Have you ever used the fat found on the inside of the stomach cavity of winter killed animals? It is rich and pure with no meat in it and renders out beautifully. If you know any hunters in your area, ask if they'd give you some, I'd love your opinion of it.

Why on earth would you do the rendering in the oven? Twelve hours at 240 degrees? Why do it that way when you can render it over a stovetop burner in half an hour?
I guess you can if you want to. Only the explorers of yore didn't, since pemmican was often used as emergency rations for sled dogs as well as people. It seems dogs can't handle salt like we can.
I made my 1st batch of pemmican with store bought lard, jerky & dried fruit, and could hardly choke it down, but i have a feeling when i make it as you have here, it's going to be wonderful. Thank you!

So you guys know: pemmican is the best survival food or for when you go on an expedition and carry a lot of weight. I usually buy high grade pemmican made out of buffalo steak and marrow fat. Very delicious. For carbohydrates and additional minerals and vitamins i buy bars of pressed cashew and/or brazil nuts. Very little space and weight and it will keep you going forever. Nice video. PS: the foods above are VERY HIGH ENERGY stuff so be extra careful how much you eat and when.

Excellent tutorial, but I wouldn't eat that but as an absolute last resort and only if it were the only thing left and my survival depended on, and even so, I would prefer mixed nuts and trail mix which lasts just as long over dessicated meat mixed with liquid fat. That can't be good for you or your arteries. Dead animal products are devoid of all the enzymes, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and water your body needs. Fresh raw vegetables and fruits are so superior and full of protein and fiber.
