Good zhu ni should ring like a bell - this is a very good demonstration of how to evaluate pots. A great deal can be learned from the sound of clinking a tea pot. Much like with good stereo speakers, the pitch should not be too high, and the longer the sound carries the better. The same principle applies to zi sha - though the sound is quite different and much lower in register. The age of the clay, the skill of the potter and even the firing technique all will show through in the sound test.
