  • And let's not forget the 1 range and comparable low moving speed which allows any unit to kite them.

  • 15, 35 vs armored damage is a joke... so weak for a fuckin t3 unit which is only capable of attacking ground and requires 6 building levels...

  • i really dislike ultralisks in this game... they just don't seem strong enough. It is cool that they can burrow though.

  • @c0mbineelite i think they just need to make them a bit faster and maybe lower the collision size a little (cuz on maps with small chokes they are useless). Other than that i think they are fine. But srly, on 4v4 and maybe 3v3, one base ultra is a prty lawl cheeze (unless some dicktoss onebase voidrays your kinda screwed, but thats what your team is for rite?)

  • personally, zerg are my fav race but... ultralisks will never really be used in pro games, there are just too much counter units vs them... think of immortals

    compared to the other's tier 3, Ultra isnt super great. ex (BC, Carrier, MS) they are just good at taking out infantry.

    and to those wanting to argue that all they need is tanks,thors and BC's? seriously? ultra's CANT HIT BC, fuck a banshee could win. and if your playing someone that isnt using a variety even AFTER seeing you use air? Their not bright, or you got lucky in a match up. corrupters + hydra's are the AAofZ XD

  • Looks like Blizzard has made ultras a much more powerful unit.

  • You'd better run for your life if you saw 5 or more of those Ultralisks coming after you if you're playing with the Terrans.

  • why are ultralisks amazing against terran?

  • They have 3-4 armor points, 600 hp, speedy, inflicts 40 damage per strike, and one of their upgrades is downright cheesy: instead of hitting one enemy at a time, their attacks can hit multiple enemies per slash. They're so evil, one ultralisk can make quick work out of a good size army of marines (about 15 or more). To tell you the truth I'm no know-it-all, but that's what I saw on a starcraft website in any stacraft 2 stuff.

  • Because nobody used them in first SC, so they want to make it up for the poor little neglected overgrown monsters.

  • In any starcraft website, I saw they're expensive, about 300 minerals, 200-250 v-gas, around 55-60 seconds to make one, but it's all worth it! To kill a bunch of them use a massive army of Thors, Marauders and Siege Tanks. As the Protoss, use plenty Immortals and Archons, and High Templar/Mothership support or air units.

  • From what we've seen the Ultras look incredibly deadly in SC2. Hope we get to see a higher prevalence of them. These are probably the coolest looking Zerg units, IMO.

  • In one interview sith Blizzard staff I read that they are suprised that Ultrals are so rare used. Guess they fix them :)

  • It's a multi player demo...they let the progamers try it out., so that they can try to balance the races

  • Don't listen to Bee. Its the Alpha version. Its just basicly to test out how the game functions before it goes into the beta. Then it shiups to stores.

  • Their almost the same as ultras accept that they have tentacles that ramdomly skewer enemies but since it was a random factor it didnt go well with competitive play so they removed it

    I mean, then cloaked units in general would be stupid... You would see when a zerg burrows and could just attack the hole and if a cloaked ship is attacking you, then you would just shoot the place where the missiles are coming from, right?

  • overall? maybe ^^ easiest to control without microing.

    however, protoss can have a very strong devense against zerg /offence as well. ^^ reavers/PS/archon/corsairs. +cannons if you want. takes a little microing, but basically impossible to break with zerg. ground is ripped by PS, reavers. long range is stopped by disruption web. light units are torn by archons, gaurdians are torn by PS, and corsairs ^^ but terrans can more or less set up, and pay attention to others GO TERRAN!

    terran are balanced at least.

    if protoss has PS, Archon, Reaver, Corsair, i've yet to have any zerg be affective, and yet to beat that combo with zerg.

    I may be a primary zerg player, but i like playing as all of them, i just hope they balance things out more in sc2, PS, is WAY OP, and dont get me started on immortals. T_T

  • No, Protoss are not overpowered, especially on normal maps. SC is one of the most balanced games I have ever played, on fastest maps protoss seem more overpowered because part of what hurts that race is the cost of everythiing they have to build. Dont get you started on immortals? Look at these ultras demolish everything in their way and tell me how THAT is balanced.

  • the queen's ability for larva counter balance the zelot rush, PS, costs way to low, and will obliterate zerg forces.

    Ultra's look strong, cause they are only tearing through marines, BASIC units. 6 shots from siege mode destroys 1 ultra but we are talking bout pro arent we? immortal will deal 30dmg killing in 20 hits, ultra will deal 10 killing in 39 hits. and what of PS? you didnt voice your opinion on that. I think the cost is too low for the dmg output. otherise fine. I <3 playing all of em

  • So siege tanks in siege mode takes 6 shots to destroy one ultra? Lets say half your defensive line is 6 siege tanks, and 2 bunkers. 6 ultras come up, all 6 siege tanks fire at one killing it. 5 are left rampaging through your siege tanks as they are in siege more and cant attack close; soon the tanks are done and the bunker doesnt have a chance - maybe the zerg loses 1 ultra and destroys the base.

    Frankly, SC is perfectly balanced and so will be SC2.

  • again you avoid protoss.

    1. 6 ultras are 3000 resources, vs 2200 res, if there are 4 marines. zerg are using more resources

    2. 6 siege tanks can chunk 2-3 before they even get to the bunker. that's NOT counting splash. with splash, probably could chunk 5 of them.

    3. if 6 siege tanks can't shoot anything beside 1 of them, you probably shouldnt be playing terran, if you cant use their units right.

    4. Ultra's are tier 3, if terran doesnt have tier 3 yet, they are asking to die.

    SC was the best balanced RTS I have ever played, and I have played a lot. SC took years to get it completely balanced and perfect like it is, tons of little updates - next time you play SC and it updates, READ THROUGH everything they have changed. It shows Blizzard's dedication to their product.

    I expect nothing less of SC2, and in fact, am expecting quite a lot more. Normally, like I did with Halo, I would worry the sequel will suck.

  • agreed. they continually update and modify to make it as balanced as possible. they mod because it is NOT perfectly balanced, odds are against it ever bieng.

    I commend them as well for their dedication.

    I'm sure I will feel differently about protoss after 5-6 updates after Legacy of the Void comes out.

    Now I just wished they'd finnish up the rest, release it, then update it as they get more in depth replies from players (not just in Korea XD)

  • that's assuming that the tanks are all seiged and ready behind bunkers. not every battlefield situation has the zerg idiotically sending their expensive units against a fortified position like that. And actually in the current build ultralisks seem to withstand seige tank more than reasonably well, i doubt 5 of them would die before they got to the bunkers. they were weaker in SC1 and in SC1 they definitely wouldnt lose 5 ultras before reaching them.

    and i agree they are stronger, atk wise, and hp, BUT the siege tanks, last i read did 100 dmg to armored units 6 X 100 =600 = 1 Ultra's life.

    in number 1, siege didnt do quite that much right? like, 60-70 when everyone's fully upgraded? but they had that ability to run! T_T i havent read any return of that skill T_T

    i retract my 6 siege tank statement. XD 7 shots to chunk 1 and drop 3 to half (+marine fire)

  • from the videos that i have seen. the colossus looks pretty weak. the only time the colossus looks like a beast is when it is facing smaller units. Like lets say it will wipe out 10 zerglings. with like 2 shots of the laser. but yeah. im not sure. nothing is facts yet. everything changes everyday in the new starcraft

    blizzard should make an upgrade for the hydra to be able to launch spines, and start them off with just melee blades
