Also you mentioned Matsuoka ukemi. Has any of you had the chance of practicing in any Matsuoka affiliated dojo?or Seagal affiliated dojo?Or these are products of your own efforts and research?Of the dojos I visited, and seen, yours is the only group in the Phils. so far who consciously practice and research on Seagal style. Sure, individuals in some dojos are interested and research as individuals, but yours is the only one I have seen doing it as a group. Again, my appreciation to your group.
Sensei, then this is not limited to a few senior Aikidoka in your group?Would you say this is still the style being practiced in any MAC/Phil Aikikai affiliated dojos?
Thank you for the appreciation and as for your questions. Yes we all came from the Manila Aikido Club / Philippine Aikiai dojo in Quiapo. The techniques came from the dojo itself and from research. We also love the Seagal style of aikido. This video was taken from one of the guy's company gym. Enjoy Aikido, you gain true friends in an aikido dojo.
I am just curious if the Seagal style is just an unintentional similarity, meaning this style is practiced from the beginning of Manila Aikido Club/Manila Aikikai by its founders, particularly Omar Camar Sensei, or this Seagal style is added by
I also notice similarities to Seagal style of Aikido (iriminage, atemi, I'm a fan of these techniques). From what I hear, the style in Manila Aikido Club/Manila Aikikai is a traditional style practiced from the 60's by Aikikai in Japan and hasn't lost the intensity and style ever since.
si ho capito ma cadono loro....voglio vedere se riesce a far cadere una persona normale!!!! credo proprio di no!!! cazzo la fa cadere cn il polso!!! cazzo è superman
very educational, i would like to download it if possible...i am a new user, so i know this things yet...dongaleb if u can let me download the clip..plzz say something
Good demonstration of Aikido, tried it a few yrs ago when i was younger and could handle the brk falls. Thanks.. might take it up again, know any good teachers in Australia?
Sage advice dongaleb! When you slap use as much surface area of your arm and hand as possible, relax and let the force of the fall slap for you. The idea is to expel as much force through your arm or leg (as may be the case when doing sutemi or if your arms are being held) so it is absorbed there rather than somewhere that will wind you or cause more pain. Try slapping mid roll to start, then roll and flatten out midway, then try sutemi with a partner from a simple Kotagaeshi to either side. :)
I like the movie for the instructional quality for basic moves but on the other hand cannot quite grasp why there's no thought given to the escape and counter for these techniques as it's actually quite easy to get out of most of these, and the attacking technique is very unrealistic. Would like to see more of a sparring type of video from Aikido between two people who understand actual fighting.
When applied offensively, Aikido is mostly used against people who don't know how to break falls. The main reason why you see aikidoka so eaily falling is to REDUCE injury, that is, this is not a "realistic" battle scenario. If you don't break fall, and flow with the attack, you will certainly break bones.
Hi! I understand your comments. And you are right, most Aikidoka do not know how to attack "correctly," as in making it worth defending against. However, the learning curve on Aikido is HUGE. It is much faster to learn how to kick or punch than defend using Aikido. "Path Beyond Thought" by Steven Seagal might be a good demo to watch for Aikido vs. hard attacks.
Good video, good technique. It would be nice if you would post vid clips that teach the various moves, breaking each one down, both omote and ura. Like, one vid clip for each move that is tested at each kyu.
wonderful video!!
Thank you!!

I'm sorry for all the questions but I'm really just trying to know
because this style really interests me. I hope I will have the pleasure
to one day practice with you and experience your type of practice.
Again, thank you for posting the video.

Or maybe this is not Seagal Style
I see in the video but just what is really normal practice in your dojo?
Is there a conscious move in your part to adopt a Seagal style of Aikido
in your practice? Is this style practiced in all
Manila Aikido Club/Manila Aikikai affiliated clubs?

I am just curious if the Seagal style is just an unintentional similarity, meaning this style is practiced from the beginning of Manila Aikido Club/Manila Aikikai by its founders, particularly Omar Camar Sensei, or this Seagal style is added by
other seniors of the club later on?

I noticed from following other postings that you
have a relationship with the Manila Aikido Club/ Manila Aikikai in Quiapo.
I havn't had the chance to practice there yet but I hope to do so in the future.
By the way Senseis, where is this dojo in the video?
danrvil 2 years ago
Senseis, first of all, I would like to say this is an impressive
collection of Aikido techniques and a very impressive performance
of the techniques. I am an Aikido practitioner myself and a kyu rank
beginner in the art. Thank you for posting as this is without a doubt a
good basis for someone like me who is in the beginning stage in
my personal practice.
