Does anyone know the English and French version? My Mom (who is French) used to sing to a recording in the 60's/70's...not Streisand, Holliday or Fanny Brice...
@Jake4uinto In the United States the singer who made "My Man" popular was Fanny Brice. Later Billie Holiday "adopted" it and her version was so emotional that it became associated with her forever.
This doesn't sound like the version posted by camille885. I have the feeling that the camille885 version is truly from 1920, while this version dates from a much later date.
this is a real bitter/sweet song ... and is true to the apache style of music, popular in the Monmartre area of Paris ..... basically revealing the emotions of a nightclub entertainer/prostitute towards her 'lover'/pimp ....this is never to be confused with American romantic music as used in Funny Girl and even by Fanny Brice

I have this song on a CD. It says clearly this was recorded in 1934, and NOT in 1920.

This version by Mistinguett is the greatest Mon Homme from the early years. Of the modern versions I prefer Sarita Montiel 's in Spanish.

Sinverguenza.
