My strategy for Ruby Weapon was juicing up my summons. So I mastered about 3-4 Knights of the Round so I can Attach MP Absorb/Turbo and HP Absorb to them so I wouldn't run out of mana and waste turns using Ether. Master Summon is great but you can't duplicate it and add more attributes to the summons!

@jearegood But Knights of the Round just makes it counter with quicksand, if you want to keep all of your characters in the battle, then BahamutZERO is a better strategy.

use quadra magic with the bahamut zero summon.... repeat and repeat.. takes a while.. but you beat him the real way and not with the w-item trick clitch or fricking hero drinks...

with a lot of effort i was finally able to beat this guy with counter=mime out the ass with a prelem of w-item of megalixer and hero drink so when i got hit i would throw 6 drinks to myself and always have a megalixer every two to three turns and omni slash when i can with a hit resulting in automatically resulting in 6 more took 20 minutes but works....thats all solo cloud by the way no back up so watch your hp close

@lostnumbr I found the best way to counter that was GF summon Hades, onces Ruby Weapon is paralized, you can use KOTR and because he's paralized, he can't counter with Ultima. I found the Ruby Weapoas harder than the Emerald Weapon.

Actually there is a way to max out all stats. Say your fighting a battle tank or whatever the hell it's name is, you use morph and it turns into a Power Source. Collect 99, use and repeat until max. Same style is used for the other monsters that give the stat boosters when morphed.

@ramza657 emerald is the one in the water, diamond is the one you fight earlier in the game and it gets pwnd by the mako cannon.

anyway, emerald is pretty simple, you can go the W-summon KOTR route with Mime. or i prefer to double cut (leveled up to 4Xcut) counter attack, Mime (for miming your limits for as long as possible) and of course Final Attack>Pheonix (because "air tam storm" does 1111 for each materia equipped on a character, so just 9 is an instant KO) lotsa hero drinks help

first time I beat ruby weapon was at about level 40. The only materia I mastered was my magic plus' and HP plus' to have max HP and MP. I linked a level 1 Knights of Round to an HP absorb; a Counter to mime; and I had a level 1 W-summon. I started the fight with everyone but cloud dead. W-summon KoR, next turn mime. After that spam mime. About 5 mimes and an hour it died

have knights of the round combo with hp absorb

use it once then walk away you don't even need to watch it while it happens knights of the round heals you each time he attacks you and you counter his attack with knights of the round with mime every time

I just mastered knights of the round, put MP Absorb and HP Absorb with it... then did mimic over and over. Cost 0MP and you get your hp maxed back and mp too and does a ton of damage. I think that's what I did anyways... it's been years and years since I played this game.

@supergenoseth It is bound to HP, but only to an extent. As you see he's level 99 with 9999 HP, so we can presume he also has a perfect 255 STR as well. Then, you can see he constantly throws Hero Drinks to boost it even higher. It's more or less cheating the system but it's pretty legit.

If you were a Baws like me, you would have Counter=4x Cut, Counter=4x Cut, Counter=4x Cut, Counter=4x Cut on your Ultimate weapon, as to 16x 9999 Rape him. And for good measure, have Magic Counter=Full Cure, Master Phoenix=Final Attack, Quadra Magic=Master Magic on your Mystile. That Owns Ruby Hardcore.

I have managed to kill ruby with just one person and my set up was Magic Counter+Knights of the Round, Counter+Mime, Counter+Mime, Counter+Mime, Final Attack+Phoenix, even if you run out of MP, the Counter+Mime will still cast 3 knights in a row, and because I was doing so much damage everytime I got hit I managed to kill him in 5 min. I even walked away from game

@Crazedgnome2 And also Ruby is beefed up versus physical attacks, so even maxing yourself out with power sources, and hero drinks you most likely will not hit for 9999, the guy who made this video waste alot of hero's because after like 4-5th one they no longer raise your hit power. If you want to have fun with 4x cut, match it up with added cut and load yourself up with counter attacks, then you will be shreading shit up, just dont be dumb and equip Counter+Master Command I am expert at FF7

1st,KOR is not really a cheap way to defeat Ruby. I've beat this guy,n it's still hard with KOR. it require strategies to beat him.

Ha, I beat Ruby Weapon solo with Cloud without all the special materias like 2xCut and Doublecast and Mime and whatever else one can think of. I think I was in the 60s levelwise. I think my best materia at that point was W-Item, which was pretty much my saving grace the entire battle.

Why did I decide to kill Ruby Weapon without any real special materia? Because I wanted a Gold Chocobo without abusing saves and grinding for hours.

@lilmissfarah w-summon is gotten through the battle mini game at the gold saucer (costs 64000 bp) and if you havent found any ribbon up until disc 3 then morph master tonberries. the materias that he got are either hidden very well or are secrets too. most people look them up to find them so it's very common to miss them

@lilmissfarah Don't worry, rushing through it doesn't hurt you in the LEAST. In the final dungeon there are monster's called Magic Pots, and Movers.  These give enormous amounts of Ability Points for your materia. They show up in the area of large vine's that go underwater.

The mover's are rare but give around 1000 AP each, the magic pots are less rare but they need to be given an elixer to hurt them.
