I thought both Karate Kid I and II were thumbs up, but III was definitely a turd. Daniel was nearly murdered twice by a coked-up arsonist and his buddies, but the best revenge was beating a guy in a Karate tournament? er... whut?
The first one was a gem.. cinematic gem. Wonderful underdog coming-of-age story. They could've just stopped it at that.. the 2nd one at least grew and expanded on the first, it wasnt bad. But the 3rd was just a joke, like a mockery. Ralphs son's opinion is pretty spot on.

True, it was not the same sort of picture as the first two; the inspirational theme of a wise mentor helping a spirited kid with a good heart blossom was dampened. But KK III also gave us an insight into the way evil really works in the world, with its most damaging effect being not how it can attack us through other people, but how it can, if we are not prepared, gain a grasp on one's own heart and mind, as it did for a time to Daniel.

He should do the Karate Man. The plot would be him being bullied by Chuck Lidell and they wind up fighting in the Ultimating Fighting Octogon. Billy Zabka and Elizabeth Shue both still look very young so they could be incorporated into the movie as well.
