Really, I think below the age of 12 is too young. THe television is just a repository for cultural distortion. Children should be raised with lego (and other sorts of construction systems) and classical music.
Just a computer, no internet access (after 12, a right of passage along with a bank account and credit card): strategy games, music makers, puzzles/mysteries, and video editing software, GIMP/Photoshop and encyclopedia disks.
@DChatc, Are you trolling, or you absolutely serious, because if you're serious you should realize our society is becoming driven by technology, and if a kid doesn't get out enough or use technology, he'll grow up brainwashed. What you are doing is not much different than what the Chinese communists do. I can see not letting your kid watch rated R movies or shows at the age of 8, but they need to think for themselves. It does not distort cultural views, it helps them form their OWN.
@DChatc Are you trolling? Nothing is gonna stop a 12 or under kid from using Internet or watching television. Maybe that's how you grew up as a kid , but nothing is gonna stop a child from loading a video game , watching television , or using the internet ''unless the parent says they can't at the moment''.
if ppl get into visualization/meditation, they'll see what i did(or didn't)that my visualizations looked like swiss cheese, & i couldn't hold images in my mind very long. it's t.v.- it visualizes for you and thus weakens your own ability. not just through content , but the device itself is bad. reading of course is the answer!
yeah, thanks a lot for this vid and thanks to that guy with that info. I myself think is bad for everybody ALL ages. And this helps me with my decision of not having my kids watching tv when they are young and hopefully not ever.
@israelgaribaldi Sorry but that would be a very poor choice, not watching T.V forever is pretty much impossible unless your Amish, or your a Hermit. Besides kids at an elementary school would talk about the latest episode of *insert T.V show :P*, and he wouldn't know what to talk about, but it should be put in limitations.
@Romnia007 I spent a LOT of time in front of the TV up till I was about 19 years old. It was what I did all day, and sometimes deep into the night. All those shows from the 90's, ya, I've seen them all. At 19 I got rid of the TV and slowly, it changed my life. 27 now, and I would never dream of buying a tv for any reason.
i think your are too young when your still in your mom's belly and can't see the TV

"The rest of the animal world"? We aren't animals in the first place.
Obviously, we're completely set apart from animals.

@DazzieMetallikat How? We are multicellular protein consuming creatures that do not have cellulose in their body. How are we set apart?
