  • Let me just say, as a mixed kid, from my point of view, this is very saddening.

  • just watch the movie so amazing it made me cry.

I'm from africa i never knew that this was how some africains had to go thru a long time ago in the state.

Stop racism people we are all the same

  • WOW...I can't believe the hate going on with many of these comments. Time to STOP that shit. There are good and bad in all of us.....All colors, creeds, etc. What sets you apart is which one you act on. Stop the Hate....it will make you old before you're days!!!

  • .,The Help or Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close should have won the Best Picture...

  • awesome movie <3

  • ..and the white lady saves the day!

  • @azrodrigues So typical.

  • "The Help" is nothing more than a chick flick and was only a nominee for best picture because the academy eats, drinks, and sleeps political correctness. Just another way for them to pat themselves on the back.

  • @conwayp3 Lighten up, I liked the concept. Fuck what the intention was.

  • @conwayp3 Exactly!

  • @diediecroix yOU are a motherfucker bitch stfu !! wE 'RE ALL THE SAME IN SIDE BUT EXEPT YOU!! fucking nazi!! GO FUCK YOU MOMMA ! TO CALL BLACK PEOLE UGLY , DONT MAKE YOU BEAUTIFUL!! I KNOW ENOUGH BEAUTIFUL brOWN peOLPE WHO ARE WAY BEATIFULLER THAN SOME WHITE PEOPLE YOU KNOW , I'M DONE!

  • It is all part of history and from this we will learn to be better, do better and know that we are all equal. Colour has become a non-issue in most countries and one day it will happen in America too. God loves us all.

  • My rate to this film is 4 stars since I didn't see more actions.

  • One of the most moving movies I've ever watched

  • love...

  • this any good? looks really cheesball.. just finished the book which was amazing.. this trailer tho :/

  • @easyj1984 its so good

  • Comment removed

  • GREAT MOVIE!! DESERVES BETTER RATING FROM IMBD.COM

  • Oscars Actress for Leading Role should have been won for Viola Davis. So glad that Octavia Spencer won for Actress for Supporting Role. BUT best picture should have been won by the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @chanelsunshine I agree..BUT Meryll Streep deserved it also..she is xuch a incredible actress..i so love her!! Yes,They both were good but i really think noone can do it better than Meryl ..

  • wow, trust there to be so many racist comments... I really enjoy this trailer and the movie looks very good! I know that Black people have been through alot and are still going through, but the best we can do is to not let ourselves be racist.. thats all that matters, cause we cant change the way people view others, they just have to humble themselves to see we are all the same and accept it and move on with love...

  • Lets keep perpetuating whites oppressed backs and make sure that we never move on from that. White people owe black people and always will. White people are evil. Black people are oppressed by evil white people. Black people should hate evil white people and expect white people to owe them. May this never ever change, ever.

  • @metallicstucco You are a very sad, pathetic man sir.

  • @metallicstucco

Nice try, but the hyperbole doesn't work.

From what I see, America has not moved on from its racism at all, though no doubt most white Americans aren't openly racist. The segregation in your cities, particularly Chicago, speaks volumes about how race and class serves to continually undermine efforts by blacks to gain parity, in all ways, with whites.

The Help, ironically, is more of the same, as it speaks of black experience within a white framework.

  • @calvintoronto From what you see, America has not moved from racism at all. That was my point. Morgan Feeman said the way to do away with racism is to stop going on and on about it. Stop talking about it. Drop Black History month. White people hold on to it because it generates cash, like it did with this movie. Black people hold on to it, because they've become dependent on it. 21st century, time to move on already. Black President etc... Time to move on already...

  • @metallicstucco

I see what you're saying. Yet at the same time how can racism be dealt with if there is not an ongoing open dialogue? And what a coincidence that you mention Morgan Freeman. (See my comments further down on "the magic negro", because he's one of them.) His wealth no doubt protects him to a large extent from the daily grind experienced by so many Af-Americans.

Ok, so drop Black History Month. Fine. So, what do you propose to raise awareness of ongoing racism?

  • @metallicstucco Funny you're talking about racism and what "white people" and "black people" are doing to hold on to it...I'm a "white person" and I don't do dink to "hold onto racism."

  • @aluisious Not all people perpetuate white vs black racism in America. Just too many. It hardly exists in Europe the way it does in America, because they moved on a long time ago. Time for the USA to do the same.

  • Hear! Hear! The world descended from slavery. America did not invent slavery. Every society before the birth of America more than 200 years ago was under slavery. I am not an American and let me say this: IT'S AMERICA WHO ENDED SLAVERY!

  • @vincentrand100 Rather they were the last to end it.

  • @vincentrand100 Nope. Not even close.

  • incredible movie…hands down 10 out of 10

    \

  • Congrats to Mrs.Octavia Spencer BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS!! BRAVO!!!!

  • This movie totally deserved the oscar for the best movie and best leading actress!!!

  • Comment removed

  • wish the black guy best luck!

  • Viola Davis in "The Help" = the latest Magic Negro.

Don't know what this racist incarnation is? Type

The Magic Negro as a dangerous archetype

    in youtube and listen.

  • Really want to see this movie, but i love the book so much that i`m scared to.....If they ruined it i will be very disappointed.

  • I listen to DEATHCORE music, I play HARDCORE video games, I do BLOW, I drink like FISH, I smoke like CHIMNEY but THIS DRAMA for me is BEST movie of 2011 and one of the bests I've ever seen in my LIFE.

  • History is a mutha fudge ah!! bit.ly/cheesecakefactory-giftcard

  • love the movie, love the book

  • You is kiiiind, you is smaaaart... you is gonna be the winner of 2012 best picture oscar award!!!

  • Amazing movie.

  • Just watched this movie, I seriously couldn't stop crying at the end D;

  • this movie makes me fuckin' hate white people..

  • Omg, i just started reading the book, and then I cant wait t watcht his movie!

  • White people solve racism. LOL. My ass.

  • Well there are three types of racists and they are all white:

1st racist: The one that believes in white skinned priviledge and doesn't care

2nd racist: The one that denies white skinned priviledge and tells you "I have black friends, I don't care if you are black, white, green, or purple."

3rd racist: The one that believes there is white-skinned priviledge, but are trying to make changes.

  • @Mr40acresandamule-Then there is the 4th one that calls people out on spelling errors, regardless of white-skin PRIVILEGE or not.

  • You obviously missed my point just because you don't agree with me. People aren't going to always spell correctly. It doesn't deviate from my point.

  • Just a terrible piece of crap designed to make white people feel like they did something about racism (and I'm white). It's about how the Stone character makes-a-difference-and-don't-we-all-feel-so-good-about-that. And she's really only interested in "the help" in so far as it gets her published.

Davis and Spencer play maids. Competent, but nothing more. Davis will win an Oscar because she is The Noble One; Spencer is The Sassy One. Two stereotypes to win Oscars so white people....oh, you know.

  • u are a piece of crap

  • @calvintoronto This movie exposed how some white women in the south really treat their black maids during that era..it is believable and it is not a bunch of crap..It clearly shows that Black people are humans like everybody else who deserve to be treated as such..HUMAN. We have feelings and hurt like anybody else.I give this movie thumbs up and pray that they all get oscars..

  • @124sexylady

Of course you're right : the movie deals with how white women treated black maids. But this is news? Especially to blacks? No--and so the movie is geared to whites, & gives whites the sense that Somebody Did Something.....when actually the Stone character did fucking little except get black stories to publish her white book.

The white woman eats a shit pie. Wow. Now there's revenge. Yeah. That'll make up for all the racism & lynching.

A movie to assuage white guilt.

  • @calvintoronto First of all Skeeter could have written anything but she didnt she chose to write about the trials and tribulations of being a black maid during the fifties,Secondly it took her 60 times to try to get her book published because noone wanted to touch it especially since it was during the Civil Rights Movement..what crazt white person would risk her life in Jackson Miss to write a book about the most hated people in America duriong that time? Please read the book..

  • @124sexylady

I understand what the issues are. And good for Skeeter. But why is it that these issues are always filtered through a white consciousness? Ever hear of the term "the magic negro"? These are characters in films (often played by Morgan Freeman) whose sole purpose is to help white people come to terms with something. Blacks are always cast in a supporting role. And this movie continues it. Davis plays the "magic negro", to help Skeeter realize her writing dreams. Barf.

  • @calvintoronto This not about Skeeter.Skeeter became inspired to write about the maids based on her childhood experience with the black maid who raised her,Constatine..She witnessed some of the bad treatment suffered by these maids and wanted to tell their story..What is wrong with that?

  • @124sexylady

lady, you're missing my point. There's nothing wrong with what Skeeter does or that she exposes racism etc etc. My point is, is that black experience is very often filtered, in Hollywood, through white experience. Why wasn't a movie made WITHOUT Skeeter's framing experience? I'll tell you: it wouldn't fly in Hollywood. So, such films are made to appeal to a white demographic, and blacks end up playing "the magic negro."

  • Ok, Emma was great in this movie, but what's about Bryce? She was freaking awesome! I never thought she could play a villian that well!

  • "Hey Minny"

    "Hey Aibileen"

    "HEY Minny!"

    "Mm-Hm"

    LOL

  • if i dare to watch this movie wich i doubt a lot , is only to see emma

  • white people still really act like this.

the scene with the whaite women playing cards, when they were talking bathrooms, happened more than once this week somewhere in the u.s.

  • fucking white people, man.

    i tell you.

pretentious assholes with the same problems everyone else has.

  • As a black man. OK. I have seen the film. It’s one of them films I have seen millions of times where a nice white people come along to help helpless blacks. It’s easy to watch the film and believe that racism is only something from the bad old days. However it was very good at showing how white solidarity works : How whites who seem well-meaning will go against their own beliefs to act in racist ways so as not to rock the boat. Skeeter showed that in her courage in standing up to the racism

  • @denilson200 I totally agree..She look beyond race and stood for what she believed in..she took a chance when noone else would dare to..Being young like she was who would want to listen to her if she talked about it openly around JAckson, Miss.?Loved this movie!!!

  • of other whites. Skeeter’s mother showed it in lacking such courage, finding herself cold-heartedly kicking out Cicely Tyson’s character from her house, a woman who had faithfully served her for 27 years. It was also good at showing how most whites are completely unconcerned how racist their society is. As Skeeter’s boyfriend put it : *Why change anything, everything is fine the way it is!* Completely leaving out the fact that it was hardly fine for black people.

  • do you think Emma's hair is real for this movie or is it a wig?

  • lol 'white saviour' movie yet again

  • @hecubusXX I know!

  • i so fucking wanna watch this movie

  • Black women are ugly.

  • @Killbot1776 kinda ironic comment considering the main theme for this movie

  • @Killbot1776 u jerk...how dare u!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Killbot1776 wat bout halle berry??? she ugly too???

  • @princess12360198

Pick a better example, racist could easily say her white side makes her attractive...don't walk into that trap. lol

  • @Killbot1776 then why do blond bimbos artificially augment their lips, tits and hips/ass, and get tans, something that comes natural to a black woman.

because thin lips, a flat ass, mosquito bite tits and dry white flaky skin are not sexy and come natural to white women.

so if black women are ugly then white women are atrocious. hidious.

  • @Omniverse77 Nigger bitches are highly desirable. Once you get past the ape appearance, the steel wool hair, shovel noses, shitty attitude, extreme obesity, foul odors, and astronomically high rates of std infections, there's a woman we could all love.

  • @Punishment314 rather all that than a flat ass, thin lips, no tits, microscopic moustaches and beards and flakey skin.

  • @Punishment314 and your probably a piece of white trash living in 'yer trailer, with only one front tooth, collecting that last umemployment check and a little pink penis that got you in trouble last year for trying to stick it inside your sister.

so enjoy your caged pet racoon, smoking your marlboro's or wintsons, being a bald headed pot bellied sex offender and your long can of budweiser while watching nascar on your black and white tv with a confederate trucker hat on. HAHAHA!

  • @Omniverse77 You know Omni, lot of your comments seem to be condescending to whites. For saying that we are 'inherently racist' (your words, not mine, darling!) you seem to be quite adept at singin' that prejudice, ignorant and racist tune.

Now, I'm not sure where you get off saying those things, but it does paint you out to be a big ole' hypocritcal-troll to the Nth degree. Might I suggest seeing a psychologist? Might work out that case of ingrained stupid you seem to be suffering from.

  • @Punishment314 you stupid asshole, IM FUCKING WHITE too and i DO NOT treat african people like that!! more RESPECT PLEASE! @Punishment314 u dont have to deal with this asshole..

  • @Killbot1776 they smell bad too lol

  • The coca-cola scene looks SO FUCKING TASTY!

    mother of god..

  • I ain't overacting when I say this is the best movie I've ever seen..

I seriously enjoyed every second of it, can't wait for it to be released on iTunes so I can watch it all over again.

  • Just so you guys know, this movie is based on a book. Their is nothing racist about this movie nor the book. Stop being so ignorant and have an open mind.

  • @YouGarbage327 it shows that all white people are racist. they just hide it in public and practice it behind close doors and pass it on to their kids.

  • Just saw the movie. Probably one of the most greatest and emotional films I have seen in a long time. Pity that this trailer makes it seem like a comedy when it is actually a very raw and dramatic movie. I have to say, as much as I love Meryl Streep, I truly believe the Oscar should go to Viola Davis. Watch this movie, and you will truly see why. And it had a remarkable cast!

  • Hollywood is ever going to stop making these "whiteys saving defenseless black people" flicks?

Last time i checked an history book Ali and Malcolm X were black people,NOT WHITE

  • This film is the BIGGEST shit ever happened to movie world. Super silly, stupid, mediocre and racist piece of shit. Shame on you, Academy people !!!

  • @adasha38 Retard..... The movied isn't trying to be racist, It's a realistifc account for what happened in the south during the 50s..... That's like saying pearl harbor is being too violent.... this shit actually happened...

  • i love dis movie..

  • @1980mslou "dis" movie? u must be a relative of one of the nigger maids.

  • I love Minny. She is a BOSS.

  • This movie isn't worth watching

  • so whats the song on 1:17?

  • Typical recreation of WHITE PEOPLE HELPING BLACK PEOPLE AS IF WE WERE HELPLESS AND ALWAYS IN DISTRESS. THEY'RE JUST TRYING TO MAKE IT LIKE "OH, WE ALWAYS HELP THEM, WE'RE SO GOOD TO THEM!"

  • @MrXavier789 actually, I think it's more about history...and events that really happened.

  • @MrXavier789

Right. And that's why the majority of white people in that movie were so nice to them right? You're a moron. Stop playing the victim.

  • @DarkmatterDM Things were not like that then. Black people saved themselves, there was little help from others. I can't believe you're taken in by this movie. Hollywood is trying to sugarcoat it. A movie can't make the past seem kinder, you fool.

  • @MrXavier789

Exactly how do you know that times weren't like that back then? Not everyone that was white were evil people torturing black people just for the hell of it. Why would they? Your stupid victimized shit of "Hurr durr white man still holding me down! Life ain't fair, Film putting me down!". Get over it. Either way why don't you just go watch Precious over and over and claim that is an accurate film of your people while the double standard of racism in this world

  • @DarkmatterDM Forget the proverbial figure of the white saviour.

  • @MrXavier789

Remember that Segregation ended half a decade ago and the white man isn't as evil as you'd like him to be.

  • @DarkmatterDM Remember that segregation only ended half a [century] ago and the white man isn't as good as you'd like him to be.

  • @MattAlgren Now that dosen't seem to stop racists like you, does it?

  • @MrXavier789 No this movie is not just about race..its about how stupid and dumb some whites and black people are..You saw Minny about to get beat up by Leroy just because she lost her job,u saw Emma let someone else fire her maid even when she knew she was wrong.. these women were brainwashed into believing that they were superior..even bashing their own ,it makes u think about how strong black women were back then.

  • @124sexylady

And while we're at it, let's look at the black men. Uh....hmmmm...no black men. And when they are referred to, what have they been doing? Beating up women.

And it was Emma's oh-so-liberal mother who fired the maid. And what happens? The mother then tells the bitch white woman off. Wow. Yeah. That makes up for everything now, right?

If this movie actually focused PRIMARILY on black women's (and men's) experience, it would be interesting. But it's Hollywood 100% white.

  • @calvintoronto

They're are black guys that beat women...not every black has to be shown in positive light . Nelsan Ellis was in the film, well dressed and flawless like always. Shame on you for not recognizing. I don't think the film focused on making up for bad behavior. Skeeter's mom was horrible and she was dying of cancer period.

  • @Deepstarr7020 I agree..this movie is not about domestic violence or raciacil profiling..this movie is solely based on the the day-to-day interactions between white southern women and their black maids..it is not about lynchings, violence etc and about black men..

  • @calvintoronto BOY DO U SOUND BITTER!! lOOK THIS MOVIE ISN't PERFECT..IT HAS FLAWS..But at the same time it is what it is.. People do have a change of heart and it dosent matter what race u are..No it dosent make up for years and years of slavery ,discrimination and Ignorance..but it shows how good and how evil some people were back then and makes u think how we have progressed since then..we still have a long way to go..but brother..i feel u..I

  • 170 People likes 2 pieces of shitty cake... :D

  • I cried at the end of the movie when she left the little girl.

  • of all the powerful things women did in black history, they make a movie about maids?

  • just watched this. Great movie. But why do I always watch the trailer after I see the movie?

  • So this is where Rita Skeeter came from....

  • watching this right now... wanna smack the fuck out of these stuck up retarded witch bitchs....im mean fuck! lol

  • It's a REALLY good movie. I watched it last night. It's really sad, even the end was sort of sad. But there are good parts too. It's SO good! 4-5 stars!

  • OMG I neeed to go watch this.....okay, I'm gonna go now and find it and watch it. Now.

  • After watching The Help I completely hate whites..

  • @ArthurHammerr Why on earth would you say that? All human beings have treated each other terribly for centuries, of all races. And I'll tel you one thing, it's the men that start all this horrible stuff, we women don't want war or hate or tears. That's like saying you hate all Germans cause you had relatives die in camps, like mine did. That's not right and does nothing to stop this mess. Don't hate, treat others right and if everyone did this, the world may change.

  • When I saw the trailer I thought it was going to be some comedy but then I found out what The Help actually meant. Watching it tonight!

  • what is the song 0.36-1.07

  • i've just watched it, Epic movieee!

  • this movie was awesome i cried soooo hard you have to see it

  • Best Movie Ever..

  • No Explosions=Shit Movie

  • i love that southern american accent... too sweet

  • This movie is so good and the book is even better but I live both of them great story

  • I neeever cry at the movies but this film had me in tear but also laughter. My mum made me go with her so obviously, I went with a closed mind. But it was absolutely amazing. One of the best films I have seen! Totally recommended for any age!

  • Emma Stone. Enough said.

  • Hahaha this is a fantastic film 10/10, Bravo!!!

  • Anyone know if this is already out in the UK, or if not, when it will be? Such a fan of the book, really can't wait to see the film! :-)

  • I watched this film last night. Amazing, touching and a beautiful film. Perfectly made and directed 5 stars ! Very sad in parts. Thank god things have changed now and moved on. It hurts me to think that things were like this once. The film was great all the way through and had such funny moments in it too ! Would like to watch it again ! The trailer do it justice at all !

  • film of the year

  • I didnt think I would like the book or movie but i loved BOTH. I thank long, international flights for turning me on to movies I normally wouldn't think of watching.

  • ima see this movie

    AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

  • omg this is a great movie funny, sad but always interesting if you haven't read the book or seen the movie you should do both!

I almost think there should be more too it like their lives after *spoiler*

aibileen is fired and when Yule may gets out of jail but other than that it's great!

  • Though we are in 2012 there are still people with white skin and a black soul, that deserve to eat shit too!

  • i gotta watch this movie

  • i cryed its so good, i read the book twice and watched the movie 5 times

  • The HELP...NO MExiCANS???

  • The trailer makes the movie look more like a comedy but it isn't . It has its funny moments but it's more of a drama, a very good, touching and memorable one. Loved it and I recommend it to y'all.

  • Movie is good, but again, nothing special..maybe I will never see again some special movie..i lose hope:)

  • Watched this film last night, one of the best ones i've seen in a while. Cried when the little girl wanted Abie to come back.

  • does somebody know what's the songs names??????

  • Where's Stuart? He was one of my favourite characters, partially because it was the only bit of romance in the entire movie...

  • this movie was so awesome goto:

    watchmoviesforfreeonline[dot]net

  • How many people know that THIS FILM is an Indian co-production...Reliance entertainment!

  • @cmjproductions1986 How many people care.....0

  • @emilyinbetweener

Nobody probably...But that explains why Americans think they are the best...If someone ELSE achieves something, the American doesn't even know...

  • @cmjproductions1986 Ohhh fair enough, i get ya now.
