Before you start the demo, the water bottle has a label on it. At 3:50 the water bottle still has the label on it (not ripped off, but connected), though water is clearly shooting out of the bottle's bottom. At 3:53 you ask "where did it go?" The water bottle you retrieved has no label. At 5:21 you can see other water bottles on the ground, one clearly has a label. Conclusion: While the demo is not a fake, I believe you picked up the wrong water bottle, or else tore off the label off-camera.
@waynecanepa It was the only bottle out there that day, the label disappeared after the hit. It is held in place by a couple square inches of weak adhesive, shooting them with guns, hitting them with dan bongs, or cutting them with knives, the labels often come off.
@EthanJM Look under the bench at 5:21. Pause the video and look around. There is a water bottle with a blue label on it in the grass. I may have been mistaken in thinking there was more than just that one. My apologies.
@waynecanepa You are correct, it was a couple years ago and I forget what I did that day I suppose, the other bottles were probably shot or knife cuts, plenty of spare bottles to play around with. I do remember watching it fly though and saw exactly where it hit, watch 3:50, I don't take my eyes off of it, and I remember this hit well enough because it was the first water bottle I did with the dan bong and I was very surprised the top of the cap shot off the way it did.
@waynecanepa You can tell it was my first because of the huge warm up to get it right, previous hits were pieces of wood and junk from that location. It later turns out it is quite easy to burst a bottle with a dan bong, much easier than other blunt implements.
i just made one out of mulberry from a tree in my backyard....its hard as shit and beleive me ill take a dan bong over a longer stick cuz these things are NASTY i was amazed at how much power you generate from a 12 inch stick on a rope.... no joke you can kill someone with these things i carry mine everyday now so if anyone wants to fuck with it....BOOM right to the dome lol but you do have to practice with it though...there is a trick anyway good video you should do more dan bong shit lol
@varmintmurderer420 I might eventually make more videos with my dan bong. I am really happy to hear you liked the video. No kidding these things are nasty, I am glad someone else has put one to the test. When swung on the rope there is no hand grasping it to absorb much of the energy during a hit, more energy is transfered to the target, not even counting the extra velocity gained by swinging it on the rope. You can easily put holes in half inch plywood, they are amazing weapons.
Believe me when you swing this thing on the rope it generates as much force as a long stick being swung by hand. By the way, dan bong means "short stick" in Korean.
@EthanJM ...ya i didnt think of that until after i posted the comment, most asian weapons were designed to be easily concealed, hence its size and the mastery of its use
dont bicker about his guys clothing, if he were from Kazachstan he would have belt from shiny sheepskin and greasy hair backward coombing. This is good and informative video, it inspired me to make my own dan bong, it then being slightly shorter to fit in pocket and i might yet sharpen the butt end a bit to a blunt- pointy end for hammerfist.
Awesome man, glad you enjoyed and even made your own. Dan bongs come in all different sizes, mine is a big one, my instructor preferes small ones. If you can make a video showing it off.
my dan bong also has bit longer rope to make nunchaku like swinging possible ,so to cover bigger distance when striking, eg against opponent with knife.
A douche? You have a strange perspective on douchebags, you actually seem like a douche yourself for saying that. You probably wear your hat backwards don't you?
What did you just call me? Who are you to talk? Shut your mouth man, if you want to call people names say it to their face. People like you crack me up. You are just a big ol' pussy.
Every school is going to be a little different. My instructor was Greg Baker, he learned from an actual Korean and got a bronze in the 1988 olympics. There is a video of one of his fights in my favorites, he loses but keep in mind he won alot of fights to get to that point, I believe that was his bronze fight.
Sorry for rambling, you could always make one of these, very simple.
I like that thing ! A great video would be hitting a melon on a stick I could make one for next to nothing .One in each hand ! that I would like see .
It would cleave a melon like a hot knife through butter, I have put holes in plywood with this thing. It would be cool though you are right. Maybe this october I will get a pumpkin and make another video.
Make one then, maybe two. Just get good with one before you use two, you don't want to crack yourself in the face. I have personally never tried to use two, but I might make another and try it out.
Use two of these? I might try someday, but with my luck I will hit myself in the face.
How long did it take to get this good? Well, not that long really. Aside from using it in taekwondo I used it alot at home to get good. I learned swinging it on the rope mostly at home, the hard part when swinging hard on the rope is also swinging accurately and bringing it back to your hand after you hit something. Just twirl it alot like you saw me doing and you will get it down.
First ! If you had to, could you get one of the chickens in the background with the Dan Bong. That thing would crack your melon wide open !! cool video 5 Stars
lol, no man the chickens are my babies, they will eat right out of your hand. Yes, it will crack someone wide open no doubt, I am sure the hit I show here would kill someone.
Thanks for the rating and comment, I am glad you enjoyed it. Make one yourself, it is really fun to play with.
Dude I thought this was gonna be bout bongs

Good vid, personally I'm a fan of the Dan Bong after having the chance to train with it, I thinks its a really useful weapon for its size.

Kid, you could have made this video 4:30 SHORTER and said everything you said; did everything you did. Sheesh. But good job.

I just found my pair of Dan Bongs from Kuk Sool Won (lost them moving). They don't have a rope in them though.

untuck ur shirt dude ur a kid
mtbikes13 3 years ago
Why does everyone make a big deal about tucking in a shirt? I like it tucked in, it is more comfortable. Also, I am 21.
EthanJM 3 years ago
Because with it tucked in you look like an old fucking man, and a douche.
The honest truth.

Nope, and I also don't tuck my shirt in.
Maybe I'll try it out when I'm 60, in another 40 years.
Asshole.

I have the same Dan-Bong. Same color, size, rope and rounded ends. Purchased it from my Kapkido teacher.
DragonsRiseTigerLeap 3 years ago
Cool, but I still made this.
I was looking online, you can even buy steel dan bongs.
EthanJM 3 years ago
Thats pretty cool , simple and visually intimidating. I love simple weapons that you can just throw in your floorboard of your car.
