I dont understand how can some people say that this movie "falsifies history"?? The soviet union did many horrible things.. Pact with Germans was only way, but they knew that they mustn't let Nazis won the war, so they started building army. Than many Cubans try to leave the country, so Castro closed borders and some of them were still trying to escape to US. Now in Cuba any citizen can request leaving the country (tell reason- business or other reason) and if he isn't some criminal, they allow him to leave the country for a certain time.

I wish that people would stop confusing the word Soviet with Russians. Not everyone in the Soviet Union or the Soviet Army was Russian. But in general, the Soviets thought of the Polish people as a problem and that's why they killed Poland's best and smartest people. All what was left of Latvia - the ships under Latvian flags were defending UK when SU was allies with Nazi Germany(as you say - to prevent the war - they were fighting together with Nazis against Poland and Baltic countries) .
There were latvians who fought on the USSR side, yes. They weren't nationalists. And not considered liberators but traitors to Latvia who helped USSR occupy the Baltic countries.
Its a matter of which side they considered the lesser evil. Although, there were ideological communists among Latvians too.
But the important thing is that nowadays all Baltic countries are biased towards those who fought for nazis, considering them as real nationalists, fighters for independence. And that is wrong.

In 1991 it wasnt like you've pushed Red Army back from your territory. You lost only 13 citizens.

I dont know much about the situation in Latvia but if we look at Estonia, only those war veterans who fought in German regiments, even SS, get pension, privileges. parades. And what about Soviet war heroes? They were mere soldiers too and sacrificed their lifes for the cause they thought was right. Why dont they get proper respect? Their burials are getting moved to the suburbs of cities, those who still alive cant celebrate 9th May on streets. Estonia if wasnt Nazi puppet, now it acts like it.

Pact with Germans was only way, but they knew that they mustn't let Nazis won the war, so they started building army. They expected Germans to attack around 1942, but Germans attacked a year to early. Nobody didn't betrayed anybody, war between Germans and Soviets was expected.

Than many Cubans try to leave the country, so Castro closed borders and some of them were still trying to escape to US. Now in Cuba any citizen can request leaving the country (tell reason- business or other reason) and if he isn't some criminal, they allow him to leave the country for a certain time.

That "10 million dead in the USSR is ridiculous" and that saying that the Stalinist regime is way worse than the Nazi regime makes me a nazi, because (as it it said in the documentary) that because Stalin defeated Hitler, the West turned a blind eye to Stalin. Patton was correct in 1945, the allies should have pressed on and invaded Russia

No context, background or reasons are given, only conspiratorial speculations on the suspicious similarities between Nazi and Communist propaganda POSTERS. It’s also unbelievably HYPOCRITICAL.
Of course to anyone who doesn’t know the first thing about history the SS comes across as an “insightful documentary”.

Who said anything about Estonia's independence? The whole thing is about this film that was basically made to demonize Russia and its citizens.
History has already showed us on many occasions that leaders were willing to commit genocide and other atrocities to strengthen their power. What happened in communist Russia is not much different from what happened in Ancient Egypt when they were building those pyramids and such. People will continue to die because of tyranny. I don't think I've met a single Russian person who'd say that Stalin was a great leader. Germans/Austrians don't glorify Hitler, but you can't blame, say, Belgium for what he did.

It doesnt men that they fight for the soviets or nazis, they fight because of estonia. Retarded film for retarded people. Everybody knows about blood that's been spilled during Russian Revolution and Stalin's rule. But the film focuses only on just that and tries to show Communism as an evil entity. I wonder if people still remember than Baltic States and Western Ukraine were the ones actually helping the nazis. Sure there were Russians there aswell, especially the ones who hated Communism. Doesn't make Soviet Union a Nazi sympathizer in any way.

I wish that people would stop confusing the word Soviet with Russians. Not everyone in the Soviet Union or the Soviet Army was Russian. But in general, the Soviets thought of the Polish people as a problem and that's why they killed Poland's best and smartest people. The same thing happened when the refused to help during the Warsaw uprising in 1944, even though they were close by at that point in the war. In any case, the Russian people suffered under Stalin as much as anyone.

Two big powers devided Europe in their spheres of influence. And that was necessary to have that kind of a binding document to avoid any conflict between the two. Unfortunately, Hitler never wanted peace. I understand that next 50 years wasnt very pleasant for Baltic states in USSR. But they recieved much more funding than Russia. One of my friends used to visit Lithuania in that time. And he says that you lived like kings compared to the rest of USSR. And you're poor and dependent on EU and IMF

There were latvians who fought on the USSR side, yes. They weren't nationalists. And not considered liberators but traitors to Latvia who helped USSR occupy the Baltic countries.
Its a matter of which side they considered the lesser evil. Although, there were ideological communists among Latvians too.
But the important thing is that nowadays all Baltic countries are biased towards those who fought for nazis, considering them as real nationalists, fighters for independence. And that is wrong.

Then where are they?" they are all around - they did win on may 4th 1990 when restoration of our independence is celebrated:-) you should read different sources - as there are no SS parades - no SS symbols, no uniforms, no celebration. 18th of march is commemoration(if you do know what this word means) day of all Latvian soldiers who died in foreign armies in WWII. May 9th is celebrated all years of independence - but it has nothing to do with Latvia.

Its the unstable political and social situation in USSR with liberal forces that put a pressure on Soviet Government. If it wasnt for that unclear time, USSR would surely remain in control of Baltic states. It was the will of Soviet people to get rid of the old system and to let nations self-recognize themselves as independent states. In 1950s' Latvia's attemps to disintegrate went unsuccesful. In 1991 it wasnt like you've pushed Red Army back from your territory. You lost only 13 citizens.

I dont know much about the situation in Latvia but if we look at Estonia, only those war veterans who fought in German regiments, even SS, get pension, privileges. parades. And what about Soviet war heroes? They were mere soldiers too and sacrificed their lifes for the cause they thought was right. Why dont they get proper respect? Their burials are getting moved to the suburbs of cities, those who still alive cant celebrate 9th May on streets. Estonia if wasnt Nazi puppet, now it acts like it.
