the waste gas from cars make up about 35% of all CO2 emission, as much as all industrial emission. for most of the waste gas, it is produced during traffic jams, when people are waitting, yet turning on the car engine. for dural mode car, it can just switch the gasline engine to electric mode during this moment. 0 CO2 production.

We still don't need the unneccessary added gas engine when we can go pure electric simply add batteries or purchase improved ones. 2 systems working in 1 vehicle means more to brake, more expense to fix. I like that the technology beats the volt.. Resources and money is wasted when they could go directly to electric. Less parts on top of it. Also this car is going to cost a fortune, look at all the unnesseccary light in the engine, etc.. Looks like a toy.

the car part in vedio is just a show case model. LOL. real car doesn;t look like that. BYD does have a pure electric version E6 car, but this dural mode one costs only 20,000 dollars, with same price, which you can only buy a gasline engine car. Ps: as domestic chinese consumer, they can get as much as 40%tax rebate and goverment subsidy. If the goverment here can give subsidy, I would buy one even it costs me $25000.

BYD as as a battery producer indeed, a part time car maker, it has the lowest cost and best performance electric car. not even Toyota, GM pose any advantages on electric car field than BYD. BYD's battery garentte its battery wouldn't blow up even in worst collision. BYD garentee its battery can recharge up to 100000times. BYD's electricity able been fully charged in house hold plug in seems 8 hours and 45mins in charge station.BYD's iron sulfide battery pose absolute no environmental threates.

Electric car are not toy cars which we ride during childhood.any points which i mentioned above are challanges and barriers to car companies who want to get into that field. Yes, might be you can waste 10000 dollar to build your self a DIY car,but the customer is only to yourself. in best scenerio, you might set yourself up a company called the united DIY low speed golf car company.

I know in canada there is a low speed pure electric car called ZEN, which were prohibited from driving on any roads. those low speed, low tech car are not in same level as dural mode car, or BYD's E6 car, when it comes to acceleration speed, distance per charge, durability of battery, and so on.

If everyone had a plug in electric car, the existing power plants couldn't handle the load, so we'd have to build more power plants. Since most sheeple don't want nukes, that would mean more coal fired plants, resulting in more pollution than the existing gasoline cars produce.

with smart grid technology, individual roof solar panel installed in household, parking lot with solar panel do can solve the problem. also, if just for work, most people only travel within 100km range, car's battery might remain plenty of electricity. the car itself gets solar charge window, for 8 hours leaving in parking lot, the car can recharge its own battery. it doesn't need to charge that often. ps:ppl can charge their car at night , when there is no industry consumption.

I dont know where you live. But in sweden it is estimated that if we all drove plug-ins the needed electricity need would increase by 6%. We have no problems with that on existing powerplants. If you live in sweden you can choose to get your electricity from wind/water/solar-energy only. It costs a little bit more but if you get red of the huge gas-bill you would still get ahead economicly.

Electric vehicles create anywhere from 1/2 to 1/8th the pollution of an equivalent gasoline powered vehicle depending mainly on weight. And that's assuming 100% of the power to charge it comes from coal, which isn't true anywhere in the US.

The car industry always does this. They purposely make sure that you can't get too much utility out of a normal car, so that you're forced to resort to getting a van or suv.

But times have changed. Many of us don't want a van, because they use too much gas and cost too much to buy.

Again, we want station wagons, NOT sedans.
