hi, sundeep, im at leeds met doing landscape architecture at the mo..just wondered what program you used to fit the proposed building into the real life footage? great vid by the way! :)
@neeeko7 Hi neeko7, I used a mixture of programs actually... for the model itself I used Cinema4D, for tracking the real life footage I used Boujou, and for masking out people walking by and for adding the 3D footage to live footage I used After Effects.
@BinnyNL thanks for the advice man. Yeah I had to use very low settings (and had to suffer with the flickr) due to time constraints - this was more or less rendered and put together the night before the exhibition - better than nothing! I was happy with the compromise since it gave a more conceptual feel. In fact, a lot of people (who dont know C4D or rendering all that well) quite liked the flickering!lol
I'll probably re-render it using vray or AR3 in R11.5 when I have time. keep an eye out!
Thanks for your comment, but I think it fits quite well because of the contrast between the two adjacent buildings. Plus with a lot of my designs, the spaces that are created inside the building are more important than the look from outside. I appreciate your opinion!
@B0g0ev , I agree with you. It doesn't fit in. The building itself is good, however, the buildings on either side have different materials and completely different styles to the one that you have created. But a nice building none the less :P
hehe i se u were using GI right?..and got the crapy shadows error when rendering in video mode! we just dont use it anymore for videos...its a shame but the time u save placing lights to achieve that ilumination you will expend it later fixing the crazy shadows.
it was rendered out with very (very!) low settings. In an architectural video/walkthrough sometimes it isnt about how crisp the renders are.. of course i'd prefer it if it was better rendered, but this video served its purpose.
The renders of sections/rooms/spaces were done with a lot more time to spare and came out better. The video was just an added extra that I did the night before my exhibition - not really required but a nice addition! So i cant complain!
Nice to see you using c4d, im doing a media and graphics course in college and seing stuff like this is inspiring (Y) hope i'll be able to do something like that in the near future
hi! it was Cinema 4D, on a 4core Mac Pro. It was rendered overnight in different segments then edited together (very quickly) for the next day's presentation!lol..
as an architecture student myself, i'm looking at doing something similar for my 1st sem 3rd year project, how long did it take you to learn cinema 4D?
This is a beautifully rendered and designed video. You have exceptional skill with Cinema 4D and I like what you can do in iMovie and AE, too. Thank you for it. You're inaccurate about the first motion picture being made in Leeds, but that doesn't matter, your vid here is the BEST motion picture made in Leeds. :)
great animation and movie! (love the music as well, it really complements the total picture)
may i ask you something: i have used cinema 4d to create 4 exhibition rooms in which i want to show roundabout 200 images by camera animation. the problem is, i don't know how to use the camera target to make an animation like you did with your movie. could you perhaps explain this to me or do you know where i could download a free tutoral? thanks in advance for your help! iris
Hello, yes you may! I used Cinema 4D for all the modeling and animation. And to put the movie together i used imovie (really easy to use) and after effects. All on a mac. :)
yeah i suppose more time could have been taken in the spaces, but this was essentially a sort of extension to my presentation/exhibition. And after seeing this video it makes you want to know more about the spaces - which directs you to see the rest of my exhibition.. :)
this project got a pretty high mark, so i guess my technique worked!
Nice! must have taken you alot of time to work out how to do this

hey, Nice video!
but I don't know if you know how to solve the problem with the shadows already.
But the flickering is caused by the GI settings. Its set to ''Still image''
If you go into the Render settings > Global illumination > Then select: Animation instead of Still image.
That will get rid off the flickering in the shadows.
Well I personal use Cinema 4D V 11.5, So I don't know If you can change the GI settings in any earlier version.

Don't get me wrong. That's quite nice project, but in my opinion it doesn't fit in the surrounding. At least the first two buildings.

The original music I had on this vid had to be changed due to copyright infringement... still, it doesnt detract much from the actual animation!

Video was a tad too fast, there wasn't enough time to fully grasp the architectural spaces.
Other than that, nice video :)

nice renderings, but u should explain the concept and elaborate more on the building's responses to its context.
