  • That is my favourite TOTP version of the song.

They really look like they put a lot of effort into that with the stage set, lighting, camera angles and vision mixing. Absolutely superb! Shows just how good he was.

  • I watched this on TOTP in 1979. My Dad said - 'Bloody Rubbish, this'! I said, 'I actually think it's really good'. A week later it was No1. Priceless !!!!!!!!!! Memories aaaaaaahhhhh. One of the most original No1's in UK history. Still such beautiful sounds....

  • original!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Genius.Gary was much better than any group except Krafwerk .Very futuristic and lead the way for the eighties.

The music leaders go in this order heading for the eighties.

    1st KRAFTWERK

2ND GARY NUMAN AND TUBEWAY ARMY

    3RD DAVID BOWIE

4TH STEVE STRANGE AND VISAGE(fade to grey wrote by Gary Numan and tubeway army)

    5th WHAM (George Michael)

  • @lottaluck "

"Fade To Grey" music was written by Billy Currie and Chris Payne. Gary Numan said that Currie and Payne would work on it during sound checks on the European leg of the '79 tour. Midge Ure added the vocals later.

George Michael? LOL...but hey, you like what you like.

  • absolutely fabulous! Well ahead of its time - in 1979,it took most of my friends a couple of months to appreciate it,it was so far ahead of time. Thanks Gary!!!!!!!!!

  • @postcardterry Loved it the first time I heard it, I was 9. Still an all time favourite.

  • PLAYBACK? SOMEBODY KNOWS?
