  • I love how they all sang Tenor arounds, and the tenors were just waddling backwards.

    Epic.

  • i'd raw dagoosh all over that.

  • Lmfao. Whatthefuck?

  • Is this what happens when you can't afford to pay your percussion staff? Love the Cadets, but this is lame.

  • skadoosh!

  • That was absolutely stupid!

  • 0:29 "Eye at the drum major!" *Slap

  • @daltonjparkes thats what battery should always sound like

  • As technically and visually impressive this show was, I couldn't help but hate it. Just, the concept is terrible. I just don't like the cadets, although they're a really good corp. Their shows just are kinda dumb to me.

  • Hahaha I looove this!!

  • For Skadoosh press 2 xD

  • Say it.. Don't Spray it..

    Mr. P so into me..

But he only got one DCI clip in HIStory?

  • Comment removed

  • haha go brad!

  • It's called Percussionese. The language of all drummers.

  • 0:22 - 0:24

    PERCUSSION!

  • Watch the heights.

    loljk

  • tittie kaka tittie kaka hahahahahahaha

  • from what i have heard, it was not George Hopkins who said "Lets do scat!" The drummers were messing around on the bus one night and presented the idea to the perc staff... and the rest is history... the same as Cavies upside down tenor solo this year

one single person can not change DCI.. there are obviously other directors who agree with his ideas.. David gibbs from BD is the one who wrote out the slide show for the TOC presentations, not Hopkins

  • i heared they got booed in 05, is it true, if so... why?

  • @thsma2009 because drum corps fans can be pretentious pricks.

  • @gabemarshallmusic ah, i gotcha. lol

  • giggity giggity

  • @fatty2346578 show me. i cant find a skat/drumspeak break anywhere thats longer than maybe 3 seconds.

  • You do all realize that there was an actual drum break before this? And not only did they win high drums this year, but this show is tied with Frameworks for the highest scoring show ever, at 99.15.

  • They're just talking up their asses.

  • hahah that was kinda sick, and i usually hate stuff like that

  • They should of played ghost notes at least with it but still sweet

  • titty caca titty caca that's all i got from that

  • this is exactly why i dont like the cadets

  • @JMdCProductions

    Why? Because they're hilarious sometimes?

  • Shoot me now...

  • lmao.....nuff said....

  • can someone transcribe this?

  • The drum line was so good they spoke the drum solo and STILL won top percussion!

  • That was GREAT! looovvvedd it! speakin my kind of language!!

  • Can I get the sheet music to this?

  • @AustinHazee I'd think I would be written like music for a choir lol

  • @moore2hold Lmao. I know, I was kidding XD

  • 0:30 Did he poke the guy?

  • @uclabruinsgo1 smacked him.

  • This is such a bizarre show. A little too bizarre for my tastes, but the drum break was kind of neat.

  • This is fuckin awesome.

  • I'm sorry but 0:03 to 0:11 is just hilarious.

  • I wish I was there the day the staff showed up and said, "Ok, guys, here's what's going after the drum break..."

  • that guys uniform looks broken at the beginnig hah

  • @beastdrummer555 ....That's wild I've seen this well over a hundred times and never noticed that!

  • @beastdrummer555 It's not, it's a sash so it just hangs

  • @coolcooja check out everyone else's uniform. That dude's sash, is broken at the end.

  • Probably the most inventive thing in DCI history.

  • They're cleaner speaking as an ensemble than I am by myself.

  • Nice!!! What kind of cymbals is that guy using at the end??

  • Anyone who says this is stupid/lame.... you have no clue how much work it would take for them to be VOCALLY as clean as they would be on drums... Best Drum Break....

  • Dem rim-shots.

  • this is extremely creative and unheard of. to have 9(?) people that vocally clean is amazing.

  • @daltonjparkes Blue devils did this 03. Cleaner.

  • @jnyfknblz you're lame

  • @jlevenhagen1 seriously, you got a drum physically strapped to you and these guys wanna skat?? would've been better off tapdancing..

  • @jnyfknblz skatting is part of the drumming culture, and should be appreciated for what it is... its ballsy to put something like that in a show, and theu did it well and clean. the best part is they play the last drum part after it was skatted!

  • The finger pointing at 0:29 always gets me

  • First drum corp or any marching video I ever saw, and I thought it was normal to do a vocal drum break in a show.

  • That's one of the most creative things I've seen.

  • The first guy looks like he's been forging documents for 17 years to keep marching.

  • @mephistefales Hahaha yeah xD

  • they must have been pissed that they couldnt do a real drum break

  • @thedrill255

    Not a real drumbreak?

Too bad they won high drums.... This was the 2nd half of their drum feature. Plus they had one of the beefiest snare breaks in the ballad.

This i called skat/drumspeak. Most accomplished drummers can't even do this.

  • @thedrill255 not a real drum break???? i'd like 2 c u try and do that...

  • ok in tyhe finals video his the guy who starts out the drum break his strap isnt broken. but its filmed exactly the same as this. soooo when the fuck is this from?

  • @thsma2009 Semis, probably. The strap wasn't broken....this was one of the years with the "streamlined" uni and the straps were secured with velcro at the ends, instead of something more secure....SO glad they went back to the old version!

Listen to the vocals on this vs finals....the tonality is totally different...only the last solo guy is close to what finals sounded like.

I always wished, tho, that the guys NOT doing the vocals had air-drummed it in the background.

  • @thsma2009 this is the quarterfinals vid i think cause if you look up this show on google videos this same recording is in it and it is labeled as quarters.

  • That is friggin awesome XD

  • wiggidi wiggidi wakka flkka flame hahshahahahahaha

  • LOLOLOL THAT MADE ME ROFL LOLOLOL LOL

  • That was kinda cool.

  • one of the greatest shows in history. love it. whether or not you think they deserve it. its the highest score in dci history. the best performed, the best executed. ever. (except for frameworks was TIED. it wasnt better it was tied. im trying to make a point)

  • This was the show that made me hate the fucking cadets. The "drumspeak" was the gayest monstrosity I've ever seen. Hopkins did even worse in 2006 with the gay bunny!

  • I would have rather hear this on DRUMS, but it must have been too challenging for them to pull off....

05 seems to have been the year that DCI really started to suck. Thanks for nothing, George....

  • @flugel76 really? you do realize this show has the highest score in dci history, right?

  • Yes, I do. TESTAMENT that 2005 was the year DCI lost its credibility. Those drummers are supposed to be on the field to show their prowess on DRUMS, not their prowess on a microphone....

We're only a few votes away from DCI turning into summertime Bands of America, complete with woodwinds, microphones, speakers, synthesizers, needless props that cost more than the entire staff gets paid, and not a single bugle in sight. All because of Geroge Hopkins, and crap like this....

  • Saying woodwinds will be allowed into DCI is pushing it a little...BUT I agree with everything else.

  • @budwayz and that is pathetic. DCI is going places that will mean the end of drum corps.

  • @jazzycat1 in some ways, maybe. but DCI will never end because of these new additions, but it will evolve, which is inevitable. sure, it may not be like the previous decades, where electronics were not implemented into many shows, but electronics are becoming a bigger and bigger part of the shows requirements. Don't get me wrong, i HATE electronics used in shows, but thats just the ways it is. DCI will always be awesome.

  • Did Cadets win 2005?

  • ... they tied for the highest score in DCI history, a 99.15. Yes.

  • awesome!!! :DDD I wish they would have won 2008. Them or Cavaliers should have won 2008. I don't care for phantom.

  • ... A show that rips on finals night should not win.

  • yeah.. but this show DID NOT deserve that score. sorry cadets

  • Why not?

  • do you think that this show should've gotten the same score as frameworks? absolutely not

  • I don't understand what you're talking about, the judges could give a rats ass if you liked Frameworks better, it's all about the technical stuff that gives a corps their score.

  • those two shows got the exact same score.. i do not believe that this show deserved that score. at all.

  • Why? Were you the brass judge down their making the tapes to find any mistakes, or th percussion judge to hear for any ticks? How about the colorguard judge to see if they were all exactly in synch with each other? Were you the visual judge from up above, and the ensemble judge to put together their GE score? Were you ANY of the judges? No

  • youre right. this show BLOWS FRAMEWORKS AWAY. so much.

  • @bejay20x NO WAY! I'm sorry, but the fight club thing was ORGASMIC.

  • Except there was nothing new, innovative, or interesting about this drill. It was just another George Hopkins Cadets show. And it wasn't even that clean. Lots of phasing, lots of bad intervals, and lots of amplified marimba arpeggios...

  • @flugel76 Well, at the time, not many other corps were using electronics and other BOA-style additions, so the judges must have liked them for a reason over all of the other corps that didn't make use of these additions.

  • I love how the guy on the left tilts his head right after they finish, at about :29; it looks very cool :)

  • @Sparrowhawk1031 he got hit by his friend, haha

  • i would laugh if they actually vocalized the rudiments "paraddidle-diddle cheese book report herta herta herta triplet roll shot!!!"

  • that was coool

  • mmm drum speak, the only corps to perfect it, i wanna see BD do this.

  • why doesnt the brad have a shako? (idk how to realy spell it.)

  • He's in pit. He walks back while the drummers are playing the break, then starts off the vocal break.

  • sounds like some Cvalda in the background, towards the end.

  • I know the guy who starts it all, name is brad

  • Brad speaks second.

  • REALLY CLEAN VOCAL DIDDLES! xD

  • lol...

what do you expect, cadets are crazy good :D

  • The Strap on the first guys uni is broken

  • Comment removed

  • aw =(.

  • how do you clean that lol

  • haha :30 center snare smacks the guys hat he looks pissed. that wasn't planned.

  • id love to see this written out on sheet music...

  • chigidada! chigida da chigida da chichiCHAchichichi DAdigade DAdigade digadigadigaDAdididi digidigaDADAdigadigaDADADAdidididiDA da da da da!

haha if it was written in vocals.... absolutly impossible to read

  • lol

  • 0:29.

    Camera Point

  • yeah

vocal druming is actually called scatting for u who dont know

  • look up scat man hes the god of scatting

  • ugh......

  • This is this funniest thing I have ever seen

  • I won't dispute that. I should have said that I did not find this enjoyable. I prefer drums to microphones and mouths.

Incidentally, I think you mean "you're an idiot."

  • your an idiot.

  • baka laka taka, naka, saka, ching chong chi chat chat choo chi!

  • chaga di dottle, chaka, chaka, chaka, wiggidi waka, chaka
