  • bless this man for helping people like myself out in the small things, as all "professional" tattoo artist know it's very difficult to become an apprentice when you don't know anyone who actually does it for a living.

  • I know he's not actually gonna use this set up for a tattoo but I think he should have been wearing gloves throughout the presentation. To set a good example, because gloves are part of set up *shrugs*

  • All in all though its a good vid lol

  • ...Even so if your going to be playing with someones skin your better off getting the best... you may have to search a bit longer but you'll be better off for it in the long run lol

  • oh wait, i see now the term 'traditional' is also used to describe earlier modern machined equipment.

  • uh how is it traditonal if it uses a modern machine? trad means using manual tools and natural pigments.

  • what is better for shading a flatneedles or a round magnun? anybody please

  • I won't call him an idiot, but to call a tattoo machine and its tuning simple is just wrong. He is only scratching the surface of what needs to be known about a tattoo machine.

  • people grow up

  • hey i want to ask you how far is the needle on a shader has to come out of the tip?

  • @99baggedmazda You'd generally line it up with the tube. Although I've seen people work SLIGHTLY off the tip with shaders.

  • thank you for your video

  • This Guy Needs To Stop Studdering.

  • This guy is a idiot! It sux that he is one of the only people to have instuctional vids on thid kina thing!waste

    Of my time

  • @Thcjoshthc100 what's the reason for calling him an idiot? if he's one, then take his job, do it better ;)

maaybee he's not a genius, but some people are grateful for what he's doing :)

  • this guy is a fucken idiot dont knoa a fucken thing about tattoo machines

you all are fucken idiots for listening to what he says lmfao

  • okay the books I'm reading say an apprentice should learn to make their own needles before buying pre-made.... so who's wrong?

  • @pixiegarza well my friend, im a beginner too, heres what i was told, k so if you solder your own needle groupings and you arent sure of them, what if you solder them crooked or something? plus you HAVE to auto clave them after soldering them yourself and than the auto clave bends and somewhat dulls the needles a tiny bit, it can be hard to see and make the needle from destructive than productive, im told theres a kind of dry heat cleaner that wont dull needle groupings or move them

  • LoL expert village idiots are giving advice on tattoo equipment now?!

This is just rich, none of their videos are informative in he slightest..... they just get some schmo to flap his gums for a few minutes

  • AJ can you tell me what kind of machine you are using? Sounds like the speed ofthe machine has little to do with you problem.... still thinking.....

  • @AJlove74 ....hey I no this is late in getting to you but it sounds like your machine needs adjusting...the spots you refer to are called "holidays" by some pros. This is more common in shading than outlining...I can't be sure what is wrong though I suspect you couldbe running your machine to slow...email me back with more details and I'll see if I can help..best of luck!!!!

  • @amidnightrambler63 I hit and miss on my lines, when I color i have to go over it all them time, the ink wont stick also my lines are hit and miss I play with the power supply to make it slow down and go faster but nothing seems to work. and when I am missing my lines I end up loosing them and then I have to make my own lines and my art work don't come out right. Still can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

  • wasted 2:50 mins of my life .....

  • @TheJoshuarichardson hwy i have checked to see if u made a how to and u have 0 videos ? Where is this info

  • @Headshothorror4488 i ran into the same problem with stuckup scared tracer tattooist pricks when i was 14 and had a strong desire to tattoo ,, if you need any info ive been slinging for 32 years now and custom draw most all my patterns ..... i am completely self taught and there is not one fool anywhere that could possibly give me any info about slinging ink that i dont already know,... im prepared to piss off anyone that works in a parlor , ask me anything !! STIK'EM JIM

  • @STIKEMJIM blah

  • @STIKEMJIM You come across as an complete asshole. You say theres nothing to be taught to you anymore, Do I believe this? No, no one would thats absurd. Can I get a link to your work perhaps? You must be a complete master of all forms if you can't be taught anything... why don't we know your name?

  • @STIKEMJIM thanx ! that just motivated me more to do what i've been doing for a couple months. I'm an open minded person an i don't have any problems about taking advice or learning from a "PRO" but who's to say he's going to be real an teach me everything i need to know an not just take my fucking money.

  • This didn't tell me how to set up a tattoo machine. When I turn the voltage up, the machine just snaps down. When I turn the voltage down, it snaps up. It doesn't vibrate like they show in these videos.

  • @HungryGuyStories This could be a short, check the machine and make sure no wire is touching the frame, the wires are soldered to the circle thing to go on the screw and make sure they are not touching the frame on the inside and out. Look at the front and back post and check, cause thats what your problem sounds like.

  • @Headshothorror4488 - Thanks! Since I posted that question, I discovered that I didn't know where to hook the clip wires to the machine, and was clipping them to the wrong posts on the machine. D'oh!

  • that didnt teach me how to set up a tattoo machine at all! :(

  • Hey brother . Im a construction worker , now starting to tattoo my bro's out there , what advice can you give me on setting up a machine to put black in real fast ? I seen a tattoo artist do a big spot of black really fast , in a couple of swipes of the needle , it sounded as if it was a fast running machine. Any advice out there ?

  • @1stdarknightslayer

Try BIG magnum needles(+20's), and if you run over a spot more than 2-3 times you should keep your colorpacking setup, if you managed to run just 1-3 times over a spot use abit softer lining machine with good throw..

I did it once one a friend, worked fine, but haven't had that chance to do it again...

Allways try new shit on your self..

As usual, that's my personal pref. and KEEP IT CLEAN(sanitation&hygien)

  • Do the kind of machines u use really change the tattoo that much? because i can do a better tattoo than some people with a chinease machine than people can with a spaulding or bicknee. Idk. Help me?

  • @ATCMusicka well if your china is better than bicknee than you must know what you did to it to make it so , so why would you ask such a question

  • @ATCMusicka LISTEn...

Chinese machine can be equaly as good as any other, BUT, you'll surely need to file/grind/ the frame and springs a lil bit...

I've seen people with homemade machines doing FINE pieces.

So it's basicaly all about having a durable machine, correctly tuned to your personal style of tattooing.

Got a 15yr old pro-machine(still going strong) and a few Chinese frames with Baltimore-Street-Iron springs and M.Sharp coils on them. Surely better than many pro-machines in stores.

Cute, now you're stealing my lines. I expected that since you're obviously not intelligent enough to come up with your own retorts. I'm sorry to hear that daddy molested you, that must have been difficult for your mother, she must have been shocked when she found out he was gay. Like father like son eh? Now I see why you're afraid of coming out of the closet to mommy, both "men" in her life turning gay? I can see how she'd feel. I guess failure runs in your family huh?

  • Comment removed

  • @Headshothorror4488

Well which is it? Old man or little kid? You're confusing yourself now, careful, you wouldn't want to overuse that tiny brain of yours, you can't afford to be even more retarded than you already are...

And sorry, but my mother passed away almost 10 years ago, I haven't lived with either of my parents since I was 17. But again, nice try kid...

Aww looks like someone's angry... Do you even know how old I am?

And no, I'm not on welfare, I have a career which pays more than any little tattoo artist could even dream of. But nice try kid... Before you tell anyone to get a job, maybe you should start by moving out of mommy's basement, get an education, get a job, clean up your pathetic excuse for a life and maybe you'll resemble some kind of respectable human who has more than a dozen words in his vocabulary .

Woah! You know what a dictionary is? I'm impressed! Now maybe you should use one, if you did you wouldn't be butchering the English language like you are... Didn't mommy teach you how to read and write? Maybe she still can, why don't you run upstairs and ask her? While you're up there, tell her you're coming out of the closet as well, I'm sure she'll understand, it'll also explain all her underwear she found in your room.

  • @Headshothorror4488

There you go again talking about homos, just come out of the closet already, its pretty obvious you're gay, you can't even make a single comment without mentioning them... If you don't care, why are you still replying to me? If you really didn't care you would have left a long time ago instead of sitting here making yourself look like a retard. Obviously you did read my comments since you're still here nerdraging over what I said, I guess I struck a few nerves there again.

  • @Headshothorror4488

No YOU can't read, nor can you tattoo either, I seriously doubt anyone who's as mentally challenged such as yourself can tattoo... Have you even read your own posts? They're a godamn train wreck, they make absolutely no sense whatsoever, please, do the world a favor and never reproduce, we don't need any more complete morons like you in this world... I didn't even need to look at your profile to tell you're american, your idiocy proved that right away.

Only stupid kids make such statements such as "if you reply you're homo". The more you post, the more of an idiot you make yourself look... I'm not hiding behind anything, you said you'd crack my face, and I told you to bring it on, I'm not scared of some 12 year old wannabe tattoo artist...

  • You tube. Dont apprentice, that costs too much. The professionals hate this site. so do the apprentices. Keep at it and if by tattoo 5 you arent getting no where, give it up.

  • I'm so tired of this self proclamed pros ridiculizing people who wants to learn, they forget that at one time they where scratchers too, they think they were born with a tattoo machine on their hands! let people learn any way they can the same way you started long time a go when you realized you wanted to screw some people up with your first pices of shity art.

  • @soychingonazo lol true that dude

  • @soychingonazo well said buddy well said.

  • If theres anyone out there whos more of a experienced artist looking for more in depth guides or so , or even begginers like myself, watcha DVD by brandon bond, its callled 'The whole enchilada' absolutely brilliant to watch if your really into the art of tattoo and some really really valid points made and hes a funny dude too so its a good watch for all tattoo artists =] good luck have fun doing what your doing

  • thats a good machine to smash with a hammer- lol

  • lol NICE ONE!!! lol, Tension screw, what a moron!

  • thanks you really help

  • ok first off i want to say is Jesee bradley is not a hack,he is one of skin candies top rated artists and he has been published in several magazines, and happens to be one of my favorite artists for color work.Another thing,to the scratchers out there,an apprenticeship is the best way to go to know everything you need to know,if not about art at least about sanitation,be sure to use disposable grips and new needles everytime, properly sanatize the work area, and learn about cross contamination.

  • learn to spell idiot its douche and u r one.

  • THIS WAY PEOPLE FOR REAL INFORMATION

  • shes not fat lol

  • look i no u love what u do but id rather have people learn this off the internet and get some idea then just do it and fail and try to learn on their own and i u say well they shouldnt be doing it like that in the first place. well people were giving home made tattoos long before u were born and r gona continue long after u r dead

  • thats the thing though. finding some of u 2 teach us is almost impossible. i,ve gone to the shops in my area and they all say they're not taking apprentices.

  • i do dat to,open the tube and needles in front of the people i tattoo, and show them the date on them..

  • DEFINITELY must be an ARTIST in the first place, I'd say good luck to anybody seeking an apprenticeship but LUCK hasn't got anything to do with it, get your skills up ppl

  • I agree, but also dont want to be given anything. Obviously dont speak for anyone but myself but I wanna earn my skills the right way whatever that may be. somebody throw me a friggin bone though, APPRENTICESHIP?Hard to find it'll work out cause I wont stop until this is how I earn my living

  • thank you, from a scratcher, got no choice,be called a scratcher and do what I love or be ashamed of a stupid word and dont get any better at my craft. All the great artists out there started somewhere, hopefully I be one of those one day

  • When Pro tattoo artists won't take on someone who wants to learn or charge so much that the person can't even afford to pay his or her bills because they are kept at the shop for 12 or more hours for 2 , 3, or more years and you wonder why people go for the training video's.

  • yeah it sucks getting taken advantage of like that, or feeling that way

  • For all of those who say the industry is going downhill then the only ones who can fix that are the well known artists in the business. Take someone under your wing, teach hold seminars show the rite path to take, don't just bash bash bash because someone wants to try something. And its 50 50 as far as Im concerned, if you are willing to allow a novice artist to work on you, you are just as much to blame for so called bringing the industry down with crappy art.

  • I understand every ones views on this touchy subject. But i feel as though people are going to buy the kits and do tattoos without apprenticeships no matter what the bicker. This is better than nothing, even though it may not be perfect. For everyone talking shit, and for all of you who are pros and been doing this forever, make some videos for beginners to learn from, if your techniques are perfect.

  • You cannot tattoo well without knowing the correct techniques to apply without traumatizing the skin, and the only way to achieve that is through an apprenticeship, and like Cronic said, to get that apprenticeship, you got to have artistic talent. And the dude in the vid. proves that bad tattoos, SUCK!

  • I would recommend a hand built tattoo machine from a reputable tattoo machine builder, such as Aaron Cain, Danny Knight, or Terry Stafford of the U.K , just to name a few.

  • scratchers are the type of people that give others the impression that artist=slacker. and nothing is further from the truth. it is just as difficult as any other serious profession, even though it's considered alternative.

  • I'm a fairly new apprentice. this will be my third year in and out of tattoo shops, and im finally getting hands on experience and a thorough training. tattooing should be considered an art, it is the hardest medium to master, trying your hand at all different mediums shows you that. all art should require vigorous training or honestly, anything that comes out of it just isnt going to be worth it.
