The best part of that scene was cut. Max ejected up to the window and fell back to the ground. Without pausing he gets back into the car and tells 99, "OK, let's go." 99 asks, "Go where?" Max deadpans "To the hospital. I just broke every bone in my body".

According to a story about the "Smart" car's customizer, Gene Winfield, the car used in "Get Smart" was badged as a Tiger but was actually a regular Alpine...because there was a machine gun that popped out of the bonnet and it would not fit in a car with the Ford V-8 engine.

I don't recall the special features being used in the series (a clear take-ff of the Bond Aston Martin's modifications). But they did make a plastic model kit of it in t he USA.

You must be talking about the rare Type III Ghia - I had the more common Type I (like Max's) and moved from Michigan to Georgia with all my belongings stuffed into it, but with no rear trunk.

No it isn't. You might be thinking of the Karmann Ghia that Max drove in some episodes, but this car is a Sunbeam Tiger, and they have the trunk in the rear.
