I use both platforms. Right now I feel that Lion is FAR superior to Windows in almost every conceivable way. I'm basing this statement on stability, multitasking and ease of use. Lion and SL seem to focus heavily on multitasking which makes sense since all of these new chips have multiple cores where as Windows only has Alt + Tab. Now that we have all seen what Windows 8 is going to be like we can rest assure that OSX will continue to beat Windows.

Really, the only thing that i dislike about Mac computers, is the lack of upgradability. Especially in their desktop range. That's why i run a hackintosh. As for laptops, i would only ever buy one made by Apple. The quality is beyond anything else on the market and upgradability isn't such an issue as laptops tend to become redundant in 2 years anyway.
The reason i like Mac OS X more than Windows? I find the user interface much more powerful and elegant. But, you can't beat Windows for gaming,

I deserted from a Macbook Pro to an HP Envy 17 and im happy as fuck. It just feels more complete and for less money. A better machine and saved €700 = a nice weekend in France.
I have to disagree with the video editing reason on the list. Ive been editing with CS5 on my Win7 machine and I have no issues with it, not too mention that I could have got CS5 preinstalled (bundled) with my machine when I got it.
Windows does everything a mac does. There isnt a single thing a mac can do that a windows machine cant. (Software programs available only on mac dont count because theres no reason they couldent work on windows the company just chooses not to) The only reason windows gets a bad rap is because people tend to be really good at breaking it and because manufacturers change stuff they shouldent. Not that OS X is bad. It just does most of what windows does but in a very narrow closed way.
@LOTRzagorath I've had Windows for many years. I've had my computers freeze, boot up without displaying my full desktop, and programs crash from regular use. I even got a virus once, although that was my fault. However, I have never encountered the infamous screen. And the errors I've gotten in Parallels are things I've gotten on Windows machines.

An OS that controls less than 10% of the market running on proprietary hardware isn't a lack of competition, it's just vertical control of a single market segment. Apple still has to compete with Microsoft, Linux, Amiga and Google for control of the software market and umpteen third party PC manufacturers for control of the hardware market.

Chris, that is definitely a plus, with Mac OS, keeping bugs out of the hardware and software. That sad thing is, it seems to bring on higher prices due to less competition. Its an unfair trade off. One would think that conformity and less problems (with less tech support needed) would bring about lower prices...
I use windows only for gaming. The rest of my activities I do on Mac OS X. You have to test each of them to choose which is better, don't change to a new OS without know what you getting into.
For me a windows machine is better. I have a budget of £700 and I need a computer I can use for video editing and 3d work. If I got a mac then I would have to get an i5 mac mini. If I get a pc then I can get an i7 2600k (!) and a good graphics card that I can upgrade. So for me, windows is the better option.
I have both.. macbook pro, imac and two windows desktop machines as well as an enigma 3 windows machine.... some games wont run on mac.. run apps like vmware? never!
The main reason that makes me think Mac/OSX is better than Windows/PC's, is that almost everything is simple... and they are more durable than PC's...

@theoldschoolnerd i agree you don't get the fastest hardware out of it but I've owned a 24" iMac for over 2 years and its still working very well so there is something to be said for that. all the dedicated windows machines would run into issues every few months. i do still like both.
@TintStuff If you set up your own PC and configure it your way you want then it won't fail on you (too much). I'm not a fan of Microsoft in any way but I'm sure ain't a fan of apple either. MAC is too "locked up" system.. You can't upgrade stuff as easy as with your own machine.
i based what i like on past expierience, When i was on Windows, I HAD MANY FREEZE-UPS and in general my Pc never ran well.Then in 2006 i switched to Mac and since that time its been worry free, now thats not saying Mac is better, but it is saying my NEXT Computer will be a MAC just based on past expierience alone.

I guess I understand the principal argument, but really hardware is hardware and it complies with standards (usually). Besides, now-a-days Macs are all PC architecture anyways. I'd say the problem has more to do with the software, specifically drivers versus dealing with a larger hardware platform aggregation.
I say the same thing to people all the time. We all are entitled to our own opinion on whether mac is better than windows. I like the control that apple has over their OS and how simple it is. I grew up using windows on pc's, but when I got a mac I never went back. It was so much easier to use, and i lovd the simplicity of it. even though I work on computers, I would rather not have to figure out how to do something i've been doing for years again every time a new version of the OS is released.

I love mac, it is perfect for me, mainly because i don't like keyboard gaming, so playing on a xbox, iphone, psp, ds is perfectly fine for me. I can, and have customized my experience very much and with the latest release, have managed to free up 200gbs of space on my 4 year old macbook. It is still running like a champ, believe it or not, but it has overall gotten faster than when i first got it. I love simplicity, and mac takes out all of the complexity.

Virus makers would have a huge incentive to make some for mac, for a few reasons. 1, there are no other viruses to compete with. 2, Bragging rights, i'd imagine most pc users really want to infection macs just so they can fully prove that osx is not invincible. 3, there is no main virusscanning support on macs, and many don't even have a scanner just because it is not needed.
I didn't like this article, these articles could have been written 5 years ago. It is comprised of mostly general "knowledge" spread throughout the internet by PC users. Less viruses section is exactly the comeback (word for word) from a PC user, to try and belittle macs glory (not to say there is much glory to be had). The reality is that Os X is a more secure os, largely to the fact that apple controls everything in its ecosystem. The whole virus user-based argument has no truth to it.
Apple is a much simplier os, and just for that reason alone all the fatuous people of the world enable it to exist. I'm not saying mac osx is bad just that you have to be an idiot to use it (like myself.) Also, in a way, windows is far behind the world is becoming a shit hole filled with idiots that only know how to browse the internet on their iPads, iPhones, and macs(macbook air hahaha.)

Chris, you may use both Windows and Mac OS X but Windows is not your primary OS. I very rarely see you running it whether it be in your live stream or on YouTube. Thus you don't truly understand that it is just as easy to fix a problem in Windows as it is in OS X. I use both OS's every day. I've had more issues with my Mac than my PC and have always had an easier time solving an issue on my PC whether it be a software or hardware issue. Windows is great for gaming. Mac is great for music and video editing. What you do with a mac you can do with a PC. Most of the time is is harder on windows. I would not write HTML or Script on Mac OS X. PC is the backbone of the consumer market. Without Microsoft, Apple would not be here today. Microsoft saved apple, without MS Office, iWorks would not be here. Without Internet Explore, Safari would not be here. Apple makes great hardware. I own a mac and pc. I also love Linux. .. (continuing) because i have customized my Windows enough that i can keep it stable and crash/problem free pretty much all the time. My windows doesn't crash for years and i never turn it off. The only problem i have is because i dont close tabs on Firefox, then after a while firefox pulls over 2gigs of ram and i need to end the task, but that takes seconds and im used to it. So on my case i would have 2 completly stable OS, so for that reason i stick with Windows, it's still bug free for me.
Talking about unasked opinions ;). Im a long time windows user, but i have an open mind. I really like studying, so i like to browse pretty much evey OS i can to expand my knowledge, the only reason i didn't get a Mac earlier is because on my country they are pretty much unobtainable (cheapest Mac is 2000USD (air)). I saved enough money this year to get the new iphone and a Macbook Pro, i havent tested the iphone yet, but im in love with my Mac. However i wouldn't be able to have a mac as a main

The reason MAC's are so expensive is because it has stuff like Photoshop which is good, but not everyone wants to use EVERYTHING that comes with a MAC. Also, an obvious thing which clearly isn't since some people are too stupid to realize that MACs are full blown computers, however Windows is simply an OS.

I have both.. macbook pro, imac and two windows desktop machines as well as an enigma 3 windows machine.... some games wont run on mac.. run apps like vmware? never!

@uruk912 that's the strenght of both Mac and Windows. It's the greatest benefit of OS X that it only runs on Macs and the greatest strength of Windows that it runs anywhere. It is also the very thing that enabled Apple to make easy, well-working software, and that makes the same thing so hard for Microsoft

I'm not a windows fan boy by any stretch. I love Arch Linux but that's me.
Isn't the versatility and the idea that it runs on anything the stronghold of windows?
I.E. Some random person being able to build their own pc with any parts Vs a person being forced to buy something that needs to be compatible for apple?

@theoldschoolnerd i agree you don't get the fastest hardware out of it but I've owned a 24" iMac for over 2 years and its still working very well so there is something to be said for that. all the dedicated windows machines would run into issues every few months. i do still like both.

@TintStuff If you set up your own PC and configure it your way you want then it won't fail on you (too much). I'm not a fan of Microsoft in any way but I'm sure ain't a fan of apple either. MAC is too "locked up" system.. You can't upgrade stuff as easy as with your own machine.

i based what i like on past expierience, When i was on Windows, I HAD MANY FREEZE-UPS and in general my Pc never ran well.Then in 2006 i switched to Mac and since that time its been worry free, now thats not saying Mac is better, but it is saying my NEXT Computer will be a MAC just based on past expierience alone.

It is not a battle between Mac and PC. Hard ware is hard war, it doesn't matter what logo is no the outside. The question is; weather Mac OS is better than Windows. Windows gets a bad rap because people buy PCs like their loaves of bread; they go to the store and buy whatever the salesman gives them. If you buy a $400 PC, you get the piece of shit you paid for.
For me, Windows is better because I am a Hard core gamer, HTPC user, and Videophile. none of which I can do on a MAC

I guess I understand the principal argument, but really hardware is hardware and it complies with standards (usually). Besides, now-a-days Macs are all PC architecture anyways. I'd say the problem has more to do with the software, specifically drivers versus dealing with a larger hardware platform aggregation.

I say the same thing to people all the time. We all are entitled to our own opinion on whether mac is better than windows. I like the control that apple has over their OS and how simple it is. I grew up using windows on pc's, but when I got a mac I never went back. It was so much easier to use, and i lovd the simplicity of it. even though I work on computers, I would rather not have to figure out how to do something i've been doing for years again every time a new version of the OS is released.

I love mac, it is perfect for me, mainly because i don't like keyboard gaming, so playing on a xbox, iphone, psp, ds is perfectly fine for me. I can, and have customized my experience very much and with the latest release, have managed to free up 200gbs of space on my 4 year old macbook. It is still running like a champ, believe it or not, but it has overall gotten faster than when i first got it. I love simplicity, and mac takes out all of the complexity.

Virus makers would have a huge incentive to make some for mac, for a few reasons. 1, there are no other viruses to compete with. 2, Bragging rights, i'd imagine most pc users really want to infection macs just so they can fully prove that osx is not invincible. 3, there is no main virusscanning support on macs, and many don't even have a scanner just because it is not needed.

I didn't like this article, these articles could have been written 5 years ago. It is comprised of mostly general "knowledge" spread throughout the internet by PC users. Less viruses section is exactly the comeback (word for word) from a PC user, to try and belittle macs glory (not to say there is much glory to be had). The reality is that Os X is a more secure os, largely to the fact that apple controls everything in its ecosystem. The whole virus user-based argument has no truth to it.

Chris, you may use both Windows and Mac OS X but Windows is not your primary OS. I very rarely see you running it whether it be in your live stream or on YouTube. Thus you don't truly understand that it is just as easy to fix a problem in Windows as it is in OS X. I use both OS's every day. I've had more issues with my Mac than my PC and have always had an easier time solving an issue on my PC whether it be a software or hardware issue. Don't respond to a question with a nonexistent answer.

Windows is great for gaming. Mac is great for music and video editing. What you do with a mac you can do with a PC. Most of the time is is harder on windows. I would not write HTML or Script on Mac OS X. PC is the backbone of the consumer market. Without Microsoft, Apple would not be here today. Microsoft saved apple, without MS Office, iWorks would not be here. Without Internet Explore, Safari would not be here. Apple makes great hardware. I own a mac and pc. I also love Linux. They all do suck

.. (continuing) because i have customized my Windows enough that i can keep it stable and crash/problem free pretty much all the time. My windows doesn't crash for years and i never turn it off. The only problem i have is because i dont close tabs on Firefox, then after a while firefox pulls over 2gigs of ram and i need to end the task, but that takes seconds and im used to it. So on my case i would have 2 completly stable OS, so for that reason i stick with Windows, it's still bug free for me.

I really like studying, so i like to browse pretty much evey OS i can to expand my knowledge, the only reason i didn't get a Mac earlier is because on my country they are pretty much unobtainable (cheapest Mac is 2000USD (air)). I saved enough money this year to get the new iphone and a Macbook Pro, i havent tested the iphone yet, but im in love with my Mac. However i wouldn't be able to have a mac as a main

The reason MAC's are so expensive is because it has stuff like Photoshop which is good, but not everyone wants to use EVERYTHING that comes with a MAC. Also, an obvious thing which clearly isn't since some people are too stupid to realize that MACs are full blown computers, however Windows is simply an OS.
