Braided line should never be used from the bank. It is a snag mess for other fisherman.

20lb is plenty. I have always used 20, 25, and 30 lb mono for sturgeon. Never have I needed more than 30lb. 112 inch sturgeon on 25lb line. Leaders 30-60lb mono.
