  • nice song esp the lyrics. :) i was with "him" when i first heard it. :) LSS much haha! <3 <3 <3

  • very romantic. one of my favourites.

  • Not that Peter Cetera didn't churn out his own share of syrupy ballads, but this

makes me long for the early Chicago sound.

  • Only about 100 million light years from "I'm a Man", and "Dialogues".

  • and iiiiiiiii will always love youuu

  • aaahh yeahh! (hahahahaha)

  • I'm 17 and I'm a girl. After I heard this song I told myself, "Hey, this is going to be my wedding song!" <3 AHH YEAH!!!

  • I looooooooveee this song!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ug...these are the dark years for Chicago. Terrible Adult Contemporary sound.

  • question: did peter cetera EVER sing this song? just curious...

  • @calicolombiano27 nope, this was the album after he left the band.

  • "Take me as I am.." Musical Giants and lyricists that are timeless, "My heart lost all control, now you're all that I know." Simple yet powerful. CLASSIC!

  • awfull

  • é um fora atraz do outro

  • 80's memorable hits

  • That is a beautiful song and a great performance!

  • Bands always hit the charts as fresh and new..THEN...then, they are condemed for being commercial! Hey who made them "Strictly Commercial" ? Not Zappa that's for sure. Yeah, poor CTA did go the "too" heavy on the "love" thing. $hit, even Color My World had gas. THey still made good number turner's. Too bad bands get popular! Huh? Kind of kills the edge. Can't win for loosin. Might as well laugh on the way to the bank! You know, KNOW you "Make THEM Smile" ...sorry. Couldn't help it.

  • I was in Cleveland doing live and building a budding studio career when CTA hit us. I knew and know several players in and around both towns at the time. Nothing ever hit me like the early days with these guys. Peter C. was impressive but they were a BAND one time. A real Band. But I promise you, unless you have SUPER high end contracts, there is NO WAY you can keep ANY bands egos together with more than 4 or 5 people in it. Try touring with 10+ egos, all in the prime of their game! All leaders!

  • love ol' skool i have their cd the ol one and maan they rockk! this is music

  • I MEANT clam NOT calm

  • I LOVE it..$LOVE IT...at 1:40 into song. super keyboard clam!! Other keyboardists remarks.."Ah YEAH" So schweet. He acknowledges calm. A beautiful thing. Everybody screws up once in a while...that was so NORMAL!!! I'm so happy they didn't fix it...too live I surmise.

  • this was the dark ages for a classic band. Once Cetera left they were screwed. where are the signature horns? I was always a david foster fan but now I see he might have destined them be the 80's cheesball ballad band forever. Sadly they never seemed to have recaptured what made them unique. I remember this time, Cetera kicked their ass at the ballad game every time! it was embarrasing. it was like when ozzy left sabboth in the dust.

  • @mixmastermonte I don't agree. When you get to that caliber they are all playing and presenting the songs very well or they wouldn't get the contract. You, just as many , LIKE ME TOO, liked what was. That's gone...don't knock the players of current. At least it is still alive.

  • @101AOK I just really like the energy they had in the 70's and unique sound. The horns were a big part of the sound. I thought they transitioned very well into the 80's. It seems like Cetera's career took off when he left, while the remaining band turned into a parody of itself trying to replace him. Seemed like the engine was off the train and it was just being pushed along the track. Just my opinion and I certainly respect yours.

  • majestic performance mi estimado Carlos!,,,Un abrazo!

  • @cetera06 Que onda, Maestro! Gracias por escribir. Saludos!

  • @cetera06 - o melhor dos melhores, fantastico!!!!!!!!

  • nobody's perfect ;p

  • Bill fuckd up that chord lol

  • How many keyboards do they need???

  • @lespaul462

Enough to give each horn player something to do, plus Robert Lamm.

  • DO YOU BELIEVE A LOVE COULD RUN SO STRONG?

  • Saw these guys live in Honolulu a couple of years ago...Scheff is awesome. No need to compare him and Cetera, they're both fantastic talents.

  • Keep being great Chicago... You are always on my mind

  • Will I Am- Only- coz he's gorgeous ---?

  • ur just kidding me on, not workin the strategy, u never luv me, so nop, u Have Fiona so take her, if we meant for each other Time will tell

  • ur just kidding me on, not workin the strategy, u never luv me, so nop

  • wow

  • Although I always thought these two guys (Jason and Bill) had voices of angels, the humaness is still an awesome touch. They are phenomenal. The ruggedness of Bill's voice and the sweet clarity of Jason's makes for perfect harmony.

  • Sometimes one has to understand that the best thing happened to the other ones, but maybe it was for the better...

  • Peter Cetera, what a guy, I knew he was going to keep the spirit alive. Yes you made me cry, I'm crying still, you just really know how a man can get in love... Keep being great, keep giving your best and don't forget that if you need something I'm still a friend,,, Germán

  • it was u I Love no ain't another man., i love u just the way u are, pls.don'r let me cry , aGain, it's very painfulx i feel so sadfor what happened between me & u XG

  • i still love u,but tell me if this song for Me or ur Fiona?

  • is that song for Me or Fiona, Nvertheless,i'm taking u the way u are ,ur just a typical man Gx

  • so lovely and romantic and beautiful....

  • 1:39 is awesome. Turns a neg into a positive. Good Stuff. Champlins the best. I'm glad he left this band. He's to good for Chicago.

  • There's a lot of botches in this song and this is my favorite Chicago song. I'll stick to the studio version

  • It's not worthwhile to "cut" on anybody. But it is worth noting that Jason displays the same pitch issues during this performance that have plagued his entire career. Bill totally blows the David Foster piano part and exclaims "Ah yeah!" Meanwhile, Danny Seraphine's performance is flawless. Yet, Jason and Bill forced the band to fire Danny due to "shaky live performances", in spite of the fact that he was responsible for both of them being in the band in the first place. Shame on you, guys.

  • @Vince1961

Well... there was more to it than that. Did you read Seraphine's book? The "shaky performances" thing was just a PR cover for some much deeper issues.

  • I love Bill champlin's mistake..

  • Now I know his name Bil Chapmen! Great recovery on keyboard!! :P I like that very professional.

  • i cant stop waching this performance from chicago...sounds good...i loved...

  • i can't stop watching this video..i fell in love with jason n this song...such a great combination...so romantic..

  • jason looked so innocent here...n sexy voice...^^

  • @lalatuned This is the first I've seen of him "in person". I knew Peter Cetera left the group (I think it was after the Chicago 16 album)....but I never who took his place on lead vocals.

By the way, does this band even exist anymore?? LOVED them when they were hot!

  • @coffeegulper905 yes...their 44th year of touring.

  • Jason rocks!!!! He's got the best hair too. Gotta love him! Long live Jason!

  • Chicago fans do not beat me up but I do not know his name so ....the "Look away" guy I thought it was funny how he messed up the keyboard butthen just laughed it off anf kept playing that was cool.

  • Peter should put down his foolish pride, and argue to come back to Chicago. Life's too short to hold grudges against people all these years. I'll bet the vets would welcome him back with open arms, right, gang? Billboard's #50 song of '87. Chicago hit #2 AC, #3 pop, in Billboard. God bless, and, Happy new year!

  • 1:40 opssssss¡¡

  • i really love Chicago since i was young..im forever will be an avid fan to them..

  • 2:47 I love what Jimmy Pankow is doing with his keyboard part. It's almost like what he might have been doing with a brass arrangement if someone had let him. I imagine a lovely pic trumpet.

  • Nice 80s song. I didn't even know it was chicago. They sure had alot of keyboards. Was that in japan?

  • Cheesy generic song written by outside writers for the band to make them money. Because Women hear sappy love lyrics and melt. That is the truth about what this song really is case closed. I love the odd comment abut Cetera being the voice of Chicago NO im sorry he was one of the voices of Chicago he had a great voice yes. However he took the band down a road filled with soft cheesy meaningless ballads that some of you eat up WHY????. Jason has guts stepping in for Peter however he dont cut it.

  • @TheBeaugraham

Why? Because they're incredibly well-crafted musical compositions and they speak to the heart. Listen to the end of this song. ^5, ^4, ^3, ^2, ^1. That's a perfect Schenkerian descent. How often do you find that in a pop song? So they didn't write it. Elvis and the Beatles did songs by other people. The harmonic twists and turns in the bridge and the counterpoint in the orchestration beats any three-chord piece of crap any day.

  • @WrestlingHeretic nice try but no they dont speak to the heart, well that is what they are banking on in hopes people with bad taste in music will buy this crap. Ballads are good dont get me wrong but when an album is loaded with them they lose their meaning very fast. Chicago-17 and on was a non stop ballad fest for the mindless masses. Thank god for the unreleased now released SOS album. Its the same thing that Steve Perry did to Journey Curse him hahaha

  • @TheBeaugraham

I notice you sidestep some of my observations about the theoretical content of the music. I like pop music that has some complexity. The songs on SOS do, but so does this. That's *actually* the common thread in much of Chicago's music, whether it's upbeat or slow tempo. There's always counterpoint, orchestration, interesting key changes, prolongation. I will say this, though: "I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love," having none of those, shouldn't be a Chicago song.

  • @WrestlingHeretic No No i noticed your complexity part but that doesent mean anything complex doesent make it good. I just have trouble with Chicago post 1984 because i knew what there MO was make sappy ballad one after the other. It loses its credibility when there are too many. What about Dianne Warren how many songs did she write for these guys man id like to know. As far as Chicago ballads are concerned Wishing You Were Here could be their best i love it

  • Jason Scheff was not a good replacement for Cetera are you kidding. Cetera had a one of a kind voice Scheff has a whiney annoying pitch to his voice for one and second i have never heard more straining and cracked notes from any other singer. Scheff can play the bass but his butchering of Cetera's already chessy terrible ballads is brutal. I also find it funny how some people gush over this cheesy era of the band some of these songs werent even written by the band. That makes the song pointless.

  • 3 keyboard players? They were serious buisness.

  • JASON Scheff is awesome!!

  • Прекрасная композиция. Уже столько лет восхищаюсь ей. Прелесть!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ewwwww...what the hell happened at 1:39...well I guess they do (did) suck live....Nonetheless...this is my absolute favorite Chicago song....it is epic and it is about the longing for someone's undying love...I just have to listen to the actual studio recording to get that chill, goosbumps, I usually get when I hear this song....LUV IT....

  • great song

  • they suck live...

  • @ukijhu97 yupp

  • @#

    b286guy ,Really....wow I guess not,but they were still great :)

  • @sexygirlanneable yeah, I know what you mean. Brings back all the emotions we had running in our young minds. Its still good music, wish we could all go back, wouldnt it be great. Just replay it over and over, maybe the 80s will come rushing back to us. Spread the love!

  • you noticed Champlin's mistake at 1:40?

  • @sidpryce - haha! @ 1:40 "oh yeah" Not everyone will notice tho... :) Great song!

  • @rgpsme he made a mistake in the organ right? thats why he said oh yeah.. not ovios rhough

  • @twistedthrill - Yeah, Everybody make mistakes :) That's okay, he did it gracefully... :) cute...

  • @sidpryce yes but still they rock

  • @sidpryce who cares, everyone bounds to make mistakes.

  • @sidpryce OH YEAAH!!! haha

  • @sidpryce At least he recognised it. lol

  • @tmrwic *recognized

  • @jimamimas RECOGNISED. I'm not American. lol You'll be surprised how richer the English language is outside of America.

  • @sidpryce yeah...yikes! lol

  • @sidpryce Totally. He got pretty frustrated. Their performance is almost perfect, those things happen.

  • @sidpryce That's how you know it's live!!

  • @sidpryce -- he certainly noticed...and announced it: "oh, yeah!" hey...these guys are human. i always thought they were machines b/c they never made mistakes.

  • Jason Had a great voice.Best replacement for Cetera.Wish he would had stayed with them.Saw Chicago a few years ago,and the singer could not sing these songs :(

  • @cath7598 That would have still been Jason Scheff you saw a while back, as he's with the band to this day since taking over for Cetera in the mid '80s. It seems the years haven't been kind to Scheff's voice.

  • i love chicago then, now, and forever!

  • @sexygirlanneable i agree, i don't usually like live versions of songs, but this is one of the very few exceptions.

  • I love the goof at 1:40...only live could you hear that

  • @amquinn70 yes very suddle but they covered it very well.

  • 1:39 Plays an off-key chord and then goes "OH YEAH!" ROFL XD!~~

    Kickass song by the way.

  • this is good............I miss the horn section

  • Chicago so young at that time and rock, always thumb up for Chicago.

  • GREAT SONG FUCK ANYODY THAT THINKS THIS TYPE OF MUSIC IS SHITTY!

  • peter cetera

  • The best song in the 1987s! :D

  • Also, hit #2 AC in Billboard. God bless!

  • This is a really hard song to sing, especially solo having to sing all the parts .. I've done it and thought I was surely going to pass out when i was done.

  • @stavrophotography probably because your not a good singer....

Me I've done it and it's easy like sunday morning... :)

  • @mangloy1276

Actually I can sing very well thanks. And I too can spell.. "you're" .

  • Bill Champlin's voice was so good! Of course, Peter Cetera's was really really good! It's a shame both of them left! Chicago tours would be 10x more popular right now if both of them were in the band.

  • THE BEST..

  • awesome song.. jason scheff did this perfectly..too bad he couldnt carry a note a few years after his addition.

  • 1:40- "AWE YEAH".....lol

  • he sounds sooooo much better when he isnt trying to sound like peter... like this song! awesome!!!!

  • I'm slightly embarrassed to admit this but this song always makes me cry! <3 Chicago

  • always makes me cry, too. Jason's best song...........

  • This song was in the top 10 in the world charts in 1987

  • ..love it..kakarelax Kht BroKEn HearTED aq..

  • Jason Scheff's Best Performance.

Another GREAT HIT Song, by Chicago.

  • I don't think anybody realizes how hard it it to sing at this level and play an instrument at this level. You gotta commend ever singing member of this band for what they do, cuz its fucking hard.

  • great version!-Jason had a big footprint to fill and let's face it -did a damn good job-He was unknown to the public and in that sense could anyone have done what he did and still have people talking about his service for the past 24 years in tChicago!- He was the perfect fit for that time- Let's enjoy Jason not as replacement but as a member of a great musical institution who kept the music at a high level Much Cetera stuff live was not that great - and I liked Pete-- but he left!

  • best love song at 80's

  • I love how David goes 'Ah Yeah" When he gets the note wrong. (1:39)

  • @VioletFielding

It's funny ;-) But he's called Bill (Champlin) in fact, not David ;-) Hehe

  • I AAAAAAMMMM A BIG FAN and I LIVE THIS SONG, i want this song on my wedding day

  • Love hearing the band, no matter who's singing lead. They all sound great. Every person has their own sound, but it's especially awesome when they all blend together, like this band has done over the years. They are sounding better than ever, as time marches on. There will always be loyal fans to each of the band members. Stay loyal to Chicago.

  • Don't compare Scheff to Cetera? They are each unique in thier own way.

  • bill miss cue lol oh yeah

  • i love jason scheff,. he is good replacement for peter cetera,.. and that song is one of the best ballad for me,.

Bill Champlin ,.at 1:38 lol.. oh yeah..

  • Did Bill say, "Oh yeah!" to cover up a mistake? To me it sounds like he hit the wrong key.

  • lol he did
