I too have jumped off this cliff. The video give it no justice of how hard and scary it is to jump off this. You have about 10-15 feet (if that) to get up to speed to clear the rocks. The rocks slant outward so you have to clear them. My buddy jumped off and jumped a little to soon and hit his ankle and ass cheek on a rock under the water. So untill you actually go there and try it dont talk shit about it and saying its a small task

i was there today and planned on jumping cuz i saw all the videos on here of people jumping. there was a local cop with a search n rescue guy out there and they were tellin me how 9 people died there last year and 3 so far this yr.. the s&r guy told me he is the one who gets the bodies and how there are huge boulders under the water all over and the people who jump n dont get hurt are just the lucky ones..

it's 40 maybe 45 ft.

when i lived in boone we'd dive this nasty all the time. the real ballers however walk across the stream and climb up the rocks at the very top left. they jump from that and it adds a good 15 ft.

the only problem is clearing the rocks that jut out halfway down the descent.

Man. Just a bit too much for me. Looks like fun. A very scary place to jump or dive is at little River Canyon in Ft Payne Alabama. There are some falls at a campground there. About the same height. I jumped off there in the eighties. There are objects there to beware of. There is also a small cave behind the falls. Just like in the movies.

No way man, Its a solid 55 feet. Compression falls at the end of the run is a 45 footer with 35 feet being totally vertical. But from the spot where you jumped its over 50 feet. This is coming from a measurement with a throwrope and experience with other drops this size.

obviously you have never been there. you have to clear the right cliff face. then you cannot see the landing spot and have to jump at such an angle so you dont hit the rock at the bottom. jumpers die here every summer

ALWAYS make sure there's nothing in the landing area. I heard of this one guy who had jumped there several times in his youth. One day he decided to show off to his kids. A tree branch had washed down and was wedged in just below the surface. game over. I watched another guy scale the rock on the left side and jump.. wayyyy sketchy but very cool.

I have jumped this waterfall (scary as hell). There were a bunch of people there but no one was jumping. The water was so murkey I couldnt see anyting from the top, knowing poeple have died doing this jump did'nt make things any better. But I had seen people do it on you tube and I had drove to far to wuss out. Twisting Falls/Compression on down river is a much better place to swim and jump (Check my video of Twisting Compression Falls)

It is in the northwest part of the state. Just google map it. We stayed in asheville the night before. I dont think its illegal, there were tons of people swimming there and it is kind of in the middle of nowhere. i was the only person that jumped there that day

Its about 40 minutes oustide of Boone. Almost in Ten, real close the border. As far as legality...I'm not sure. Swim at your own risk as far as I'm concerned...I've been going there for 10 years and have had no trouble.

you can also figure out how fast you were going too with a stopwatch.

so 1.6 seconds times 22 is 35mph.

This info might come in handy in preparing yourself how much it might hurt should you try a 100 foot drop somewhere.

I timed him with a stopwatch on this video and got 1.6 seconds. Using old physics eq for time in seconds and height in feet.
