Christmas in Rochester ain't NOTHIN' like it was when I was a kid. Those who have lived here long enough should recall when downtown was not so ghetto, when Midtown was all bright and lit up inside...Santa had his Magic Mountain, and the monorail circled around it and the giant Christmas tree with baubles bigger than my head! There was music everywhere, and the smells of Christmas treats baking...and out on the street, lights hung from every light pole...It was once very beautiful...
It was so cold outside that evening that the valves on out horns literally seized up. only 1 of the four rotors on my tuba worked! It was still a fun happening though, and it really warmed my heart to see this video. Thanks RocPicDotCom
Midtown Plaza was that kind of place, lala12307. Now, we get to spend the holidays in a suburban shopping mall where nobody knows who you are. Closing Midtown will prove to be another famous political flop in Rochester. PAETEC stock was down today and at $2.28 a share. Things are not looking good.
Don't knock your city, people! Rochester is awesome, I bitched about it more than anyone, but after moving far away and traveling the country, there isn't any other city America that I want to be in right now. We are a fun and educated group of people who care and who know how to drink, dance and get down too!
I guess Rochester could be a lot worse, MayaMeows. I am running out of viable reasons to stay here though. Our draying economy and lack of high paying jobs is enough to make anybody relocate. Our entertainment venues are nice and some of the people are decent. A part of me still wants to get out and explore.
YES! DO IT WHILE YOU STILL CAN! I will always like Rochester, but having gone back a few weeks ago for a wedding, I realized I never, ever want to live there again, the overall pessimism was WAY too much for me to handle after living in SoCal the last 2 years.
I'm gonna miss Midtown Plaza! I remember riding the monorail and my daughter and nephews riding it. My daughter is 20 now she took my 5 year old nephew on it for probably the last time. We were all so sad. It's a tradition we are sad to see end.
I was at Midtown the whole day and the events were just spectacular! I even got to see the lighting of the Liberty Pole for the first time! I am glad that you recorded this event because the memory in my camcorder was full. I saw you at Midtown and I was going to comment on your M.A.S.H. T-shirt but never did. I always see your postings on Craigslist and those weather webcams are way cool!

Yeah well, You'd probably find a pile of horse manure at the end of a rainbow also, because that's your luck, or nature or... ?
