i was wondering if you guys thought that this piece was a bit difficult? I'm in beginning choir at my high school and we are doing this piece for our choir recital. If you have any tips for a beginning alto singer that can also sing in soprano? But in this piece i'm in the alto section
By the way your performance is so beautiful I'm hoping that our choir will practice to be as great as you guys
Palm Sunday is also known as Passion Sunday to commemorate the beginning of Holy Week and Jesus final journey to the cross. Many churches are incorporating an emphasis on the Passion of Jesus into services on Palm Sunday as a way to balance the celebration of Easter Sunday. Rather than having the two Sundays both focus on triumph, Passion Sunday is presented as a time to reflect on the suffering and death of Jesus. Thus our anthem choice is the Bach "Crucifixus" (from "b minor Mass").
My memory of Cathedral days as a boy was that the 5th sunday in lent was called Passion Sunday and the Sunday next before Easter Palm Sunday. (Book of Common Prayer).
Whilst it is true that on Palm Sunday we hear the Passion as St Matthew recounts it, the procession of Palms is the pricipal activity of this day in most churches of the Anglican Tradition.

Learning the notes is only the beginning to making beautiful music. Keeping the intensity in the long legato lines is difficult.
Thanks for viewing and your kind words.

Ambitious, but satisfying.
Do the ladies rehearse more than the gentlemen?
Strange choice for Palm Sunday where the "Hosannah" entry into Jerusalem does not yet previsage the crucifixion.

I don't want to start a polemic!

Wiki "Palm Sunday" confirms this.
