38?, ur dumb and so is your brother. your lucky if that pike makes 30. u let that baby go because it was one. dont kid yourselves. worst pike catch ever for being idiots!
Actually you are right, this is not the pike I was thinking it was and this was only around 30 in. My mistake... But the 16 in. ruler on this tip-up only goes to the lable, so there is about 2 in. of le-way on the top (meaning that the tip-up is 18 in. total.)...sorry for the mis-understanding
I have never had that happen. As soon as you see the flag you go running to the tip up just like these guys did. It doesn't give the fish enough time to swallow the hook.
it all depends, i got a 28 last weekend and we ran right over and when we got the pike up the hook was on the side of its throat. Another thing is to look and see how fast its spinning, then you can tell when to set it
well if you get to the tip up sooner you can set the hook on them better instead of waiting for them to swallow it. it betters the chances that the fish will live.

28 inches tops. Polar tip-ups have a 16 inch ruler on the side, so I call shenanigans.

wow that is definitely not 38 inches and if it was you would have let it go because you werent gonna eat it or mount it not because you caught bigger

Do these tip-ups end up gut hooking a bunch of fish since you're not there when they're taking off with the bait?
