  • Ahhhh... before radio turned all corporate piggy.

  • Very thankful to have had the opprotunity to work with the Real Don Steele and his producer and K-EARTH 101. Growing up as a kid this was my American Idol.

  • I've never been a prison inmate but I still know who Art Laboe is...haha

  • Check out that hot babe! Who is she, a Playboy Playmate??

  • @NESherv No, although she's hot enough to be...actually, she was a Raiderette; her name IS Jill, though.

  • @wannawatchu66 Full name, please? :)

  • @NESherv Sorry, don't know her last name (would've told you if I did). :o)

  • I wish his name was spelled right. It's S-t-e-e-l-e!!!

  • @TheRealDonSteele Yeah, I noticed that too when I first saw this video back in '88.

  • When Don Steel was at KRLA It was oldies During the Day then at Night KRLA got Differnt

My Good Friend called it DISCO GANGBANGER

What ever Art Laboe is great but I did not like thw way they knocked Fredie ant he Dreamers to promote the last days of KRLA

  • she is what every jock pictures listening to his show (or her)...call-in voices sound so good..then come the meet and greets....OH NO....go hide....

  • KRLA was good during the day then. Art Laboe came at night and the station

    got differnt.

    WAY DIFFERNT

Art is great but KRLA should had been LEFT ALONE

  • @TL250Rider The thing was, KRLA was damned near broke when Laboe took over in 1976. He actually poured his own money into the station and turned it around. KRLA was a force to be reckoned with in the 60s with Dave Hull, Casey Kasem, Bob Hudson, Johnny Hayes, et. al., but the 70s hit and after Johnnie Darin left, the programming went downhill, automation was installed, and by '76, the station was about to go under. If not for Laboe, KRLA may have ceased to exist 20 years before it did.

  • I have KRLA- KRTH- XTRA on tape from 1986 & 1987. My tapes only as I recorded them myself while vacationing out in LA. Steele, Midday Mike, Johnny Hayes and maybe a few others. -----------------------------RDS on KHJ! Boss!

  • Krla, k-earth and smokin' oldies 930 am is what dad would jam in the car and I grew up listening to that wonderful music, thanks for the memories

  • I remeber listening to KRLA back in the early 60's. Back the then there was no Boss Radio. IT was KRLA and KFWB (now all news) I also rmember KGBS but I can not remember if they played rock or just talk.

  • Wow..... a blast from the past! I listened to KRLA most of the time when I was a kid. We will not discuss exactly when that was!

  • Then Came Art Laboe and Disco Gang Banger

  • I remember this from R&R's 15th anniversary video, only this here isn't as heavily edited.
