I think the argument that 'because you havn't played, you don't know' is completely overated. Vin Scully never took a pitch in MLB, but knows the game. Hub Arkesh never played a snap in the NFL and he damn well knows what he's talking about. I think its an athletes hiding place honestly. Does it help or give an insight to the game? Sure. However, its not a silver bullet to win any argument.

I really don't get how Jason could have lost this argument. He didn't. It's his column, he knows whether or not he's changing his story, he knows the motive behind what he wrote. Bernstein tried to sneak through by accusing him of changing the story when he told you point blank that the conversation wasn't about the column.

@DrumSet701 Yeah your right but the problem that Bernstein had was actually with what Witlock wrote in his column, which was indeed an opinion but based off no substance. Bernsetin did catch him changing the story about the article because he never stated in the article that his mental approach in the beginning or his general demeanor was an issue, he just flat out accused Cutler of quitting. That's the intended conversation Bernstein wanted. So in essence, Whitlock danced around in his defense.
