Hi, i have a few questions about the "head clearance." I am about 6'2 and a half but have kinda bad posture and slump over. Will I still be able to ascend the stairs to the crown do you think? There are literally only a few crown tickets left and I want to go so badly.
On a side note, I am a little afraid of heights and out of shape but i think those parts can be overcome!
Also, In October will the crown part be closed PERMANENTLY?? (or will it reopen at some point?) Please let me know!!
@1RonBurgundy1 I am 5'9" but u have to watch your head, being out of shape is ok just stop after a few stairs, they have places to rest, take your time, afraid of heights- u r closed in pretty good if that helps, not sure about October closing it just opened, this is something everyone should do at least once, plus when u buy your tickets ahead of time it saves you a great deal of time not waiting in line for the boats!
I saw a lot of videos showing those stairs, and my main concern is how low the railings are... unless I am not seeing some type of plexiglass, they seem very low. How low are the railings? Also on the way down, it looks pretty scary too because once again, low railings, what are they 4 feet?
As for the crown closing, I have read that the whole Stat. of Lib. will be closed for renovation for a year, then i see "will be closing" so i assumed for good..?
@TheKennyKennyKenny Sorry but I am confused, you meant that even at 5'9 you still have to watch YOUR head? Because if so, at 6'2 and a half I might not be able to even attempt going up...! And yes I read on a site that the crown "will be closing oct 29th" in red letters. Weather that is permanent or only temporary i don't know. Thanks for your help. I will need to decide probably in the next day or two before these sell out.
@1RonBurgundy1 yes u have to watch your head but if u take your time you should be ok, if you have problems u can always which to the other side and head down. The crown tickets are worth not having to stand in line with the other thousands of people trying to get on the boats, they send u to the front of the line, and there is other things to see that only a crown ticket offers!! Go for it.
@1RonBurgundy1 Thanks very much for all the info! I plan on definately getting tickets tomorrow at the latest, there are 31 reservations left. I have to factor in how much time to leave from door to door and if i should get early morning or afternoon tickets to beat the crowds. The last thing i want is to be late and somehow miss my chance.
I think i would enjoy all 354 steps if i ever had the chance Would enjoy going there. Idk why I never went when we lived only like 4hours away in upstate NY when i was younger. Looks like yall enjoyed your trip but wow i sure would not want to stick my head out no window my my that is high up!! Great video!
Does anyone else think it's a shame that they don't allow people up to the torch because it rusted?
