@littlebluepill0 Nono...I later received official assessment of having Aspergers...from a specialist at an AS center...and another doc wrote me down for PDD_NOS...I am receiving treatment for my ADD symptoms..and for anxiety...You should not give kneejerk slantymouth just cause a person was not caught as a child...High function autism was not on the radar when I was in school..nor was ADD..I grew up with developmental probs and symptoms..from a very early age
@littlebluepill0 Did youREAD any of the comments and stuff accomanying this vid? I may seem gregarious and such on the youtube cause I have777 vids (MOST of them not about AS, though some of my original songs are)..Were you to meet me in person, it is likely that you would not ''meet" me An amputee is not an amputee just because the doc declares their arm is missing...I grew up in the 80's there were a lot less labels back then, it seems.
You are the other people ,I'm the other people too poopy,il try and get next to you, do you think that I am crazy, out of my mind,do you think that I creep in the night and sleep in a phone booth?..
Kill the aspies! Drive them to the oceans, and drown their young! Impale them on fallen branches tipped with obsidian! Tie up their hands and feet, set fire to their faces, and let them slowly sink in quicksand! Smash their hands and feet, then lock them in a cage full of hungry, angry pigs! Create a huge beef grinder, then feed them through, slowly, feet-first! Shove thermite up their asses! Grease them up, and shove them down the throats of whales! Skin them alive then kill 'em all with fire!
I think you are awesome! Some people are humane, all are human. ADD is now "inattentive" ADHD, I'm told. That's definitely what I have. On a scale from 1 to 10, I'm about 9.3. (Test scores; I'm oddly proud of 'em.) Think I am somewhere on the "functional" end of the autism spectrum, too, although I have managed to become really good at eye contact through constant practice. Try staring at the bridge of the nose! xoxo, JD.
@badbassjd nono...can't stare at bridge of nose...I stare at the whole being....mostly the shirt,,I see the eyes and such..just can't look into them can't stand accidentally touching them...etc.....HATE that..unless they are my comfort person..then I am pat pat pat pat very tactile...it's a stim
@BrainDeadIntellect (Well..I am sort of "Assessed" now as having it, as in not 100% undiagnosed..(went to see an AS "Specialist" who basically "agreed" with methey don't know a whole lot about it, and their ideas of what autism is are rather "dated"....I have attempted on some occasions to talk about it, but it has not been that easy..requires a lot of explanation...I am not really sure what their opinon is.
@BrainDeadIntellect I after my mom...I am left-handed/right brained/don't drive..my sensory and social difficulties manifest in similar ways, & I can be similarly repetitive. On my dad's side, are the architect/ engineer/ inventor types..I have a distant cousin on that side who seems to be an adult with Kanners (though truthfully I am not even sure if he is a blood relative)...maybe the son of a third cousin..If I am not mistaken...My grandfather showed signs-his younger brother was more severe
you sound just like me, but i'm a 25 (about to turn 26) year old guy who unlike you, was diagnosed with Mild Tourette Syndrome when he was 7, ADD when he was 11, and then Asperger's Syndrome at 17 years old. I agree a lot with you about logic and "some people are human". I think there is a difference and fine line between what is logical and what just is. I think people like us with Asperger's tend to be very logical and rational beings. And my name is Ben. What is yours?
@Narutodoobutz My name is Olivia...I sorta figure that were I a kid today, I woulda been labled as having something while in school.,,but when I was in school, nobody even seemed to know what ADD was...
You are a lovely person. You act in an innocent and childlike way and I think that is a lovely quality to have. I have never suffered with Aspergers or anything like that, but I used to behave in a similar way. I used to get quite a negative reaction from people. Which used to infuriate the hell out of me. I actually learned how to change the way I behave, but I know that it is probably not the same in your case. Nor should you have to. You really do have a wonderful gift for performing.
I was on the ramp outside my back door..not the best place to shoot a video..my main reasoning was the natural light...but yeah...not the most undistracting place to do a "talking" video.
My interests are fairly narrow and specific, but it is very hard for me to be as in-depth an expert on my interests as I would like to be.
I find it odd that a walking on one's toes should be considered a symptom of borderline autism. I find toe-walking rather charming. I had a girlfriend who used to toe walk, but only when she was naked. But had she been fully clothed, I still would have found it charming. If YOU still toe walk, then you, are also charming. But since you are already charming, you would be even more charming. I don't know it that makes life any easier for you, but...at least you know you have my support.
It's not charming when you are a clumsy oblivious third grader who has a hard time dressing herself correctly or tying her shoes, and are getting constantly teased for it at school.. :*) It doesn't feel charming anyhow.
Wait a minute...I was a clumsy oblivious third-grader, although I COULD dress myself. Tying my shoes is still a bitch. Determing Left from Right is a problem I'd rather delegate to someone else.
Well, no, unfortunately I don't suppose being on the receiving end of autism would be all that charming, especially if you live in the Zero Tolerance for Autism Zone,. Still, people like yourself make life for people like myself a lot more tolerable.
Does aspergers cause involuntary shrieking? I have asked drs but they just say "mmmhm" like I'm crazy or something. I don't really have any of the symptoms other than the shrieks but i do tend to have perspective problems not making turns sharp enough etc... Someone please HELP!!
That sounds like it might be more of a tourettes thing maybe...Some aspies have issue with that, but I would not say that Asperger's causes involuntary shrieking.
You can look up the DSM-IV for Asperger's and see for yourself.
I'm getting my *formal* diagnosis in a few weeks hopefully- after 34 years!! (30-odd years too late, I think.) Women tend to present differently- and a lot of doctors/ people don't seem to realise that.. Good Luck!
I know how you feel about feeling strange about eye contact. I came to this video with the question "should I make eye contact or not?" please don't feel angry for me using you as an exmaple, but Ive just came to an answer and I want to share it from you.
I think if you told your whole story staring into the camera, you would appear alot more attentive and more naturally behaving... i think that difficult "push" to work extra hard is rewarding to the other pesron... by the way I have aspergers.
It turns out that i really am an aspie. I went in for an assesment yesterday and the lady who is a PHD who has given thousands of assesments was certain after a brief time of talking to me that I was. I could take the lengthy and expensive tests if I wanted to...but she could tell just by talking to me.
The anaylyst said that a dignosis of Asperger's actually rules out ADD...so i really only have Aspergers...apparently..you can't have them both...if you have asperger's, then you just have aspergers and all the ADD symptoms tie into it.
Thanks for posting! I don't know much about aspie and your video helped me understand a little bit more about what it is and what people who have aspie go through daily.
