I looked up Linkin Park's "Session" on google, on wiki it said it was nominated for best instrumental rock song, but lost to this song. So I was like, oh wtf, that song is great, this is bs...
Then I listen to this song and I'm like... damn, I can see that ;)
(I'd still prefer Session, but this song still kicks ass)
On your advice I have done and very interesting he is too. I particularly enjoyed the "There They Go" piece from Friday Night Lights. I've added a link to his site in the side-bar info ; it's worth visiting.
Thanks for the tip. Incidentally, he's related to the actor Rip Torn ; they're cousins.
saw a Jeff Beck concert on VH1 Classic the other night. It was in a small jazz club in London.
A real testament to the brilliance of Beck is the audience. Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, etc. were in the audience. they didnt have to be there. but they wanted to see the genius. Clapton was a guest on stage too.
This is absolutely brilliant in every way. A great composition. JB's guitars run through a gamut of emotions, with the acoustic adding an extra layer of magnificence. Not to mention the spirit of JB's old friend Jimi Hendrix shining brightly from 2:58 to 3:34. Jeff Beck play notes and rhythms that other guitarists don't even know exist. Bravo JB!

Check into David Torn. He produced this and is one of the world's best guitarists.

This needs to be used in a film.

I think one of his songs off this album "Jeff" was used in a Russian film (I don't know which film). The track used may have been "Seasons".

...but yea.... this number and many of his songs would work well in film scores.
