I think that the people who keep bashing this version of the song can't hear the happiness and togetherness in the voices of the performers. This is a happy song, reminiscing about old friends and old times, and looking forward to the new year. Just because it has been modernized a bit- the tempo, the accompaniment, some of the vocal transitions- does not mean that it is any less worthwhile a song!
