Legend has it that of all the companions, (female of course,) the only one Tom Baker never had an affair with was Elisabeth Sladen. And by all accounts she was the one he respected and appreciated the most.
@WatchVenusSpa i hope that's true. There's always a hint of a relationship with any doctor and his female companion but the onscreen chemistry between Tom Baker's Doctor and SJS always felt the most like a real loving relationship - like a young couple in love, having fun and enjoying each other. Or maybe that was just me projecting my young love for her into the show :)
tom baker ws the best dr who and sarah jane was his best companion rip elisabeth you were a sweet beautiful woman and you are remembered and loved by many GOD bless and see u LORD willing in the kingdom to come
Baker is an intellectual powerhouse, a comedy genius and a gem of a human being. It only takes a two cent fart for a brain to recognize that. B) He happens to play the part of an ALIEN in DW. Do enlighten us all on how that SHOULD be approached. Funny how left shoes can become iconic figures in television history and have millions of fans. Taste... It's a heck of a thing, isn't it?
The 'Generic and Dull Actors' collection is elsewhere. Tom Cruise is popular there.
This is a very nice tribute, its interesting you mention sarah could have come to the doctor after he fell off the tower at the end of his 4th life , I read that the director or producer had tryied to get Liz to come for the loggopoliss episode to give suport to the doctor before his regeneration. I would have loved it but I think Liz decided against it ,and the confussion to that story line may have made fans feel like the show was endding rather than evolving like it tends to do. miss you LisS
In remembrance of the recent deaths of some of our most favorite Doctor Who actors, professionals to the last...
R.I.P. Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart (actor Nicolas Courtney - deceased early 2011 age 82) Sarah Jane Smith (actress Elizabeth Sladen - deceased mid 2011 age 63) and 4th Doctor (actor Tom Baker - deceased mid 2013 age 79) we miss each of you dearly and remember you on TV like it was yesterday (it was!!)
Long live Dr. Who and the travels in time we'll enjoy for many a millennia to come!
i cut out the news paypur wot sed she died i look at it evrey day and clos my ies and think bk to the days wen she was wiv us now shes gon a part of me has gon four evur ther was sum thing ther but its gon four good il miss you r i p my frend
@waynekoppa In Season 18, Tom Baker was being forced to leave DW. Jonathan Nathan-Turner had even been given the OK to fire Tom had he refused to leave. Elisabeth Sladen simply refused to be part of the plan to kick Tom out the door.
I have the DVD's of the 13 released stories from the 18-story "Sarah Jane" era of Classic WHO. I have never heard two actors more steadfastly loyal to each other than Tom and Lis. The affection & loyalty for each other is crystal clear in DVD commentaries.
I alway felt that she was the Doctor's companion to which all others would have to measure up to! The chemistry that Tom And Elisabeth had with each other was truly magical!
I have happy memories of hiding behind the sofa watching Dr Who and this really is my era. IMHO, Sarah Jane was the best companion. She and Tom Baker worked so well together and despite cheesy scripts & dodgy effects, they actually made you care. RIP Elisabeth Sladen
Along with Jo Grant, Sarah Jane is who I immediately think of as the best Dr Who companions. So sad Liz passed away as she was was the sweetest of them all. This video will make a great epitaph for her with its emotionally lush atmospherics. Farewell Sarah-Jane.
I first met Elisabeth Sladen at Longleat in 1983 and saw her many times over the years after that. Lis was always warm and friendly. A very kind women who always had time to say hello to me whenever she saw me. I will always remember her.
Terribly upsetting. Have watched Dr.Who since i was six, forty one years ago. I'm in shock about Elisabeth Sladen, tragic loss. I loved her when I was thirteen and my ten year old daughter loves her now. I think that's tribute enough................
So long Elisabeth, Sarah was always my favorite companion. From The Sontaran Experiment - The Hand of Fear, you were always the toughest of the Doctors companions.
RIP Elisabeth You will be sadly missed as will Sarah Jane Smith, who You brought to life so believably ,that She will be mourned by so many children across the country as well as the grown up kids who never stopped loving You.A fabulous beautiful woman and actress xx
there is a way around it. the master has regenerated 14+ times.
and my theory is that there was a device that prevented a 14th regeneration. now that gallifrey no longer exists, neither does the device. and the doctor (along with whoever else might have been off-world when gallifrey fell) is no longer restricted by number of regenerations.
I caught that Davi Tennant shot with Sarah Jane!so you are wrong ,they do meet again!and thank goodness!forgot how much I love Tom Baker!and Sarah Jane too!
they do meet again! they meet in the new Series with David Tennant 2006 in "School Reunion" and she is also there later in the series in other epsodes
Hum, I don't remember the scene with Tom Baker in the water...What episode does that come from? And 3:44 is actually David Tennant when the Dr. meets up with Sarah again later in the newer series. Cool set of clips though.
@outofthegreenmist Yeah well I kind of got into the show backwards...David Tennant was actually the 2nd Dr. Who I watched, but really my doctor, because I got into the show watching him...then I came back and watched Tom Baker later...sadly not everyone was lucky enough to watch as a kid.
@Foxfairy5 Well, that's true of any "Doctor Who" fan not born before around 1960. My first Doctor was Pertwee, so I also had to work backwards and fill in the blanks - and I didn't have youtube, DWM, DVD's, etc. to help me! Still, it was fun! ;-)
sweet! I liked that you added the clip of when the 10th Doctor met up with Sarah Jane (and she had K9) made for a nice mish mash of time, so not linear, perfect as memories of a time lord. :)
Very nicely put together. That final slow-motion shot of the doctor is stunning.
