It's belief that these rats are the incarnations of all the past humans who lived in the temple. The white ones are divine. That is why this temple has never been diseased. Also, no rats leave the temple, as well as no rats come in!

this is why comments should be cut out of video's that show the Shree Karni Mata Temple. People don't respect it, There hasn't been a case of plage or sickness due to the rats. nobody has been bitten or gotten sick from them.

@housemouse999 rats are very clean I kept rats myself and they bath themselves,clean each other and even will move they're dressing in they're cage, even when they nest they're clean. The rats in the temple are given a very healthy diet and the people who work at the temple keep it very clean. I think the rats in the temple are kind of domesticated because they interact with human and people can feed the rats by hands safly and they like to run around your feet
