This was a stupid episode. My mother would've just said "we don't wear summer clothes in the winter, because you'll get a cold and I'll be stuck staying home with you!"

Sometimes, Clair treats Cliff like he's one of the kids. That wouldn't fly with me. Nevertheless, I can't imagine just outright defying my mom like that. "Yes I am" should have automatically cancelled Rudy's plans.

But, Claire was firm but fair. She really kept her cool when Rudy was pesering her about it. She gave her fair warnings and then became firm with one that got Rudy to listen. And lol at Bill as he just stares` at Claire.

She's the baby of the family. It's half and half with the youngest kid. Some get it harder because the parents learned from their older kids not to let the younger ones get away with. And for some it's easier because the parents see them as (like I said before) the baby and are a little more sensitive with that kid.

The club was "The Exchange" where older kids play on the innocence of younger kids. Rudy lied and said it was a bible study club. Like you said, Rudy gets more than her share of freebees. It seems like Cliff gets punished more than she does. LOL

One has to understand the determination of a parent to raise a child right and then doing it vs. an introverted kid with psychological issues that often go untreated or undiagnosed (maybe because of naive parents) resulting in catastrophic events

rudy was the cutest, and i loved her pal peter who would only talk when he was alone w/rudy! this show was great the first few years, then like all the other great shows (Rosanna, All in the Family, Family Ties) it tanked when it started to bring in all these new characters.

the best cosby show is when lisa told claire she was dropping out of college but had not worked all summer, and when claire pointed that out, lisa responded that it was her summer vacation! classic

A woman who prolly didn't get enough credit as a former tv mom was janet hubert-whitten aka the first vivian banks. she was far better than the second one. and she reminded me alot of phyllicia rashad. they were both great!

I just meant in the sense that she never got an Emmy Award. I don't think she was even nominated, which was unfortunate. At least Bill Cosby always spoke highly of her. I completely agree on the Vivian front. Nothing against Daphne Maxwell Reid's talents, but for me Janet Hubert-Whitten made that character.
