Yea, I checked the level editor and found that I was right, since you hit a static object the game's physics kicked in and let you through.

Gawddamn, I should release a patch for you, I see it right there I could just fix it but I'm pretty sure the community-made patch for the game did that for me, right?

I'll throw in my two cents for you.

The devs thought that players would accidentally fall into the belt and die, so they put up an invisible wall for you so you won't fall. Unfortunately, they didn't program it well enough so when the bucket came, the wall's effect should stop, thus not allowing you to pass.
