I remember when their daughter Lucille Arnaz "Jr" commented on this movie. She said that it wasn't an accurate portrayl of Lucy and Desi's private life. She and other people said that Desi was sort of a womanizer and even an alcoholic....but nevertheless, this movie was not so true when it came to their real lives. But I do think that this is still a pretty good movie, even if it is off. Thanx 4 uploading this! Love this movie!!!

(cont), A lot of the what was shown in the film came from the Biography "Love Lucy" which was a great book. I believe as Lucie Arnaz said the film did focus too much on their problems however I thought it still showed their undying love for one another. They were one of a kind.
(cont) I watched the mannerisms of the actors from this movie and the original actors from the 1950's "I Love Lucy Show" and it's remarkable how close they came to the real thing. Bravo! to Frances Fisher for her resemblance of Lucy and her charisteristics being unmistakeable.

I'll bet he's going to hold another "open casting call" as a publicity stunt- just as he did before he filmed this movie and the "Sonny & Cher" biopic for ABC later in the '90s...

Now granted, the man (as an actor) did the absolute best of his ability and I appreciate it, but I think it was a BIG miscast. Then again, I don't know of very many current names who could play Desi Arnaz. I guess we're damned if we do, damned if we don't. I still give this movie major snaps for the amount of effort that was put into it.

I think she looks nothing like Lucy. However, at 5:31 she does sound almost like Lucy. Much more realistic than the voice of the actress in the second Lucy biopic (Rachel York).

NOW, I remember, that, about a year or two before production on this movie began, producer Larry Thompson held an "open casting call", where he encouraged everybody to appear as "Lucy" (and they did). The event was profiled in PEOPLE magazine, and it gave him and this movie lots of publicity- but in the end, it was just a "publicity stunt", because he cast professional actress Frances Fisher as "Lucy". He used the same gimmick before he produced his "Sonny & Cher" biopic for ABC, years later...
Okay, so the movie may have been pretty infamous, but I don't think that anyone can fault the acting in this movie. Maurice Benard being cast as Desi, was an absolute perfect choice!! He's amazing!
Originally aired on February 10, 1991. Lots of historical inaccuracies seen during the film; for one thing, the "Desilu Playhouse" where the series was initially filmed at (on the General Service Studios backlot), NEVER had the "I LOVE LUCY" logo above the entrance and above the audience bleachers- especially the one seen that was created for repeats after 1959!

I think they did a pretty good job with making her look like Lucy...Lucy's natural voice was a little rougher though.

I think she looks nothing like Lucy. However, at 5:31 she does sound almost like Lucy. Much more realistic than the voice of the actress in the second Lucy biopic (Rachel York).

There's another movie called Lucy. It air back in 03. That actress did a better job playing Lucy I think. Then again that's just my opinon. I love anything to do with lucy. =]

I saw this on Air on long time ago. Is it just me or did the guy playing Desi not even sound Cuban? It irritates me listening to him speak cause you can tell it's fake.

well be prepaired to be dissapointed...the actors are great but the story line is far from acruate. "Lucy" compaired to this one is WAY more acurate than this movie. In short, the whole stoyline is messed up... :) just lettin ya know!!

NOW, I remember, that, about a year or two before production on this movie began, producer Larry Thompson held an "open casting call", where he encouraged everybody to appear as "Lucy" (and they did). The event was profiled in PEOPLE magazine, and it gave him and this movie lots of publicity- but in the end, it was just a "publicity stunt", because he cast professional actress Frances Fisher as "Lucy". He used the same gimmick before he produced his "Sonny & Cher" biopic for ABC, years later...

Okay, so the movie may have been pretty infamous, but I don't think that anyone can fault the acting in this movie. Maurice Benard being cast as Desi, was an absolute perfect choice!! He's amazing!

Originally aired on February 10, 1991. Lots of historical inaccuracies seen during the film; for one thing, the "Desilu Playhouse" where the series was initially filmed at (on the General Service Studios backlot), NEVER had the "I LOVE LUCY" logo above the entrance and above the audience bleachers- especially the one seen that was created for repeats after 1959!

never have seen this. I know that it's supposed to be bad curious. Thank you! Lucy is my greatest influence and I want to see all for her. I love the 2003 'LUCY' So I'm very excited to see this.
