spite of the crudeness, not because. John K himself is guilty of that too
