He was an extraordinaly bowler. He was one of the best spinner India ever produced. I have hardly seen anyone talking 10 wickets in a test or bowling to Brian Lara with a broken jaw and getting his wicket cheaply.

Hayden was a top class batsman Kumble's the third highest wicket taker in tests, 2nd bowler to get 10 in an innings, good captain, fair lower order batsman....hayden is a great batsman but not a greater comprehensive cricketer...that's just on facts alone.

@simpsons2170 look at the averages.. 29 for a bowler is like averaging 41-42 as a batsman .. hayden averaged 50 with the blade .. spin bowlers have greater opportunity to take wickets then what pace bowlers do .. thats why the top 3 wicket takers are spinners .. doesnt make him greater .. thats a fact

@BuDDyyBeNn23 first of all this whole argument is like comparing apples and oranges it's arbitrary to compare a bowlers average to a batsman's average is arbitrary since the two aspects are totally different parts of the game. spin bowlers often get hit out of the attack wheras fast bowlers at least have pace again, two different aspects that is subjective. But to your original point, Bradman was bowled for a duck in his final innings, does that make Eric Hollies a great spinner?

actually - he was a winner all the way. He spun India to 600 plus wickets and more wins than anyone else despite his inability to spin the ball a long way. His class as a leader and a human being really shone through in the aftermath of the infamous Sydney test. why do you diss a real legend?
