How long had they been riding before you joined them?

@scalothis I rode longer than anyone that day. I started last and then rode home. I did 260km for the day. I had to ride almost an hour to get to the start and waited for everyone to go and then I started.

I was already fatigued by the time I had caught the faster riders so just had to click into 6th gear and smash harder.

I was also off the back of 1100km in the previous 7 days so if I had fresh legs I would have been riding a LOT faster than in this vid.

2)What was your average speed for this race/ride?

@scalothis 1. To be honest in 1995 I rode 13km from Black wood to Happy Valley and was SHATTERED. That started me out.

2. I dont go by average speed cos it doesnt really mean much. I go by NP, TSS and IF scores. They are a MUCH more accurate view of what the ride was about. :)

You just blow past everyone. I've thought about riding again. I'm a bit afraid. It's been forever (30 years?) makes me think I've forgotten how now. "Just like riding a bike" You never forget? I roller bladed until I moved to the east coast 10 plus years ago. Over here, ppl will run your ass over if you're blading. It was super fun for me and I miss it.. : ( They bike here...and I don't understand how they don't get ran over!! It's not polite for bikes either. But, they still do it.
