  • jackson! the same wood the same pickups the same bridge for 2/3 of esp price. I think that esp guitars are overpriced and sounds like ltd's which is much cheaper and for this price these guitars are awesome

  • I got my Esp Sv for only 1000€ =)

  • lol i had the same problem....i went for the esp but it's all about what works best for u. But this a win win anyway XD

  • IMHO I'd say the ESP is better. I've just been testing both at a almost local music shop, and the ESP just feels better. ESP vs Jackson: Tremolo: ESP (Schaller OFR vs Korean FR) Painting: ESP Inlays: Jackson (Dot vs Shark Fin) Fret Reach: ESP Neck (How sticky it is): ESP Tuners: ESP (Gotoh vs Jackson) Overall Quality Of Everything: ESP (Battery cover, Output Jack) ESP's neck is thicker than the Jackson's and is very similar to my Epiphone LP STD's neck. Both are really good.
  • GET A JACKSON!! i have that exact model and it's AMAZING it's hard imaging a better guitar! you can whammy the crap out of the tremolo and the whole thing just stays in tune like magic!

  • Get the ESP. I own two sv standards and I have owned a RR1 from early 90s. The esp guitars have much better quality controll and very reliable. I can make a video of it when i get home! Good luck though!

  • What's the song?

  • save some coin get the RR24 and ditch the 81 for an 85, the rr24 is a damn bright guitar,

  • Song ruined it :(

  • well i tried d esp and i only saw d jackson

in gonna get the esp and then im getting d jackson later (the black yellow one)

the esp is only more expensive coz od s extra pickup and d 3 way toggle switch they both look rad but i give no preferences im geting them both

if u want diff sounds i recommend d esp coz of d 2 pickups

  • hi, don't know if you're still wondering about which one to get, but let's say you do. I bought the rr24m as a christmas gift for myself (truly the best xmas present I have ever got, and definately the most brutal!), and it simply kicks ass! I have tried several guitars that have emg81 in them on my own amp, and this is by far the heaviest sounding. i love the simple setup, the floyd rose stays in tune for weeks, the neck is perfect, great fret access, NO dead notes, light weight, and CHEAP! \m/

  • RR24 all the way, made in japan by the same factory that has been making the pro series for 20+ years

  • you can buy a rr 24 on musicians friend for 11 to 1200

  • get neither

buy an rr3 stick a set of emgs in and your sorted

  • @breaththeair Dude, no............

  • @JustNHavoc dude more versitile and cheaper

  • @breaththeair Dude, still no......rr3's suck....I have one(with a pickup change) now i'm dying too get rid of it.......

  • it should be Alexi Laiho signature model vs Jackson RR24. Or the ESP SV model vs Jackson RR5. Now things would really be interesting

  • You're comparing a Japanese Jackson to a Japanese ESP, you would think that would make sense, but it doesn't. It should real ESP to a USA Jackson. What you get on a Japanese ESP and USA Jackson is better build quality, like, fret work, finish placement of parts(tuners, bridge, etc), better parts, locking tuners, etc. Up the Jackson to a USA model, maybe the King V, and it will be a fair match, and either one will make you happy, just a matter of feel, and you need to feel both before buying.

  • Yeah thay are both great guitars but i would prefer the jackson chose its just straight forward and simple single pickup and settings and if u play metal u only need the bridge pickup.

  • Thats not true, I can name hundreds of metal bands that use the neck pickup for soloing

  • The ESP SV is way better IMO I tried both guitars and ended up taking the SV. I prefer the look, but also the neck and it has two pickups instead of only one !

  • Jackson, hands down!

  • i have your same questione m8!!!!

  • sv hands down, i love the jackson too but extra pickup and extrajumbo frets r too tempting, but then again price

  • i'm a proud owner of both guitars and both are amazing but.. the esp neck is "fatter" than the jackson, the jackson has better tuning thn the esp, i can tell you BOTH are great and is very difficult to say one is better and the reason why laiho went with esp was not about quality was about delivery time cause jackson custom shop times are ridiculous (12 + months to delivery) mine is 14 and stll waiting, and why i went to jackson?, to me esp are copies of jackson but great quality copies

  • yeah, i know alexi reasons, don't worry about that, im not a geek fan who wants to buy a ESPcause laiho uses ESP XD

i thought jackson has more tunning problems overall if u use the whammy bar too much, but thanks for the advice u r really lucky having those two beasts

  • the tuning problem was no issue for me i haven't had those problems at all, but the guitar intonation is better on the esp tht's true

  • try a agile reaper its like a bat wing rr there pretty fucking cool emg 85 and 81 plus not many have heard of them id pick them over esp but its tough between jackson i have a short video of a agile reaper just pictures though

  • also the agile reaper is 600 dollars and is actually a really good guitar just as good as esp and jackson

  • @heavysteelstrings the rr24 has an original floyd so no tuneing issue

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know, it comes to how much money you got. The SV costs 1700 euros (2500 dollars) while the jackson costs around 1100 euros (~1500 dollars). Its up to you to decide whether you wanna save up or go with the cheaper one. Their both great guitars by the way, I have played on an RR24 for a short while and I own an SV myself. I personally think the ESP is a lot better but then again it has a bigger price tag.

  • thank u for the advice

  • jackson is better

  • In spite of all i want to buy an ESP too (i need money), they are very different guitars...ESP has more bassy modern sound, RR is more old school sound more good for old thrash has more midrange, maybe is for the maple figerboard.

I tried an american jackson too...and i think that this big difference of price isn't justified from sound. (of course american is better guitare very nice and perfect)

  • 'american is better' - BOLLOCKS! The Japanese SV standard has much better build quality. I do like the maple neck option though, the shark fin fret markers are just too old and too 80s, they need to refresh their style

  • jackson american is better there the oldest custom shop in the world they have amazing quality just because a japanese fender is better than a american fender doesnt mean the same for jackson also he could get a japanese jackson ever thought of that stupid

  • I have a jackson RR24 i buyed it after i tried ESP, Ltd alexi lahio signature,

I think are all great guitars but no LTD (it has very bad feelings on the neck)

ESP and Jackson rr24 are such the same quality, but the ESP has two pickups, swtch and more easy access to the last frets, so is more refined in this and i think that's why the price higher. I think for the price is the better, but i still like Classic RR design and i chose the rr24 with maple fingerbourd because i liked it more

  • my opinion is to get the esp...im gonna buy the same this summer :):)

  • really??? please when you have it make a good video showing that amazing guitar

  • When i get it i will...

  • dude look up agile reaper videos there badass

  • Your best bet is probably to find a guitar store where you can try them, and just see which one you prefer, its all about personal opinion really, the ESP will probably be a bit higher quality, but others may still prefer how the jackson plays or feels, but i would always advise to try a guitar yourself before you buy it, the worst thing you can do is spend that amount of money on a guitar to find that you hate it!

  • well..., i also think esp its going to be better but the price makes me think about

if it's really necesary the neck humbucker

  • It will most depend on what sort of player you are, myself i like to have a neck pickup, as it gives a smoother sound, very useful for playing clean or when shredding fast, i know it may be more expensive, but gotta pay good money for good quality!

  • well... now i really like bfmv but hate changing tunning, so by the time i prefer playing standard E or drop D songs. that is the reason i need another guitar

  • Each has its advantages.

The ESP has a neck pickup (really good if you want more diverse sounds, but honestly unnecessary if you know what kinds of sounds you want to/can make.)

The Jackson has a neck-through design (doesn't sound like much, but play a set-thru or set-neck guitar, then play a real neck-through. Those things are MADE for shredding-DOES NOT affect the sound though)

I would recommend the RR24 (but my opinion is worthless as I am a Jackson fanboy ;D)
