I'd have to disagree. Green Day are just as good now as they've ever been. With American Idiot they've just gone in a different direction and had something interesting to say. I know it's hard for some people to accept change but I wouldn't respect them as much if they didn't change their style. Whats the point in playing the same music all your life? Also, if they were just out to make money surely they wouldn't have waited five years to release a new album.
