@rockermanmatt in my world? Just by saying that I see u fail at understanding me yet again. I only have but so much patience for those who lack the obvious so I'll end talking here before my lack of patience for ur lack of simple comprehension becomes an annoyance. Good luck to you.
@rockermanmatt by stating any comment u leave urself open to anybody else's as well. Thats how youtube works. Comment, expect a reply at some point. Sticking ur nose in ur finger may be clever to some depending on how and why it's done. You can't say someone is wrong for thinking it's clever. It's opinion!! U seem to keep failing to grasp the concept of opinion. That's why this discussion is going nowhere.
@rockermanmatt You say u didn't mean it like that and I know it, when in reality, you're wrong. I did think you meant it like that. Second, Frasier IS a 'clever' and 'sophisticated' as those ppl think it is. Again, it's called opinion. Just because u disagree doesn't make you right. It makes u the older of ur own opinion. Saying others are wrong in their opinion based on their judgement is pure ignorance. Besides all that, my last comment to u was 7 months ago for crying out loud...
@rockermanmatt the writing on Frasier isn't as good as I think. You understand how comepletely stupid and impossible that statement was right? It's based on my opinion, so yes, the writing on Frasier IS as good as I THINK. Because, um... well... it's what I THINK! Yeah some episodes of Frasier aren't excellent, especially after Season 5, but they are still full of excellent moments and writing. It's called opinion. In other words, what I think.
The boys do have a point though - critics would have noticed the similarity of structure, and even if they praised the book for it as the brothers did, given his reaction here Houghton would've hated hearing about that and wished he'd never published it.
I can imagine a writer like him detesting the idea of his book going into history as a "Dante reinvention". I might actually give Frasier and Niles credit here, as bigheaded as they may be.
Reading that manuscript was the dumbest thing Niles and Frasier did throughout the series. Dumber than the restaurant, trying to write their own book, working together in the same office or throwing one of their ill fated parties.
I still love how they are able to justify their wrongdoing.
paused at 0:05 - my prediction: they spill wine or something on the manuscript and get busted, or they read the whole thing and realise it isnt very good.
It might just be because I read a lot, but I find myself strangely taking Frasier and Niles' side for reading the book. It's weird when Daphne criticises them (Although that's just because she looks through Niles' work briefcase in an episode.)
I can understand Martin's anger too, but if Frasier and Niles had befriended a baseball player and he let them know he had plans to move clubs, I think Martin would've peeked. I guess I just empathize with Frasier and Niles really wanting to read it.
frasier and niles are soulmates! How I long for ONE companion who enjoyes the same kind of musics and literture and art and food. A person who could feel the excitment I would feel when I hear or read a certain passage. Frasier and Niles should know how lucky they are.
@hbanana7 I know what you mean. It's really nice to have someone who shares so many common loves/interests with me. I feel very lucky that my little sister is the Niles to my Frasier. We compete over everything much like them as well. Haha. : )
It was a doubleheader. The next doesn't start until 30 minutes after the first one ends. + if you include travel time, it's logical the two ivy leaguers could finish an average length book in that amount of time.
Also, on an unrelated note, i love how this episode doesn't go with the obvious ending of them spilling something on or accidentally burning the book. This was so much better. Excellent writing.
@Kelm48103 -it would have been stronger if the author had revealed to Marty in the lift that it was only a copy he had been working on and he threw it out to scare the boys
@tumadoireacht oh no way. That woulda been a surprise ending, but it wouldn't have been stronger. It would've ruined the overall tone of the story and made it just another comedy. A dumbed down comedy, like Friends or Everybody Loves Raymond. I could see them pulling a joke like that, not Frasier. Writing is too good. Plus, if the author had done that, it wouldn't match with the serious nature of his character. It wouldn't have fit. This ending was too original to be ruined by such a bad joke.
@Kelm48103 shoot it took me several hours to read a GOOSEBUMPS book when I was a kid, but I'm sure the book they read was multitudes bigger than that. I own Dante's Divine Comedy. If it's anything as big as that book, I personally, despite their Ivy League ness, cannot believe they read that in several hours. No no.
I would just make copies and read it later.
