  • Congratulations Brillante Mendoza! This for me is your second best. First is Tirador (Slingshot).

  • proud to be filipino..

  • sANA WAG KANG MAGING SELL OUT!!!!

  • this movie was GREAT! just watched it a few hours ago. and i did see lots of bad reviews. people walked out apparently when it was shown, but when interviewed he said that he made it so explicit so that we become accomplices to the crime, come on, how can the brutality of the crime be expressed if its not explicit like this? the fact that people walked out to me more of shows that Brilliante presented the movie amazingly. and his is based on a true story, so for us filipinos, it hits a nerve.

  • Kudos! Daghang salamat! Inspire us Filipinos with your genius!

  • Mga Filipino, I invite you to watch some of our indie films. I bet not many of you have watched "Oro, Plata, Mata". I blame the networks who would rather show some imported garbage from the states than show good local products.

  • I did saw this movie great film OPM. Unfortunately, most filipinos don't appreciate intellectual films made by our very own.

  • Issay, good point on the love teams. It just gets old and boring. I remember watching "One More Chance" and thinking the film would be better if it ended with ambiguity regarding the characters played by the love team duo of John LLoyd and Bea. But no, love teams have to end up together in the end!

  • It is a breath of fresh air, to have movies made by directors who can challenge our senses. Hindi naman gaano ka importante kung maipapalabas ito internationally, bonus na nga yun kung tatangkilikin ng mga importanteng tao sa larangan ng film making di ba?

  • Issay, I concur. It's also great to have the first Filipino win at Cannes as best director beating the likes of Tarantino, Ang Lee, Almodovar, and Von Trier. As far as commercial vs art films, I'm glad there's room for both The domestic market will enjoy Ai-Ai comedies even a film like "Tanging Yaman" which is competent, but it will not travel well abroad. It's also good that the likes of "Maximo Oliveros" and (the divisive) "Serbis" get some attention abroad.

  • Cabalen Mabuhay Ka !!! Proud to be Pinoy and Kapampangan!

  • wow!!!..love it..absolutely,...the movie is so challenging ,..interesting,..stunning,..superb,...i adored it!...................very complex yet risky story,..brave!!!!!!!!!

  • san mo po napanuod? may pede ba pag downloadan?

  • No "honors" from the phil gov't tulad ng binibigay nila kay pacman? He deserves some, I believe.

    COngratulations!

  • congrats direk you make us proud!!!!

  • Congratulations! Direk Brilliante Mendoz! Great Job! We are so proud of you! More Powers!

  • Art comes in many form. Thanks to the "eyes" of Brillante and the jurors who were able to see art even in the most gory of scene.

  • Congratulations to Director Brillante Mendoza!

  • Congratulations! People who understand art will appreciate even gory social realism if it is a story well told/presented. Pay no attention to the idiots who seem to think that we ought to project the Philippines as some 'la la telefantasya' happy-smiles-no poverty land to get respect. The discerning can see through all that. KUDOS! Mabuhay ka Brillante!

  • wala bang video nagsalita cia???

  • sa website ng cannes. kailangang panooren lahat...

  • congratulations Brilliante!

  • I smell oscars for this movie..

  • oscars? LMAO. some people are calling it the worst movie ever shown in cannes. hello, it's for a selected audience.

  • actually, there's a possibility that this movie will get an oscar nomination at least. Esp. in foreign language film or achievement in direction.

Kinatay was tagged as "unwatched" by some critics because of its elements (e.g. violence/explicit scenes) however, oscars' jurors prefer to choose risk-taking kind-of-films like this.

    Who knows..every moment is unpredictable.

  • You're country is just jealous :P

  • By some people who have different taste it is awful... Like who? Roger ebert? People, again, have different taste...

And I think oscars choose foreign language film that are popular.. Oscars foreign language film category is a popularity contest...
