  • Unique, someone like the Captain could never happen again in todays cultural desert.

  • I'm still watching it.

  • Oh fuck Man! That electrafried me man! That is soooo fucking good, that I don't know exactly how to describe it man. I think I'll just watch it over and over til they come take me away.

  • Better than the studio version

  • I remember in 1968 or 69 we saw a Cutout LP of Troutmask Replika. Well, a double album for 2 bucks? Worth a shot. Certainly changed everything I ever thought about music. This song is incredible, and certainly one of the best guitar solos. BAss and drums are inse-perable. Captains vocals are topnotch.

  • Now that's what I call TIGHT, mmm-mmm!

  • Saw him in 1972 in Detroit.

Now I'm in the habit of playing "Click Clack" for hours on end.

He was a music shaman. Thanks for everything Don. RIP

  • Damn, this is good. Band sounds great as does the Captain. Love it. Thanx for all the killer music Don. RIP

  • Could not of got through my youth without Dons works his varying Magic bands and their magnificence.

Rage on forever Capt, we salute you.

  • genius at work - you will live forever in my heart captain..

  • CHE GRANDE -CHE SUONI -RICORDA JIMMY ENDRIX MA PIU VARIO-

NON VEDO L ORA DI CONOSCERLO MEGLIO-OREPIRA-

  • Rest Well, Don. And thank you so much for many years of fantastically amazing music and art.

  • RIP Mr Beefheart

  • @electrickabuki

  • none of my women have tears in their eyes

  • forgot to add:

    NOT WITHOUT MEG!

    really.

  • JACK! JACK WHITE!

    WHERE'S THE PETITION?

  • @KnowKnot

  • First time I saw them on TV, I was tripping.

  • I have loved the captain for over 25 yrs!!!!!

  • yeah, I've taken the Captain's advice here & it doesn't work! lol Still a great song though...

  • hahahahaha!!!

  • ssssmmmooooking !

  • My favorite Beefheart song! Thanks for posting...

  • and mine ...

    warrabout longneck bottle blues?

  • 2:42 xD

  • saw him do it in berkeley awesome thanks for posting

  • Somebody needs to whack the powers that be upside ,ya know, the head or something...Nowadays,seems Americans have lost the WILL... to GOTTA hit a man...

    God Bless The Captain!

  • ... nah.

When was the last time Americans made any pretensions so as to that? The '60s? Good Lord. Their generation inherited the earth, and look what happened.

  • yes.... clear spot is much better..... the whole album has a feel that spotlight kid doesn't quite match

  • aha ! fantastic song and nice ending ; ) what a joy

  • Man! Gotta love that beat! And Beefheart on the harp to boot? That's all I need!

  • Yes it does! Excellent album, too.. it is a double album, "Spotlight Kid", and "Clear Spot", both similar in style and songs, and "My Head.." is a CLASSIC...I own these gems myself!

  • ' my head is my only house when it rains'

..if i am not mis-quoting. I want a CD of this album ' Clear Spot ' ...does it exist ??

  • It is

"My head's my only house unless it rains

  • This is from the ' Clear Spot ' album...i really liked it and no longer have vinyl... Has anyone ever seen a CD of this album... I would buy one... "My head is my only house when it rains"

  • You can buy it along with the spotlight kid as a double album, but as a single unfortunately.

  • i have this album on vinyl, the magic band rules!!!

  • Watch the mirror man! Thanks!

  • love it! thanks

  • great post

  • YouTube is so fking fantastic.

How else could I just sit here in my room and watch this brilliant art!

Don Vliet is the Great One!

The band is tight as shit! As one would expect.

Saw them in 1980 in NYC..Twice in one night

Irving and midnite at Mudd Club.

Yeah, I'm bragging!! You betcha. Wouldn't you?

    Best show ever!!!

  • @bobgure

What did they play at Mudd? Do tell.

  • @Israfvel

It was the night after Lennon was killed.

"This is for John, from Don" is how he began both shows.

I don't remember much except Bat Chain Puller, Sun Zoom, Big Eyed Beans. Crazy Little Thing...

Not sure if "Doc from the Radar" had been released yet...

Everything you heard on record was done live....dazzling and fierce.

  • Fuk me flying, that hit the spot :-),thanks.

  • Thanks for this!!! A powerful show!

You don't have "Ashtray Heart" and "Hothead" from this tour do you?

  • Unfortunately all the tracks from this broadcast are up and they did not include either of these.

  • Thanks for putting these up!!

  • Thanks for posting this, brilliant.

  • yes, I feel the same as C.B. None of my women have to hit he to let me it's there. In fact, I'm glad to be there. Next! The guy on guitar, he ain't no Voot Horn Rollo! can't hold a match!

  • Jeff Morris Tepper apparently lived next door to the captain and Don in his own inimatable way "groomed" him for the Magic Band.....know what you saying but i guess by this time Don was through with performing music - it was to be his beloved desert and painting after 1982 or thereabouts!

  • you conceited bastard.

  • I'm probably the only person in the world who understands his music

  • So are you the only beefheart fan in the world? haha, that's funny.

  • You could actually be the only person who DOESN'T understand his music!

  • I like people with a sense of humor!

  • Yeah, you must be. If only I could be as cultured as you, with your favorited Bert & Ernie and Dubliners videos.

  • amen

  • damn...Im glad I like Beefheart!

  • Amend brudda

  • quanto voglio bene al capitano!

  • I saw this tour in Glasgow, Scotland. Half empty theatre, but a great gig.

  • ??????? sorry Folk .....Zoot Horn Rollo IS NOT in this line up !!!! Guitarists are Gary Lucas and Richard Snyder

  • Zoot Horn Rollo is amazing

  • er, wait this is 1980 isn't it? my bad i forgot he isn't in this video. still a great song

  • That would be Mr. Moris Tepper .....

  • My favorite Beefheart song

  • Now this IS ! a man who really does understand a woman.....xxx

  • We've all been in that position, slloyd1452! :D

  • None of my women have tears in their eyes, you can ask them about me I swear. And I say "Captain Beefheart" and everyone says "Who?"

  • Who?

  • And ye say "Taylor Swift" and they say "YEAH"!

    (To quote ye.)

  • Beautiful
