  • Any advice you could give me, I got a 01 Cav and I'm looking for an engine to swap my stock out with. Looking for a bit more power but nothing to costly ?

  • sum 1 let me take 20k to put in a cavi and i will have it n e where close 2 680whp and yes it may be a cavi but it would make more people interested to see a 700hp cavi compared to having a 700hp camaro. U can put a few bolt ons on a camaro and be close to 700hp but no one would give a shit cause it had like 385hp stock. It takes time money and skill to get a 140hp engine stock to be over 400hp.

  • Is this video trying to prove something? It's like kids pretending to be grownups...A cavalier was simply never meant to be a fast car.

  • @KrosziZ

Did you know the Ecotec Motor in the Cavalier can take up to 450 HP on stock crank and all that?

From factory, not fast. Compared to muscle cars, not fast. But they're not bad. An Ecotec Cavy just on a little spray a lone can run low 13's. At least they put these imports to shame.

But I'd much rather just get a Mustang or Camaro and still be hanging with a cavy who is spraying while I'm stock. But the cavy is not THAT bad. People just don't give them a chance.

  • @chadwad12

Point taken. I just don't see the advantage in investing a lot of money into a slow car. With the same effort, a camaro for example could be twice that of a cavalier with say 20k in work

  • @KrosziZ

    Oh I agree.

No doubt at all. I have a Cavalier actually and the reason I don't go and put work in it is because I know after all the money I put into it, it will only be so fast period. While I could do A LOT less work on a Camaro or Mustang and be able to own it. I agree with you.

I'm just stating that the Ecotec motor in the Cavalier is actually a pretty good little motor and people would be surprised at how much spray they can take. A cavy is a pretty good little sleeper car.

  • @KrosziZ Because you have to look at it like this, Different people have different taste in cars, Not every one wants to drive a mustang or a camaro, Theres tons of cars out there, Just like there are people who laugh at people for buying camaros and mustangs.

  • is that auto?

  • i have an 03 coupe standard, it will do 0-60 in about 7 sec, no mods completely stock i think thats pretty fast

  • top speed

  • i just got an 02' cavalier z24 2.2l ecotec, but i only turn 16 in 6 days so haven't driven it yet and i was wondering approximately how fast they will go

  • hope you got the 5speed.

  • what is fast to you? like top speed or quarter mile ET?

  • Man.

Basically you're gonna think you're bad ass.

    When you're not.

    :/

  • Fast is not even a word that comes to mind when describing the car.

  • Well...the Z24 "Cavi" got dubbed the title fast sports car" by many automotive reviews...

    So your statement is irellevant.

  • How is my statement IRRELEVANT? (Spell much?) Anyone who claims a cavalier is a fast sports car either has not been around many automobiles, or is a fucking retard. You fan boys kill me. Please post a link to these highly prestigious automotive reviews.

  • very nice cavi

  • its crazy how this american ecotec sounds like a japanese motor..

  • the ecotec are made at the gm in canada

  • its because most jap motors are inline 4's......

the ecotec is an inline 4......so they will be very close in sound

  • yeah but the ironic thing is that they hate how our four bangers sound when in fact all engines will sound similar if its a 4 cylinder...

  • yea lol...ecotec has its own unique hum imo......Something to get used to, rather then the honda purr.......PLUS, on the ss/tc cobalt, you get great power, handling, AND mileage......

I am still kicking myself as to why they(gm) won't run turbos on a lot of their stuff like ford is about to do....I guess they feel the ss package needs to stay unique

  • I think turbos are unreliable.. I mean they arent as reliable as n/a engines in my opinion.. but one day they might be

  • I dunno about the power bit.. :P

Factory turboing a car is difficult at best. There are many variables such as assholes who don't keep up with regular service intervals, which then means killed turbos, which then means expensive replacements, which then means angry customers, which then means loss of sales.

I do like factory turbo cars, though. Much less to worry about when modding. :P

  • not true a 4 cylinder boxer engine sounds way different than an inline 4 engine, cause my subaru sounds way deeper than any inline 4

  • All Subaru engines sound like that.

    They are intense indeed.

  • @poobooger hey have you tryed it yet i did on a primerd dark gray 2000 sunfire gt convertible i felt like the boss on the roads because i was the first to do it and i have proof but some dumb ass wreaked my car ) : is was a sad day me) ..:

  • No, it wont.

  • Comment removed

  • exactly wat your you saying red neck fucker

  • Are you retarded? I said a cavalier is not a fast car. Can it be? Sure, but why?

  • because its a car like the rest of the cars what was your point?

  • Because its a fucking cavalier. It was GMs bottom of the line shit box. Its as bad as all these fucks modifying civics like they are sports cars. Some cars just shouldnt be modified. A cavalier is one of them.

  • well gm may not have spent as much time with the cavailer and sunfires as thay did with the bonneville, grandprix, and corrvette im not going to say the camaro, trans am grand am, and such because there as much as juck as the cavailer and sunfire but the engine isn't junk and that you can't argue with. (ecotec 2.2l & 2.4ltwin cam)

  • @Blazen8gsx i think the 2,2 ecotec is DOHC

  • @Blazen8gsx i think the 2,2 ecotec is DOHC

ohhhh unless you were talking about the ecotec and the old 2,4 in cavy z24 or sunfire gt 02 and before... :p

  • Nice cavi. I have a 5 speed cavi with a full exhaust and it runnin 15.65 in the 1/4 mile

  • Ecotecs have good potential, and just stock they have good pep to them for a 4 banger. More torque than hp on a stock Ecotec 2.2, gotta like that. (140hp/150lbs tq) With a stage 1 cam, CAI, full exhaust w/header and HP tuners, these can belt out nearly 170hp. With the GM supercharger kit and max bolt ons, around 230hp. A total performance head build with rods, pistons max bolt ons and turbo can get 400hp. GM got 1200 out of their Ecotec, but they have deep pockets, or at least they 'did'.

  • @mustangmikeca

wow you come on all Cavalier vids and post the same bullshit, grow up, you give us Mustang guys a bad name, oh and last time I checked you had a Civic. Wow thats no better

  • @GMCMan29 lmao you dumbass every cheapo in america gets a Mustang because they can afford it! If I was gonna take that much money and buy a car I'd get a sports car like a corvette, you see shitstangs literaly EVERYWHERE

  • @TubedxYou Um boy, Mustangs and Corvettes are not even in the same price range you dumbass. Go cry under a rock

  • fuck all the haters....nice cavi dude i have a friend that has a non-ecotec 4door cavi that smoked the shit out of a type- civic coupe.....hes pullin around 250,270 hp outta that thing....fuck u bitches

  • Just to Note:

    F-Body: 3600lb, 300whp = 12 to 1 hp-weight

    GTO: 3800lb, 330 whp = 11 to 1 hp-weight

    Cavalier: 2700lb, 161whp = 16 to 1 hp-weight

Now I rounded up on the F-body and GTO weights and down on the Cavalier as well. Also mind that those are Stock dyno numbers for the F-body and GTO.

Not Dissing on the Cavalier just making a point here.

Very nice work. I've always respected the tuner crowd. Don't understand it one bit, but big numbers from small motors is something to think about...

  • I really like the sound of a ecotec engine it's so undescribable. It's like the cousin of a humming VW. Nice car...

  • how many whp give you the hptuners man???

    or just bolts-on?

    good!!

  • LOL only 161 whp and 141 tq WOW

  • Dont forget, its a really light car.

  • I'm hoping those readings were at the wheels and not at the crank

  • the HP ratings were at the wheels dude. look at the dyno im using.

  • is automatic cavy worth tuning

  • what lip kit do you have on the car? it looks good

  • what exhaust do you have?

  • borla pro Xs muffler w/ 2.5 piping.

  • what mods do u have?

  • AEM cai, 4-2-1 header, 2.5 exhaust, HPtuners tuned.

  • hay man i was wondering if you guys could help me i have a 95 cavalier auto 2.2l i have it relly cleaned up no body kit yet but its nice well i need to know how to get it as nice as all the cavalier's in you videos so call me i live in florida lakemary 407 683 9335 and or e mail me back i hope one day i can join you all

  • nice runs man! i gotta put mine on a dyno soon. did you do any tuning or just did some pulls to see what kind of power you could make?

  • dayum corb, 161 max power is absurdly rediculous for an N/A ecotec cavalier. but i always expected top-notch shit from your demon. badass
