@GTOOtt you got to download a map on the archos website, costs something like 30 british pounds I think for the European map.

@tdeftones05 Thats the older version of The firmware. So, this is a progress from the other one. When u click on the one you have, it should become bigger anyway. Btw, I don't use arches 5 anymore since I got an iPad...

@lukacar01...it is very simple just visit archosfans then go to their support forums page...click on "archos 5 internet tablet with android" then look for the thread titled "easy market install on donut 1.7.xx firmware: the apk way" ...this will not only install google maps it will also install the google market, youtube app and several other google apps. sorry i cant post the link... for some reason it is being blocked by youtube.

hey can the archos 5 connect to an iphone 3gs via bluetooth and use the iphone's internet??? and do you have to be connected to the internet to use the gps

@viper306m Its not ypp2 buddy. Samsung have no audio quality for my taste. What you saw is the amazing Cowon S9 with Superb audio quality when pared with the bose on ear headphones.

@Martins2012 i use a set of audiotechnica cans with a pocket amp just to get my blood pumping! the s9 was the best pmp ive used but i had to upgrade so i got an archos!

My location works. Just turn on the satellite and give it a few minutes.

@wozzers2 Yes, You always need to be connected. Im always connected through Bluetooth tethering. Its take a while for the GPS to lock.

kool i just finished installing google maps app on my archos and it works flawlessly...gps...my location...street view all work...it takes about a minute to identify my location but it works thanks for the upload.

My Archos found me, all I had to do was turn on my GPS sensor. It took like 4-5 min but I was also inside.

No because, I do not know how to use that comand propt thing. plus I have no time and there is currently no ADB drivers for windows vista 64bits. So, its hard for me to do it right now.

I don't have anymore crashs then my girlfriend does using ipod touch so, after a cuple update, this thing is actually stable now. but again, I use mine for web browsing. That's it.

i do do my own research! ive had like every single HTC models ..but stopped buying them since O2 departed with HTC.

So im a little rusty in this field now .. you need people to say the faults, i dont want to pay that much and find out later on.

Read reviews of it and watch videos, the earlier firmware was buggy as gangbusters but the latest one is a lot better. One fault is that you will have to reboot from a few times to several times a day depending on how much you use it. The rebooting could be cut down if you use task apps which you can use to end apps who are hogging memory space in the background. Despite this, it's not a huge deal since it takes mere moments to reboot. Needs Hulu & better flash but overall A5 IT is a Godsend!
